  1. I remember last year when Bibby got here and Woody said something to the effect of, we're going to let Mike run the team and if he wants to change something, we'll change it. Woody got roasted here for that.

Turns out he was exactly right; didn't work immediately as well as it could, 'cause (I strongly believe) Bibby was hurting and they hadn't all played together.

But if you think about this team now versus two years ago - or even early last year - without Bibby, this is a nice-running machine. Before Bibby it was a beautiful car without a battery. You take the good with the bad. Bibby ain't much on defense, it's true, but the team runs - literally and figuratively - on offense now, and that's a healthy Bibby (and development of Marv, Josh, Al, Zaza, smart bench signings).

But Woody's letting him run the offense and still doing his own defensive thing, and it's working nicely.

I think there's at least a little more upside to be had here. How much, I don't know. But I like these guys individually and I like this team. We don't have to worry who's going to get arrested at 4am clubbing, who's going to have a domestic, etc. They've got a good work ethic and if there's more upside to be had, I think Woody and these guys will find it.

I'm just happy to turn the TV on and say, "ooh, there's a Hawks game on tonight" and enjoy it. It's been a long, long time.

    Great post.

  2. These are bad things that we know are going to happen pretty much every game.

    1. Josh is going to shoot and super wide open three and miss.

    2. Josh is going to play point guard and dribble into a bad situation.

    3. Al Horford is going to travel taking his man in the post.

    4. Flip is going to shoot at the end of the quarte when he's in and turn it over.

    5. Marvin is going to get blocked on the inside(I don't think dude can jump well off of one foot.)

    6. Mo is going to commit a unexplainable foul(usually on a screen).

Fix these and maybe we become elite.

  3. Must be Mike Woodson's fault in

0..........Mike Woodson needs to rest Josh Smith and insert Solo into the starting lineup. That's the only way he'll heal. Until that happens our interior defense will be in trouble. What is we make it the finals vs. New Orleans and Josh Smith's ankle is still hurting. Chris Paul will have a field day. We'll probably get swept.

  4. Not long. I think it was less than a year but i could be wrong. The iphone was a brand new phone from a company that had never made a phone before. The Blackberry is pretty seasoned except for the touch screen part. There are things about the blackberry that drive me crazy but all in all its really nice. there was one thing about the storm that seemed like a glaring omisson but i can't remember what it is. Wifi maybe?

Wifi is the thing that's missing so I'm thinking the second gen phone may have it. I don't tend to buy phones often unless the one I have breaks so if I get this one I probably won't run out and buy another one for the new features. The tought just popped in my mind that if I had insurance on my phone i wouldn't be in this mess. So that leads me to wonder if I buy this one and it happens to break after the 2nd gen comes out, will insurance replace it with the 2nd gen. Has this happened to anyone?

  5. I have an LG phone but my screen is cracked and so I need a new phone. I don't want to switch from Verizon unless I have to so I'm asking anyone that has the Storm is it a good phone. I've read some reviews and they have me thinking I should wait for the second generation of the phone to come out, but my impulse buying instinct is in full gear(thanks Christmas) and it's killing me. Also it seems like it's taken forever for the iphone to reach it's third generation so i don't want to wait a year for another damn phone. Does anyone know how long it took from 1st to 2nd generation for the iphone?

  6. I think this one was on JJ. Even when he has bad games the first 3 quarters he almost always comes through for us in the 4th quarter. He tried yesterday and failed and I don't think he understood he wasn't going to get it going like every single other time this season in the 4th quarter. It's looked especially bad last night because of the over dribbling and turnovers he had in the 4th. Still, he's the man.

  7. He did not say trade Smoove for Camby.

His point was that having Camby could make Smoove expendable for another trade.

Thanks. That's exactly what I'm saying. Offensively, Josh keeps making the same dumb plays and thinking he can dribble. His shots would probably be better used somewhere else and like I said defensively Camby is a weak side shotblocker and rebounder. The best things Josh offer right now. Height wise he's good for us. Horford is undersized but strength wise, he's pretty good.

  8. Just forget it, this is the last one this year. Maybe we get one next year too.

If we finish like we've started we'll get more next year for sure. They will pick games that will excite people. I can see Boston, Orlando, and Portland because they're young like us. A good running team like the Knicks maybe.

I just want to see more games like Boston this year. Very exciting and the team and fans get up for it.

  9. I wonder what the rating were and how we fared with other matchups on espn this year. That will probably, more than anything, help us get another game this year. One celtics game is tied up on nbatv and the last one is up in the air. I hope for something. The amount of games we've had on national tv the last couple of years is pretty much disrespectful.

  10. The reality is that Joe usually wins games on jumpshots. I can't even remember a game where Joe wins it at the freethrow line. We all know Joe doesn't attack the basket alot so he doesn't end up in these spots alot. Maybe that's his next level. Lebron, Arenas, and Kobe all used to be the butts of jokes in these situations, but they found themselves in it so much they got better. Joe needs to attack the basket at the end of games more, but really, if I'm other teams, I foul him now instead of letting him shoot a jumper.

  11. Two trends I don't like are giving up a lot of offensive rebounds and getting so many points off of threes. I'm very impressed with our % on threes but I think our offense needs something more sustainable.

We look to be a good 3 point shooting team but sometimes we take them when a better shot much closer to the basket is available, but we do make them so I'm like damn, this could shoot us in the foot later. With that said, we are giving Horford touches more than last year and even though he isn't converting alot of his 1 on 1's I think it's a good thing and will pay off later.

  12. We didn't really know what to expect from the Nets last night. Now

we do. Hopefully, adjustments are coming.

    GO HAWKS!!!

Yeah, this is like a mini playoffs. It will be interesting to see what adjustments Woody makes. I think Solo and Horford together will be effective against the nets.

  13. First off, I'd like to say thank god for DVR. Anyway after reading the boxscore and reading some of the doom and gloom post I was ready to not believe, but then I remembered that I recorded the game.

Brook Lopez dominated ZaZa but we all know ZaZa sucks at defense anyway. The kid has a good motor but he in no way dominated us up front. He got put backs, point blank passes from Devin Harris, some over the back tips, blah blah blah. Didn't dominate Solo or Horford. We played Flip Murray the entire 4th which only left Horford as our big so if any other bigs got points it's because of that. We can still use a big, but we are not in a cardiac situation.

Nets got a whole lot of calls. Especially Devin Harris.

We could use Josh Smith but we did lose this road game and that happens to all teams. It's not the end, we are as good as we seem and we are still 4-2 on the road and 2-2 without Josh.

One good thing is that Acie looked really good in his few minutes.

  14. Both of these games will tell me alot about our team. In the year's past the Bulls have played so physical with us they have somewhat punked us. Hinrich usually defends Joe pretty well but he's out so I expect Joe to torch them. I agree completely with how the Celtics will look at us in wanting to destroy us. I watched the second half of that Toronto game last night and when they got focused they clowned the Raptors. But so did we. Should be two good games to watch.

  15. The problem with the Claxton idea is that he's still injured or he would be active. I have no faith that Claxton will ever be a productive Hawk.

I knew he missed some preseason games, but I thought that was for other reasons.

  16. This Josh Smith thing may be a blessing in disguise, but only if we keep on winning. With Josh Smith being hurt the Hawks will activate a bench player. I guess we'll get to to see Speedy(please hold your applause until I'm finished). Seriously, for all the guys wanting him traded we may get to showcase him for the next 2-4 weeks. Also, in the 3rd quarter of the Toronto game the Hawks really made an effort to go to Al Horford in the post. I don't think that was a coincidence. Touches will only help him develop further. Last but not least someone will have to step their game up or at least take some of JSmoove's shots(I'm talking about Marvin). Maybe well see if he's turning the corner.
