Memphis would have to give up more to make the salaries match. The answer to your question is that it sounds like a "good" trade if Gasol has no long term problems from his health issues last season and does not replace those of "Speedy Recovery" Claxton so you still might be certifiably clinically "crazy".

Quote:Great trade for us - decent trade for Memphis if they buy into Zbo but pretty aweful for Portland, IMO, unless they just are desparate for Conley.
Portland wanting to move Randolph and his contract. Not a bad deal.

That was hilarious !!!

Atlanta has a large Asian population that just might turn onto NBA basketball and fill a lot of seats to see "General Yi". He has a large Asian press following him now in workouts.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL !!!!
He moves more east and west before he even moves "forward".

Whats happenin Swat! I am sure you are having a great time. I like Golden Gate Park and the Oriental Gardens. The one time that I covered the coast and went to something other than San Fran, I flew to LA, rented a car and drove to beautiful San Diego, took the trolley to Tiajuana. Then I drove back to LA and took a real tour of the city with a old high school friend who lives out there. I then drove to San Fran and caught a Oakland A baseball game the next day.

I do recognize that Lue is an important part of the offense because he can actaully hit a shot!
My thought is that Lue will be a wonderful backup (change of pace)... But I would rather have Speedy starting games off. Speedy needs another nickname. I say "Speedy Sticky fingers".
I think our game plan will be simple. Build a lead. Then let Lue and JJ play 3 point barrage and ruin the opponents confidence like they did last night.
Everybody associated with Orlando was sad last night.
I say we call him "Speedy Recovery" Claxton. His health is going to be problematic probably for the rest of his career.
Count me as an unabashed Lue fan. When we got him from Houston for Barry I thought we may have been shorted out (no pun intended), but I have grown to appreciate him for his leadership, giving up his body for the hardfouls in some really physical mismatches. His body will not be able to take much more at this point in his career. Zaza's hard foul flopping is laughable.
I think he is JJ's best complement, on the team, in a 2 man game of getting open and "hitting the shots".

Quote:Like many have said, who would even take this job if Woody were fired, given the ownership situation? Let's face it...we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. It sucks to be a bad team but it is downright depressing when you not only suck but there is such dysfunction in the front office that it offers little or no hope of a better tomorrow. I wish Stern could do something to resolve our pathetic situation.
Only time will tell but I wonder if we may become like the old LA Clippers and our core guys (except JJ w/long contract) will want to take their next opportunity to abandon the ship.

Looking at the times of these above posts it seems we are all losing sleep over these guys.

Quote:Take time to give thanks. In all of our differences we are all blessed. Basketball is a great sport and a wonderful distraction, but in the grand scheme of things not all that important. As the world takes pause on this silent night, let us all give thanks and put aside our differnece for one day. Merry Christmas.
Well said and it could not happen at a better time. Happy holidays !!!

What good is a distributor like "Speedy Recovery" Claxton if we don't have another clutch shooter. He was distributing but no one was hitting. To go from 39 points in the 3rd quarter to 13 in the 4th quarter and give back 40 points to Utah. While the "bandwagon" proposed yesterday in a new post has turned into a "lynch mob" with everyone carrying lighted torches down Peachtree St. While you are looking for a new coach, a new GM, a new center etc... there does not seem to be another person on the roster even with the above changes that can help us when JJ's clutch game goes soft.
-
Lue is arguably our 2nd best clutch shooter this season. What if he holds the ball too long, which seems to be the prevailing problem with those that don't like him. If he could have been ready for these last 2 games their outcomes possibly could have been different. Injuries do count and this game may scar this young team for awhile. We are about to see if they have any resilience or will they get that distant look in the 4th quarter with any lead.
-
Maybe we needed a good brawl with Freije and Bozeman attacking Okur and AK47 in the 4th... Just kidding !!!
You're right "SWAT", we need to light a fire under them somehow. I took my wife to the game and everyone seemed to be stunned until the boo birds came out when we got caught.
-
At the game on the scoreboard they referred to the 3rd quarter as being the Hawks most productive of the season.(39 points) The 4th quarter was easily their worst and least productive. What a difference "consecutive" quarters can be. What a Jekyl and Hyde showing.

Quote:Quote:Quote:What I am asking is if he has that "REFUSE" to lose killer instinct.
Michael Jordan had that "instinct". He has had absolutely horrible games where he was like 2 for 14 in shots and he would be verbally tearing into Kerr and the others to pick up his slack because he was not getting it done and they were "expected" to pick his slack.
Tim Duncan has multiple rings and a similar demeanor to JJ. I don't have a problem with his edge.
Does he have half the rings that Michael has? Of course his career is still ongong and he is not finished. It boils down to the team surrounding them and whether they can deliver regardless of your superstars demeanor. Basketabll is clearly a game of emotions. JJ does not have Tim Duncans team or MJ's.
-
JJ's personality is of course not like Michael Jordan's ; but I was referring to a vocal leader on the court that does not have to look to the bench for guidance. Phil Jackson commented one time that it was like having a coach on the floor, he was so special.

The disagreement among posters is what spikes the interest on this board. If we all agreed this board probably would be pretty boring or we would probably be all San Antonio fans.(lol) The Hawks do need help and you need help with spell check and better sentence structure.

Gentleman JJ needs to sound off more. We all were aware of this before the season started but it is costing the team valuable points esp. with closeness of a lot of these games.
I'm sure Woody is doing his share from the sidelines but the constant camera closeups of his just taking fouls in stride needs to change. (Comments)

Quote:Hey Shelden haters, WOW that man is clutch.
Sheldon in the clutch. Salim stepping up. Was that Ivey bodying up on Miller at the end of the game. Adversity with this team presents lots of opportunities.

With his play so far it shows that he can belong to the "A" team with a season or two or three at this level with as good a supporting cast players as those three have if not better.
Kobe Wants Out
in Homecourt
Posted
Kobe would prefer a team that is 1 player away from contesting for a championship like Dallas or Phoenix (Amare and filler for Kobe). He would like to have Jerry West come back. That is not going to happen. He will not want to come to Atlanta. There is no package we could put together to have the remaining cast as not playoff ready but championship caliber. He wants to win another now because his window of opportunity is closing.
