  1. The answer to most of your stuff is below. See my sig for details.

I cannot explaibn for the life of me why Horford, and his dominance, was not put back on the floor until about 4 mins left in the 4th quarter. Suffice it to say, some guy is going to come on here and rationalize it away by justifying Woodson's decision to not put him back in there.

Bibby played terrible the whole game. He is still hurt and all, but him and Joe combined for 6-23. Hard to win that way. Josh Smith had a bunch of TOs in that quarter (and the entire game) as well. Marvin Williams, again, didnt show up...sigh, I am so sick of this same old drivel.

And for the 3rd quarter specifically you ask? Popovich made adjustments, Woodson didnt. So, we got trounced in the 3rd quarter.

    Mission Accomplished?????

About like what Bush said on the aircraft carrier. And we are still fighting.

If we win it is a moral victory, but that's the way it's been all season. A win to ease the pressure off Woody and then five losses. In the end it's not a victory.

Exactly. Kinda like how we beat both the Suns and Mavs early in the season, or the Lakers about two weeks ago, and for what? I dont want to hear this drivel. This is why our team is saddled with mediocrity. We have a long way to go before we start hoping and praying for a win against a team like the Spurs. Winning tonight is great, but it shouldnt start making people cream and punching playoffs tickets. We may win tonight, but by no means is that an inidcator that we can beat good teams on any consistent basis. Hell, we cant even beat the bad teams on a consistent basis...

  3. Yeah, the problem is that we get in these huge holes that not even lights-out 3 point shooting will get us out of. We have to start clamping down on defense or else we wont be beating anyone. That is why I get annoyed when people start saying, "We have a favorable schedule coming up" or "XYZ team is missing a starter or two" So? Have you seen our team lately? We cant beat scrubs much less even the cellar dwellars of the NBA if we dont start playing defense.

Anyway, I expect our 3 point shooting, post-Bibby, will end up around 35% or so. At least it wont be one of our weaknesses anymore (too bad others have now arisen, or at least come to the fore like our bench, interior defense, etc etc).

Btw, who is that in your avatar Hoodstar?

  4. This team is such a different team when they are actually hitting more than one 3 pointer a game.

They look good against a team missing two starters. These are games we are SUPPOSED to win. Let's see if they keep up their stellar play.

On thing I am worried about is Bibby...he sure looked like he was in major pain at the end of the second quarter. He's a warrior though for playing through it. With this 18 pt lead I suppose we can give him some more rest and let Salim, Chill, and Joe man the PG duties for the time being.

  5. Yes, we are watching the same game. He looked a lot better out there than he used to. He started chucking a bit at the end, but he generally deferred quite a bit and looked decent. Just about every player is going to look bad with someone draped all over you. And yes, I know he was playing the point when he was in there...that was obvious.

Yo, it's just one game. And he's playing one of the worst D's in the league...

one game that he got to play.

Exactly...he finally got some minutes. I knew people would come in here and trash Salim's good play.

  7. He looks good out there...and he's NOT chucking it...He is deferring the basketball and is only shooting when he is wide open. That sequence right before the end of the 1st quarter was sexy.

But dont let the Salim haters come in...they will surely tell you otherwise.

The youngest team in the league making the playoffs would be huge. Not only because we'd have a really young team that could be perenially playoff bound but more importantly, you gain an immense amount of confidence by going there and it can really straighten a young teams mind frame.

The youngest team in the league is Portland.

Yeah, we are no longer in the top 5 in regards to the youngest teams. Therefore that "excuse" by many fans and Woodson is outdated.

  9. Agree for the most part.

One thing though, I wish people would stop incorrectly using the word "thug." Good grief, by the way some of you use it, it becomes more and more conspicuously apparent that you have no idea what it means. It's more like "Hey, he's black...let's call him a thug for doing [insert something stereotypical of black people]."

    Yeah...

Anyway, I am not going to say much about the game. I'm sure Diesel will come in on his high horse and all give us the "My Take on the Kings Game" drivel. All I will say is that this team needs major changes before we EVER become a consistent good team. And it begins in the Front Office and Management.

  10. I can totally agree with you on that. They can't afford to let that kid go. They thought the uproar after the Charlotte games was bad...oh ho. If they, for whatever way, let Smoove go, they will witness the most vitriol-laden backlash that they have even seen.

An improved Horfy playing alongside an older J Smoove next year will be a sight to see.

I said NOT to give up so early on him being our starting 5.

Again with your lack of reading comprehension. I said he has to be our full time 5 right now because Zaza blows. But ideally he would be better used if his time was split evenly between the 4 and 5.

Hence the need for a center, which Sekou, Woodson, Horford himself and everyone else (except a here) can easily see.

    Well, that proved my suspicions...

Anyway, I could have more intellectually stimulating discussion with my two dogs.

    Have at it guys...

    Sigh...

    1) J Smoove does NOT play 48 minutes at the 4. He barely plays 35 mpg..and they are NOT all at PF.

Man you are slow. You are agreeing with me and you don't even realize it. LOL

YOu just pointed out why Horford could easily play 15-20 minutes at the 4.

And you arent very bright. I never said he couldnt play the 4. I said NOT to give up so early on him being our starting 5. That is where I fundamentally and most vehemently disagree with you.

Please get it right before you start patting yourself on the back. I swear, are you like 10?

Show me one column written by anyone, or any post by a non-Hawks fan, who thinks Horford is best used as a full time center.

    Just one.

Of course Horford would be a better 4 than a 5...but that doesn't mean he can't be a damn solid 5 since we already have a good 4.

But here is the issue. Smith can't play 48 minutes at the 4. Hoford can get 15-20 minutes at the 4 easily IF we had a legit center.

Right now we don't have a legit center (Zaza blows) which forces the Hawks to play Horford there as much as possible.

    Sigh...

    1) J Smoove does NOT play 48 minutes at the 4. He barely plays 35 mpg..and they are NOT all at PF.

    2) J Smith will likely be re-signed. If that happens, he will be our PF of the future.

    3) We will get another Center. But to think he needs to start or play more than 15-20 mins a game is fool-hardy.

    4) Horford may turn out to be a better option at the 4. However, J Smoove is there now. Plus, Horford is still a rookie finding his way. Just be glad he didnt hit the damn rookie wall. I am so glad some of you arent real GMs...

  14. Ex would clearly be one of those coaches/GMs who would give up on a player way too early just because he 1)isnt a prototype and 2)doesnt IMMEDIATELY show the skills that only the RARE immediately show when they enter the NBA at a tough position.

Plus, he is way too close-minded to have a mature conversation with...as you have witnessed here.

BusBoy, it's not worth your time. I got better things to do now than have my IQ drop responding to posts like that.

I have ALWAYS said that...but that Center should be a BACKUP just to ease pressure off Horford for like 15 mins a game. At this point, we dont need to grab some starter Center to play the 5 and slide Horford to 4. To say Horford can't play Center longer term like you have is just plain ignorant.

What is ignorant is thinking that all we need is a guy who can come in and play 15 minutes per game.

Right now we have nobody on the roster who can effectively guard big post players. If you really want me to list all the games Horford got abused or in foul trouble quickly i can but you won't like the list.

Horford is fine playing some center but he is better off splitting his time fairly evenly between the 4 and 5. Everyone can see this except Hawks homers.

Wow, I somewhat respect you, but that has to be one of the most unintelligent, close-minded, vitriol-laden, and immature-riddled posts I have ever seen on here.

    Period.
