  1. I'm rooting for the Netherlands and Spain, because they're fun to watch and they have a few Liverpool players, but the Germans really scared me today. They look like they've flipped the switch, and they're always capable of winning a tournament. And they'll get an easier draw in the semis that the Spanish or Dutch.
  2. Maybe, but the embarrassment of Game 7 may change everything. That was pathetic. Losing by 10 or 15 may have been ok, but 34? Pathetic.
  3. What is the general opinion on Tim Duncan's place in history? I had this debate with some friends, and I just don't see him as an all time great player. I'm not talking about his team, but him as an individual player. He's not top 10, maybe not top 20 or 30. I just don't see the ability to take over a game and put a team on his back. Could he score the last 25 points of a game? Some guys I would put ahead of him: Magic Jordan Bird Wilt Russell Kareem Hakeem Shaq West Dr. J Moses Malone Karl Malone Oscar Robertson and maybe Barkley, Petit, Isiah Thomas, and others. Any thoughts?
  4. At this point, is there anyone who has watched an NBA game the last 5 years who would take Diaw over JJ? If Bradley would, he proves just what a moron he is.

That said, the Gasol proposal is very interesting. I think I would do it. Joe and Gasol in the east? That could be very good.
  6. I would love Steinbrenner. He wins. And Belkin can't leave Atlanta. He has a lease and a new arena, and the league wouldn't allow it. BELKIN! BELKIN! BELKIN! BELKIN! BELKIN! BELKIN!
  7. I've been saying that for months. At one time, I hated Belkin. But now, I'm so pro-Belkin it's sick. I'm the biggest Belkin guy there is. Even more than his family.
  8. The biggest disgrace is how Rush Limbaugh has responded to the ad. He said that Fox was acting, and when he said this he started shaking and mimicing Fox. He also said Fox was "off his meds" and that is why he was shaking. Of course, he doesn't know that Fox was shaking because of the medication. That is a side effect of the meds, and if the patient doesn't take them they become almost comatose. By the way, Limbaugh is the last person who should be talking about people taking their meds. What he and the people in this new ad don't understand is the Fox ad isn't powerful because he's famous, it's powerful because of the way he looks in it. It is really sad to watch, and it would be no matter who the patient was. Of course, Rush and his cronies on the right didn't complain when Fox did an ad for Republican Arlen Spector because of his support for stem cell research.
  9. GNR without a doubt. If the original lineup got together today and toured, they would sell out arenas. They could have been the next Stones. Another I would say is Cream. Clapton has ruined just about every band he's been in, and Cream could have been even greater than they are.

    The Departed

I agree 100%. This is a classic American crime picture. I love Goodfellas, so it's hard for me to say another film is as good, but this comes close. I would say that I think there is more brutallity in this film than in Goodfellas, both in language and violence. All the actors are great, all believable, and the ending is tremendous. Scorcese has to get his Oscar, doesn't he?
  11. worldnet daily is a notorious right wing site that features articles by, among others, Bill O'reilly. Of course they are trying to scare voters before the election.
  12. Same with me. I just saw it and I loved it. Hoffman was amazing. You know another film about the same exact subject is coming out this winter. I can't see how it could measure up though. By the way, at the same time I got "Capote" I also got "Match Point", and I thought that was great. Those two and "A History of Violence" should have gotten more award consideration than they did.
  13. Well, I hate the ending, and some of the characters are stereotypes (the obnoxious New Yorker, the God fearing southerner), but that's to be expected from war pictures. I think it's a very good film, but not great. I think the miniseries "Band of Brothers" is better, but I didn't like the last couple of scenes of that either. A few other good ones: "The Great Escape", "The Dirty Dozen", "Apocalypse Now", "Bridge on the River Kwai". It's hard to make a good war picture, they're all kind of the same story.
  14. You can't wait to lose by 30 points? What good is having Calvin Johnson if you don't have a QB who can get him the ball. Remember Reggie, on 4th down, you can't throw it out of bounds! Have fun going 7-4 every year.
  15. I think the Spirit are starting to lose the PR battle with Belkin. Why root for the Spirit when this is the kind of deal they make?
  16. who's with me in planning the welcome parade for Belkin? I know he's satan and all, but he can't do any worse, right?
  17. first of all, you are an idiot. second of all, i liked the joe johnson trade, because diaw was never going to contribute to the hawks. it's good that you see either marvin or smoove as a pf, that makes 2 of you (along with BK/KB). i don't think it's possible to get the guys on your "fantasy" team, unless you clone harrington and trade him to 3 different teams. why don't you just sew your lips back to BK/KB's ass and move on with your life.
  18. I'm glad someone here knows the direction the hawks are going. because other than fielding a team of 12 guys who all have the same height, weight, and position and giving the pacers a championship, I can't figure out what BK/KB is doing.
  19. the hawks got the opportunity to draft another 6'-8" guy instead of the pg everyone except BK/KB sees they need.

    Deal Sucks

BK is just doing his job, helping Indy win a title. Isn't he the Pacers' GM?
  21. why don't the hawks need a pf? they have 1-and he's a rookie. Smith and Williams are not pf, and part of the problem is that BK thinks they are.
  22. KB-Are you Billy Knight? I mean, BK does become KB pretty easily. Either that, or he has pictures of you you don't want to get out. Or you're a member of the Knight family. Like his kid.
  23. 1. What good is cap flexibility when no one wants to come here? 2. What good are draft picks when your GM doesn't have a clue about who to pick? Another great deal by Indiana's GM, Billy Knight.
