  1. I'm rooting for the Netherlands and Spain, because they're fun to watch and they have a few Liverpool players, but the Germans really scared me today. They look like they've flipped the switch, and they're always capable of winning a tournament. And they'll get an easier draw in the semis that the Spanish or Dutch.

  2. What is the general opinion on Tim Duncan's place in history? I had this debate with some friends, and I just don't see him as an all time great player. I'm not talking about his team, but him as an individual player. He's not top 10, maybe not top 20 or 30. I just don't see the ability to take over a game and put a team on his back. Could he score the last 25 points of a game? Some guys I would put ahead of him:

    Magic

    Jordan

    Bird

    Wilt

    Russell

    Kareem

    Hakeem

    Shaq

    West

    Dr. J

    Moses Malone

    Karl Malone

    Oscar Robertson

and maybe Barkley, Petit, Isiah Thomas, and others. Any thoughts?

  3. The biggest disgrace is how Rush Limbaugh has responded to the ad. He said that Fox was acting, and when he said this he started shaking and mimicing Fox. He also said Fox was "off his meds" and that is why he was shaking. Of course, he doesn't know that Fox was shaking because of the medication. That is a side effect of the meds, and if the patient doesn't take them they become almost comatose. By the way, Limbaugh is the last person who should be talking about people taking their meds. What he and the people in this new ad don't understand is the Fox ad isn't powerful because he's famous, it's powerful because of the way he looks in it. It is really sad to watch, and it would be no matter who the patient was. Of course, Rush and his cronies on the right didn't complain when Fox did an ad for Republican Arlen Spector because of his support for stem cell research.

  4. GNR without a doubt. If the original lineup got together today and toured, they would sell out arenas. They could have been the next Stones. Another I would say is Cream. Clapton has ruined just about every band he's been in, and Cream could have been even greater than they are.

  5. I agree 100%. This is a classic American crime picture. I love Goodfellas, so it's hard for me to say another film is as good, but this comes close. I would say that I think there is more brutallity in this film than in Goodfellas, both in language and violence. All the actors are great, all believable, and the ending is tremendous. Scorcese has to get his Oscar, doesn't he?

  6. Same with me. I just saw it and I loved it. Hoffman was amazing. You know another film about the same exact subject is coming out this winter. I can't see how it could measure up though. By the way, at the same time I got "Capote" I also got "Match Point", and I thought that was great. Those two and "A History of Violence" should have gotten more award consideration than they did.

  7. Well, I hate the ending, and some of the characters are stereotypes (the obnoxious New Yorker, the God fearing southerner), but that's to be expected from war pictures. I think it's a very good film, but not great. I think the miniseries "Band of Brothers" is better, but I didn't like the last couple of scenes of that either. A few other good ones: "The Great Escape", "The Dirty Dozen", "Apocalypse Now", "Bridge on the River Kwai". It's hard to make a good war picture, they're all kind of the same story.

  8. first of all, you are an idiot. second of all, i liked the joe johnson trade, because diaw was never going to contribute to the hawks. it's good that you see either marvin or smoove as a pf, that makes 2 of you (along with BK/KB). i don't think it's possible to get the guys on your "fantasy" team, unless you clone harrington and trade him to 3 different teams. why don't you just sew your lips back to BK/KB's ass and move on with your life.
