With this in mind tho how would y'all go about dethroning Cleveland?

I need to post this before the game lol.  The more I get out of my feelings the more I actually feel like we are headed in the right direction.  I still believe we need a superstar and upgrades at the wing.  Would be nice if we could get a wing to fill both even at the expense of a lopsided trade.

The Al Horford max problem may not be a problem at all.  If Al gets the max this year at this cap and the cap goes up the following year by 20 mil, Al's raises don't keep peace.  I'm not a cap expert so don't quote me on this, but if true, by the second year his contract becomes very tradeable, even team friendly.

Their right. This isn't an urgent season unlike what the fanbase thinks.

They are going to resign Al and look at moves in the offseason. The minute we lost Carroll. The season was over. On to next year. Get a #1 option.

I get the trying to mimic the Spurs but they are taking it too far.  The Spurs do whatever it takes to win.  They may have tanked to get Duncan.  There is an article on ESPN about how they readily dumped Thiago to get Aldridge and how they are trying to figure out how to get into the Durant sweepstakes for god's sake.

  3. I don't know how close he is to the organization, but I think this ties into the whole Barkely and Millsap thing after Game 2.  We get offended when the other teams does whatever it takes to win.  One thing that bothers me is that we never mention title like other teams, even teams who have no shot.  If this attitude is top down, it needs to change.

  4. Last night I was ready to blow the team up.  This morning I realize we actually have a lot of options to improve.  If Al signs a three year deal like Milsap, but with player options in the second and third year I say bring him back.  Convince him we tweak and get there in the next year or two and if not, he can leave.

A bench with Korver, Mike Scott, Splitter, Hardaway Jr, may not be bad.  We can move Teague or Schröder.  We can move Hardaway as part of a trade or maybe with another year with the team, he's a capable Shooting Guard.  We have assets.

We need a superstar but we can be smart and get better while waiting for the right opportunity.

Blowing it up means five years of suck with the possibility of being right where we are now in ten years....or maybe a title.

@AmishBoy I get what you're trying to illustrate but I think it would've been a fine discussion without trying to quantify it.  Folks here *ahem* @AHF *cough* are waaaaaay too anal retentive about "analytics".  Now they wanna know what scale you're using, what's your thesis behind the scale, how much data supported your thesis, where did you obtain the data from, what method drove your data gathering, blah, blah, on and on and on .....

Lol.  Yeah, uh...it's not that serious.  The point is we need more talent and where can we place it.

  6. The idea behind the Hawks is that they are better than the sum of their parts.  The question then becomes is this sum greater than the Cavs.  Here is the math.

    Cavs

Lebron - 10.  Everthing is based off him being the highest.

    Love -8

    Kyrie-8

    Jr Smith -5

    Tristan Thomas -5

    A total of 36.

    The Hawks.

    Millsap -8

    Jeff-7

    Horford -7

    Korver -5

    Bazmore -4

A total of 31.  If the sum is greater, is it 5points greater.  I have a hard time thinking it is.  I give it 2 to 3 points.  I hope I'm wrong but if not, how do we make up for it in the summer?

That's too much for an unproven talent. No reason why SAC would take on Splitter when they have Koufos and Cousins.  I wouldn't want Gay either. The ball sticks with him.

You don't think Hardaway can be that guy?

It's really teague or dennis for Gay.  They can cut Splitter but Teague and Splitter make 8 mil and Gay makes 13 mil.

I think two first round picks in the late teens and early twenties plus and second may not be enough for a mid-lottery pick truthfully.

This first game against Cleveland when we came back seemed to me more like Cleveland simply took it's foot off the pedal.  If that's true another Demarre/Bazemore/Hardaway type talent at the wing won't cut it.  I think a major upgrade in talent at the wing will be necessary.

Sorry but I don't want a player named buddy hield on this team

    How about Chavano Hield?

Hield is legit, he's not going to be a star but he's a JJ Redick type player and that's better than Kyle Korver.

Having said that, this proposal is dumb. Who plays PG if you're trading both of the PGs on this team? One of the PGs has to go but not both of them.

    It's called a slash.  It means either/or.

  9. Sorry for opening an old wound, but this shit was driving me crazy.  Thank god I've come back to the conclusion that Billy was an idiot.  I don't think I was going crazy, I think I mistook anger for insanity.  Billy had a great point guard practically handed to him and missed and I forgot we had Al Harrington at the time.  That's like striking out in teeball.  I'm conditioned to believe that we can't succeed the way our team is currently built and hopefully I'm wrong because I now know the only way I will ever get over the Billy Knight era is if we win a title.
