Why is the first game not on TV?

I never thought I would say this, but maybe it would be better if Belkin owned the team. I just want somebody to own it outright. The fans of Atlanta deserve more. Why not make a move that will help the team the most rather than make a move to save money? Is it all because of this court case?

I don't know if the way Billy Knight is building this team will pan out or not, but I do know that it is really having to lead to a lot of patience. I think that it will be interesting to see if he can pull something out of nothing for Al. He was able to get Al for Stephen Jackson. I hope the Indiana deal not going through leads to us gaining a valuable piece now that will grow with our team. Hopefully he can get a young center or point guard with potential to be great. I have my doubts, but at this point, I am just going to try to observe without formulating an opinion, and root on the Hawks. Whatever happens, I do hope that we see improvement from all of our young guys this year. I honestly believe this is the last year that we can go without making the playoffs, but we better improve upon our record. For me, this is the last year I will be patient with Billy Knight. If things don't turn around next year, I will be first on the list to want to get rid of him. Also, lets get this ownership thing worked out. It is not fair to the fans.

I missed the game but heard Bill Walton say at the end of the game that Joe played really well. Does anyone have a recap of Joe's play against China?

Its looking like Josh Smith was the much better pick at 17 I think. I am just trying to remember who was picked directly after Childress and how they are currently doing. Do you guys thing that Chillz was a good pick looking back at that spot?

Can someone please post the article on ESPN.com saying that Billy King is lying about keeping Iverson, with 5 possible trades.

I honestly do not think that Foster will help us win more games.

I am having a hard time understanding why you guys want Foster on our team. I have watched him play, and haven't found anything to be impressed with. I hope its not just about his contract size. I am at a point where I really want this Al trade to improve our team, and I don't think that Foster would be the answer. I don't know that much about Magloire, but isn't older, and his contract is about up, so I am not seeing how he is going to benefit us in the long term.

Is there not anyone in this Forum that sees any positive in having Iverson on our team if we could get him for Al and Chillz?

Allen Iverson gets a lot of assists. Also, who were these great scorers that he ran out of Philly? Stackhouse was more selfish than Iverson. Larry Hughes was not a good player yet. Iverson took a mediocre team to the NBA Finals with the help of Dikembe. If you put him with the Hawks, I honestly believe that he would have more talent around him than he has ever had. At least in the backcourt. I also think that we would be a dangerous team defensively. Say what you want about his practice habits, but he works harder during the games than any player I have ever seen. He plays with so much heart. Thats why he is so much fun to watch. His contract is for just 3 years, and I think in those 3 years, he will be a good player. I think that he will learn to defer to other players in his age and when he has more talent around him. He takes a lot of shots, that is true, but he makes a lot of shots as well. He also penetrates and his able to get to the basket, which will open up things for everyone on the team. If we could get him for Chillz and Al, I think that would be the dumbest thing our ownership has ever done by not getting him. Also, who is going to offer more than that to Philly? We have the money to pay Iverson, and he will automatically bring some excitement/attention back to Hawks basketball. Who knows, we might even get some veterans willing to come play here for the minimum. I think you are selling the talent of Marvin Williams, Josh Smith, and Joe Johnson short if you say that Allen Iverson will keep them from maturing as players.

If you have watched Iverson play, he plays with more heart than anyone in the NBA. I guess the same could have been said about Dennis Rodman. I really don't think that Iverson is a selfish player, and I think if he has the talent around him, he could be great. He has not been detrimental to the play of others in Philadelphia. He will free up others, by all the attention that will be drawn to him. I think it is very dumb to assume that Joe Johnson will be less successful with Iverson in the lineup. I think Johnson and Iverson will really compliment each other. KB21, give me one good reason why Johnson will not be successful with Iverson in the lineup??

What exactly is too much. I have heard rumors of Childress and Harrington. Do you think that is too much for Iverson. We already have Josh Smith, and Marvin Williams is starting to mature. Where does Childress fit in. Is he going to be a back up forever? I think that is not breaking up our future if we give up Harrington and Childress. I am sick of hearing people saying that we would give up too much to get him. Imagine a line up of Iverson/Johnson/Marvin Williams/Josh Smith/Zaza with Shelden Williams, Speedy, and Salim coming off of the bench. I think that would be an exciting team to watch and something to build around. Add one more big man and a couple of role players, and it might be a championship caliber team.

I think he would benefit our francise in so many ways. I think it would be awesome to see him play with someone of the talent of Joe Johnson in the backcourt. We will fill up the arena. Worse case scenario, we trade him in a year if it doesn't work out. I am tired of Atlanta teams being afraid of someone who doesn't have the squeaky clean image. Iverson is not Rider. Lets get over the past and do something that will benefit our franchise.

I agree, I think Iverson would be great on this team. I am sick of us Atlanta fans being afraid to bring in anyone who is self confident and has a bit of an edge to them.

Why is this trade not breaking. Whats the hold up. Are trying to hold out and bargain with another team. And please don't tell me that you think Foster is a great or even moderately good NBA player. I think that Shelden Williams will be better than Foster by the end of the season. I honestly think that we should try to get Iverson for multiple reasons. He will put people in the stands and bring national attention to the Hawks, instead of being the laughing stock of the league. He plays with heart. As much as some people might want to complain about his attitude and his personal life, he leaves everything on the floor. Other players respect that. Also, he has never played in the backcourt with someone of the talent of Joe Johnson. I think a Al/Childress trade for Iverson would be good, even throw in a lottery protected draft pick. How many non lottery draft picks end up making a big difference in this league. If we get a pick from Indiana, it will not be a lottery pick. I think thats a lot to give up for Al, when I think we could get a lot more. I am tired of Atlanta not bringing in players solely because of their reputation. It seems that we are forever scarred by the Isaiah Rider trade. Also, if it doesnt work out with Iverson, it will not be hard to trade him. He will have one less year on his contract, and he is a great player. Lets do something smart for once. We need to get some attitude on this team. Atlanta is full of pushover teams. The good boys. Lets look at what Detroit was, they have a reputation.
