  1. We have attempted 1, I repeat ONE 3 pointer this entire f'ing game.

    The Pistons have attempted ELEVEN.

These teams that actually throw up 3's every now and then can get in front of us so easily.

Why in God's green earth do we not even try to shoot 3 pointers?? It's freaking pathetic.

TRADE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS GOING TO SHOOT THEM IF THESE PLAYERS WON'T!!!!!

I'm so tired of this crap.

Sorry. I should have given the link:

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nba0708.htm

We are 3-5 against top 10 teams and 3-6 against top 16. We are too schizophrenic to go by this though. It depends on how much energy we have tonight.

    Thanks - pretty interesting.

    We're:

    3-5 vs. Teams 1 through 10

    0-1 vs. Teams 11-16

7-4 vs. Teams 17 and on down.

That's more impressive to me than I expected.

We are overachieving so far this year...and I'm LOVING it!!

People will never give Woody credit because he is a horrible head coach. And if you knew what you were watching you would know that much.

What, are you an Atlanta Spirit employee or something?

    No.

FWIW, I agree that Woody does some real strange things as a coach that I don't agree with.

However, he has this team playing great defense and playing their absolute hardest every single night (which is a VERY hard thing to motivate an NBA team to do night in and night out).

We could talk about substitution patterns, offensive schemes, blah blah blah all day long, but at the end of the day there is one and only one thing that I care about.

    Wins.

Of course looking at Woody's overall record and comparing him to any other NBA coach is not a valid comparison.

You have to look at the SITUATION, and looking at the situation of personnel on this team, there is absolutely no way I could have expected any more wins than Woody has gotten us during the years he has been coaching.

As I said, I think in two of his 3 years so far, we were about right on par with the level of NBA ready talent on our team ('04, '06...Injuries), and he actually OVERACHIEVED relative to our talent in 2005.

I'm not going to complain about him as long as the bottom line (WINS) matches my expectations for the roster.

As of right now, looking at this team and our schedule, I would have expected 8-12...He has us at 10-10...IMO, he is already overachieving this year.

Not to mention how there is only 1 out of the 12 or so ESPN experts that even picked us to finish higher than 10th in the EC, and right now we are 7th or whatever.

We are OVERACHIEVING so far this year compared to all REASONABLE people's expectations.

Woody's gotta be doing something right.

... or even close to it, Woodson would be exposed to the rest of the world as the completely horrible coach that he is. It's like we're in a bubble or something. No one has paid attention to us for years. If there is more attention on the team, there will be more scrutiny of the coach.

I would love to see this team to do the unthinkable, and win their next 5 games. That would give us an 8-game win streak, and run our record to 15 - 10.

LOL . . . Woody still wouldn't get any credit. This is exactly what Sekou was talking about in his blog today.

Yep, no matter what he does, people will never give him credit...

  6. I mean, it is really, really bad.

5/16 nights shooting seem all too normal for him.

I do expect it to improve, and it has in the past few games, but I'll be glad to see it moving north over more than just a few games.

Man I can't wait til we actually start getting respect.

Dude, you're old enough to know that we'll never get respect. We live in Atlanta. That's just the way it is. Unless we get a Howard or Oden or a star of the highest caliber, we'll never be the story. The Hawks of Dominique were barely recognized. The Smitty/Mookie/Deke teams got no love either. That's just the way it is. We will get longer highlight packages if our games start to mean something. That's it.

I guess it just still gets at me, even though I know that.

Smoove is probably the only player on our team that has the potential of a Howard or Oden, and he is a flashy enough player to get national recognition...Not a "boring" player like Joe (I don't have anything against Joe's style of play, but he is not nearly as "marketable").

  8. Anyone else see the highlights of our game on SportsCenter??

The only thing they showed was Orlando missing shots...Not a single things the Hawks did...The Magic just "lost" the game...We didn't "win" it.

Man I can't wait til we actually start getting respect.

  9. His record as a coach is HORRIBLE because he was put into a HORRIBLE situation with HORRIBLE talent compared to other teams.

This is the first time in his coaching career that he has even had average NBA ready talent.

We have had the youngest team in the NBA the past 4 years...What kind of record would you expect??

You have to look at the situation, not just his record compared to ALL other NBA coaches.

All those other coaches had different rosters and different situations...now Woody is really starting to turn it around.

    Hope he keeps it up.

If Franchises just looked at the record of the coach instead of factoring in his situation, I'm pretty sure people like Jimmy Johnson (1-15 his first year with the Cowboys) wouldn't have had the success he did.

    Patience.

If Woody doesn't get us to the playoffs this year, I support him being fired, but there's no point in having unrealistic expectations.

  10. Which I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you on, the only thing that matter is wins and losses.

And in his time here, he's done as good of a job in that department as anyone could have reasonably expected...He has actually OVERACHIEVED, IMO, one of those 3 years, and was about right on par the other two.

As long as he keeps producing in accordance with my expectations from the perspective of wins and losses, I'm not going to complain.

For the record, given our schedule in the early part of this season, I believe we are OVERACHIEVING at this point to be 10-10...I expected more of 8-12.

I'm very happy with where we are at the moment.
