  1. Wanted your point of views of horford at power forward.

    -Not talking about sap.

    -Not talking about Monroe.

-Not talking about any center to pair with him.

Just want your thoughts of what horford may be as a full time power forward in the nba?

    I will go first....

I think horford as a full time "4" will be the same if not a better scorer at the pf position. I honestly think his offense game around the goal would increase dramatically and he will be a more all around scorer. However though I believe horford is a good defender from what I've seen in the past I'm not too sure I know what's coming on the defense end at the 4! Yes horford is a mobile big but that's at center. "4s" in today's nba seem to be better scorers with the ability to stretch the floor. Can horford chase these quicker 4's?....let's be honest there aren't many scoring centers in the nba so has our best player really been tested on a nightly basis vs scoring bigs?.....nonetheless looking at our situation I would be willing to find out.

The one thing about basketball, you need help for your team to be successful. In Horf's case, I don't think it matters if he's playing "4 or 5"... The kicker is Jeff Teague. Pick and roll, pick and pop... Horf can shoot, finish at the rim... But he needs someone to put action in motion. He's not a guy with 18 seconds left on the clock, just give him the ball....

  2. Chicago is not a no-brainier over Lebron, Irving and Love, IMO.

No brainer? I don't know about that. Anytime you have the best player on earth, you have to wonder. Plus the MVP of the all star game? Then throw in either Wiggins or Kevin Love? Now they're gonna snatch up Marion (there's 11 and 7 night in) You may be right, but Cleveland is gonna be good...

  3. Like I said before, the dude is a freak athletically even he's an old rookie. I've watched a lot of Big Ten games. He was a match up nightmare because he's big and can shoot... He didn't seem to be still in school.

  4. I think it's a sign we're going to continue to infuse more foreign players into our roster... And he can influence. Let's face it, the world is catching up. Let's get them... I believe Duncan, Ginolbli, and Parker has been okay. How many none USA, players are on our team? I mean, I know Horf has spend most of his life here, Florida, ATL... But he wasn't born in the states.

  5. I don't think Hibbert is very good

    He is clunky and mechanical.

    Terrible with the ball.

    He is slow

    He has hands of stone

He often got exposed out there on the court last season and in the playoffs as well.

He is considered a good defender because he can block shots...I don't think he is that amazing a defender.  He gets challenged a lot because he doesn't really intimidate.

There was a reason he was sitting during the 4th quarter.

And now a head case. You just lost Lance and Paul... An all star, that had 0 points and 0 rebounds as seven footer in the playoffs as a 1 seed. No pressure next year....

  6. I think the chemistry will be a result of good character guys. You have to be willing to share the ball to maximize this offense. However, I think our depth will mean a lot towards finding the right combination of players to win in the playoffs.

I agree. Our system requires sharing the ball. Just like, again, the Spurs... We don't have selfish players. I know people know how good Horf is, but I can't wait to see him fully healthy with this team and offense.

  7. I like your confidence but there is a whole season to go with factors

Right. Factors being mostly health. 82 games, teams will have bad nights playing. But if Horf or Sap are not even on the court it's season changing. Think Pacers fans are optimistic?

  8. I was wondering if 35 miles was a lot or not.  I've never biked before, so I wasn't sure.  I just know I can't even bike 500 feet to my neighbors house without being out of it. lol

No kidding. It's been years since I've been on a bike. Shit, I get tired driving 35 miles.

  9. While he's improved every year, making an all-star team should be left to Sap and Horf. JT just needs to play... Hell, he's got a newly signed Mack, and Dennis on his heels. Screw the heroics, he needs to work to keep his spot.

  10. Didn't see a thread on the last few pages.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJH8O3Zzl-s&app=desktophttp://mweb.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24644949/video-klay-thompson-and-kyle-korvers-3-point-contest-at-usabThere's nothing like a friendly long-distance shootout between NBA players to show you that these guys just love to compete. After shootarounds and practices around the league, millionaires do the same things regular basketball-playing people do. Just, you know, much better. At Team USA training camp in Las Vegas, this means that the Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson and the Atlanta Hawks' Kyle Korver treated onlookers to quite a show. LetsGoWarriors.com's Rich Twu was on hand at the Mendenhall Center to film it and get Thompson's reaction after the loss.“Man,” the competitive Thompson said, shaking his head, “He beat me four out of seven spots.“You can only miss one shot, maybe two (against Korver),” Thompson added, “but I love shooting with Kyle — or Steph. There’s not many guys I think can shoot better than me. It just gets me better.”Thompson vowed there would be more three-point contests coming up as training camp continues.Team USA will have an intrasquad game at UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center on Friday, then play exhibition games in Chicago and New York later in August. The FIBA World Cup begins on Aug. 30 in Spain.

Well, there's a reason he had that streak... Dude can snipe!!!!

  11. While I agree, the Hawks though has seen Horford as a center and I wouldn't put it past them to see Payne as a back-up 5 either.

You're right. Horf has been a 5/center his whole career, and maybe Bud will make a change. He's been clamoring for years to play his natural position. It might need to happen. Or he's gone. He's prolly on hole eight, approaching the back nine of his career... I bet he's sick of guarding Centers this long.

  12. Lurking other team forums, just about every eastern playoff team message board are extremely optimistic of jumping up to being a 2-3 seed in the east even before the paul george injury.

So with Hawks fans I dont expect anything different.

Realistically I see us being another middling team.

Yup, , 4-5, maybe 6 seed. Same shit for the last, hell, almost decade....

  13. How's it different? He's still a human who played basketball right? Pippen was 33 and Rodman was older than Jordan and both were still getting done at a high level. So now it's all coaching and everyone buying in? If you can't see that those guys are great players, I don't know what to tell you. They may not put up the numbers they used to, but they're still great when it matters.

Jordan and Pippen, c'mon... I could have sat on the bench with them. And they had good role players. I'm not saying the Spurs don't have players, I'm just saying the main ones are old and Pop had to implement a way for them to succeed.. They bought in, and obviously it worked.

  14. Yet you said if you put Manu and Tim on the Suns, they would be a 30 win team tops. The point I'm making to you is there is no magical system that breeds success. You have to have great players and the Spurs have three growing on four. And as far as age goes, it is far from the only factor. Jordan won the title at 36 and was still the best player in basketball. At age 40, he was still better than most of the league.

Jordan is the best player to ever put on a uniform. That's different. Roll the ball out. I agree you have to have great players to win the trophy, but the Spurs don't have "great" players anymore... Save Parker, he's getting old too. It's coaching and everyone buying in... I mean seriously, who's gonna remember in 5 years that Leonard was the MVP of the champions in the Finals?

  15. How much of this is "system" and how much is because Duncan is 7" foot and still a great player?

Tim Duncan Game 6 Highlights vs Thunder - WCF: http://youtu.be/CYWEw9GLz8s

Damn, I'm not saying they're not talented. You don't win that many rings without being great basketball players. But you had guys pushing 40... And won another NBA championship. Geez, Duncan is older than me, and I feel like an old man. That Spurs team ran circles around Miami by passing the ball, being discipline, and frankly, just out coached by Pop...And the best player on the planet knew it....

  16. For all the talk about system, Duncan, Parker and Manu create their own scoring opportunities and do it at a star level. All three would still be great players on other teams. The Hawks do not yet have a player that can get it done on the level of those three.

Not to be rude, but those three will be HOF's. Including the coach. It's all about system. They're old and just won the trophy. Put Duncan and Manu on... Phoenix today, 30 wins, tops.

  17. Yes, not only common, it's pretty standard.  Check the rosters/depth chart for any NBA team at PG. Listed a few:

    Chicago: Rose,  Hinrich, Brooks

    Dallas: Jameer, Felton,Gal Mekel

    Indy: Hill, Watson, Sloan

    Memphis: Conley, Udrih, Calethas

    NYK: Calderon, Prigioni, Larkin

    SAS: Parker, Mills, Joseph

    Mia: Chalmers, Cole, Napier

Okay. I gotcha ya. Good point. I consider myself to have a decent knowledge of players. But I don't know who most of the 3rd stringers are (except for Larkin, ya know Barry's son)... It might be common, I just think Dennis is gonna have some sore's on his ass the next two years.
