  1. It's clear Belkin wants to follow the Donald Sterling model of how to run an NBA franchise. He wants young, cheap talent, and then he'll let them go for nothing once they become stars.
  2. The only time I've seen more conspiracy theories than I have on this board is when people talk about JFK. This looks bad, and I'm worried and pissed. But I think this could be something like the wording of the contract or the payment per year of the contract. Maybe Belkin thinks, if they won't match, why give a huge payment in the first year, which has been widely reported as part of the deal. Or, maybe he thinks they can sign him without a trade. I'm going to save my rage until it completely collapses. But, in their press conference, PHX did say they expect the deal to be done this weekend. Let's all take a deep breath and relax. If it falls apart, then we can storm Phillips Arena. I'll bring the torches.
  3. Zaza: 15.7p, 13r, 1.2b Dalembert: 15.8, 14.6, 3.3 Curry: 26.9, 9, 1.5 Chandler: 14, 17, 3.1 Magloire(been mentioned in trade here): 18.4, 14, 1.6 Hunter: 16, 10.4, 4.7 Zaza doesn't look too bad in comparison. I think that those 17 boards a game might make me lean towards Chandler, but the Bulls will match anything.
  4. I don't think they would match because they drafted Bogut and re-signed Gadzuric. They wouldn't be able to give him enough playing time to justify the money.
  5. They've done it the last 2 or 3 years. Remember a couple of years ago, they were close, and they made deals for Bartolo Colon and Cliff Floyd, but they immediately went backward and traded them for prospects. The Braves will be up a couple by the end of the weekend, and after the play the Nats next week, they'll be up at least 4.
  6. Not only do I remember it, I used to have a copy of the music video the team made for it. It had all the players dunking and hitting lay ups in the background while the band played the song. I'm sorry I don't know where you can get it now. I don't remember the band who made the song. It was a hell of a tune.
  7. Beast. As a white man, I feel uncomfortable saying that. You have to be careful these days.
  8. There probably aren't many other soccer fans here, but my other favorite team in the world, Liverpool FC, pulled of the greates comback in European football history, and I had to acknowledge it here. It was amazing, and I just hope the Hawks can be as successful one day. YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE
  9. If Bogut was a 7 foot black center who won every player of the year award in college and played well in the Olympics against an NBA MVP, he would be a no brainer #1 pick. By the way, I've seen Bogut dunk the ball many times and get double digit rebounds many times, so he can jump high enough. When did the NBA become a high jump competition?
  10. That's interesting, what you said about defense 1st. Remember what Williams did defensively in the tournament against Salim Stoudamire and Francisco Garcia. I think I might rather have him, which is why it might not be too bad if the Hawks get the 3rd or 4th pick. Williams would be a no brainer then.
  11. Congratulations. I hate Illinois.
  12. My grandfather has it. He is 84 now, and he is blind in one eye, but he leads a normal, active life. Still, this isn't good for a pro athlete. It must not bother him now, because he sees the court very well. But it is a concern.
  13. How many 2's and 3's does one team need? A team full of players 6'7" and smaller may work in the A-10, but it won't work in the NBA.
  14. Bogut couldn't have been that bad against UK, he did put up 20&10. And this wasn't the first time he faced real competition, but because Billy Packer only watches one conference all year, he wouldn't know that. Bogut played AT Arizona, against Channing Frye, and he put up 20&10. Bogut played AT LSU, a team who has the SEC player of the year (Brandon Bass) and the SEC freshman of the year (Glenn Davis) in their front court, and I'm willing to bet both guys guarded Bogut at some point. In that game, Bogut put up 24&17. Announcers have their own agandas, just like people on this board. But Bogut can't be that bad, because he is an All American and a finalst for the Naismith award.
  15. I agree, he didn't really stand out tonight. But he's a very talented player, and he would warrant consideration with the #1 pick if he declares for the draft. He's very versatile. But I'd like to see him stay at UNC at least one more year.
  16. Bogut had 20 & 10 against Arizona, and 24 & 17 against LSU, which also has a pretty good front court (including the SEC player and freshman of the year), so, how did he fold? You know what I love about Kentucky? The fact that their entire basketball program and tradition is based of the success of one of the biggest racists in NCAA history, and he only accepted black players after his team got killed by a team full of them. Isn't that great?
  17. I had the same problem with CBS. I didn't see a minute of the Utah game, only the highlights on ESPN. I think he's #1, because you can't count on a FA center signing here, and it's very hard to pass up a young big man in the draft. Plus, he's really good.

    NCAA pickem

I posted my picks last night. I'm Wolfpac. At this point, I don't think I'm a threat.
  19. The real pansy is the one who punches guys in the nuts. You're ignorant, so I don't know why people pay attention to you.
  20. I don't think the Hawks will draft Paul if they plan to sign Watson. Watson wants to start, and I don't think they'll spend 5 million/year on a back up PG.
  21. I don't think Paul has ever dominated anybody. He's a good player, but not dominant.
  22. If he's the #1 pick, he won't care where he's going. If he thinks Utah is paradise, his head might explode when he gets to Altanta.
  23. But aren't you overrating a European player you've never seen before? If it's so easy to put 26 & 13 in the MWC, why don't more guys do it? I hguess you're right. 7 foot, 250 isn't a size advantage over anybody. The NBA is full of 7 footers.
  24. I'm a Hawks fan, and I don't believe anything posted on this fansite. Why would I believe something on a Boston fansite?
  25. Yeah, but some high schooler no one has seen is worth it. Anyone in the draft could be a bust, no matter where they play in college. If you would actually take the time to watch Bogut, you would know he is for real. Dale Davis? He's done. Ilgauskas? With the Hawk's luck, he'll break his foot at the press conference. Dalembert averages 7 points a game. What's the big deal about him?
