Curry makes nowhere near 10-12 mil that Smoove makes. It would have to be Biedrins/Curry or something just to make the salaries match.
Fine by me, that fills two holes. Move Curry to start at pg, Bedrins starts at center with Horford shifting to pf. What are the odds we would pull this off, though?

In Atlanta, the fans wont come out unless the team is interesting and exciting to watch. That's why the Falcons drew in Vick's last years when their record was mediocre, that's why the Braves have been drawing slightly more in recent years, and that's why the Hawks seem to be drawing less in recent years.
This Hawks team is BORING. Sorry, but it's the truth. Our most exciting player pouts half the time, our highest paid player calls out the fans, our bench has nothing going on if Jamal is cold, etc. Ownership NEEDS to make a trade because this team needs a shakeup badly...this roster isn't making it past the 2nd round as currently constructed.

I think Point Guard is the greater of the two needs. We can't defend quick point guards with Bibby, or we wear out JJ trying to stop them. A good point guard would cut down on Horford and Smoove having to step up and defend the driving pg once they blow past Bibby, allowing them to better defend the rim. Plus Zaza and Collins can give us a good game here and there, and we'll be running Horford out at Center is the majority of games. A good point guard also drops Bibby to the bench, where I think he could have a very strong effect. We need more scoring off the bench anyways.
-
Its clear that he is NOT the point guard of the future, now that Jordan Crawford is getting minutes over him.
The reality is that Teague can't shoot, lacks confidence, makes bad turnovers, and can't finish at the rim which essentially negates his speed to the hole. This all wouldnt have been a problem for the Hawks if we hadnt passed on Paul and Deron, so I blame Billy Knight.
We need to do the same thing with Teague that we did with Acie Law and the Slumlord...sell now while their value is artifically high from their draft status.

There is ZERO chance that JC2 will be able to replace JC1's production. Not this year, not next year, and probably not ever. We need to keep Jamal. Either resign him with the current roster, or move Marvin and/or Zaza to keep Jamal.
No matter what, we cant lose him. Our bench production would turn to zilch in an instant, JJ's minutes would go up, and we'd be much less explosive offensively.

That wouldn't be a good trade. Why trade Teague and JC2?
Because they aren't that good.

Marvin to the bench again? Marvin had less minutes than Jason Collins? Wow, maybe there is something to Marvin getting benched. Collins getting 12 boards also doesnt help Marvin's case. Sad that we have so much money tied up to him, if this is his new permanent status.
-
The core of Joe, Josh, and Al alone will be making $46mil in 2012. The soft cap or hard cap or whatever the CBA institutes is not getting very high over 60 mil. We cannot afford Dwight unless we move either of Joe, Al or Smoove, period end of story end thread.
Fine. I'll gladly move any one of them for Howard, preferably Hoford or Smoove if I had to pick, though a Smoove-Horford-Howard trio would have a lot of athleticism.
-
Trading Josh Smith also costs us our only shot blocker.
-
Move Smoove to 3 only if we can trade away either Marvin or JJ. Otherwise, Smoove makes more sense for this ROSTER at the 4.
-
Trade him asap before he gets hurt again. The injuries aren't going to stop with him, not when you consider how hard atl coaches have run him over the years. Resign Crawford to a three year deal. A Horford-Smoove-Crawford core is Proving itself to be sustainable and successful.
-
Woodson's fault? He wore JJ down repeatedly, a trend that Drew has continued.

What streak do you speak of, kind sir?

First time vie seen them...wow. Those pics are great. Thanks for bumping them up.

"According to NBA.com's David Aldridge, the odds of an agreement being reached are at "about 50-50."
Makes me wonder if we are low-balling him as a stall tactic to wait for the new cba to be signed.

I am disillusioned about this offseason. We are coming back with almost the exact same roster and coaching staff as last year's team that got completely SMOKED in the 2nd round for the second straight year. I would say that well over 50% of the East improved this offseason...but I don't feel like the Hawks can make that claim. This feeling reminds me of when it was clear that the Smitty-Blaylock-Mutumbo Hawks had peaked.

I don't blame Sund, he's a puppet. I blame ASG, poor contract decisions (Bibby, Zaza, JJ), and lack of fan support in the stands.
-
Why stop at T-Mac? Let's also sign Shaq and Iverson. We'd sell a lot more tickets, and it would make for compelling television.
-
I'd trade anyone for Paul. He's that good.
-
Worst contract in sports? Debatable. Worst contract given out this summer? I think so.

No . . he's this generation's version of Shawn Kemp . . even though he refuses to fully embrace his "Kemp-ness". If he did, Smoove could take his game to the next level. But to compare Smoove to Barkley is a disservice to Barkley. Smoove is a good, exciting player in the mold of Kemp. But Barkley flat out DOMINATED people.
Good comparison, he is this gen's Shawn Kemp.
Josh Smith is good, but please don't insult Barkley. Until Josh Smith can average over 20 points a game at least once, or make an all-star team at least once, or lead his team to the Finals, or win MVP...until Josh Smith can do all of that, then there is no argument, Barkley >>>>>> Josh Smith.

He got one thing right, his contract is hideous.

...another roster debacle caused by JJ's terrible contract. Only five more years to go.

Orlando, Miami, and New York all won 3 games against us last season. That could happen again. 9 total
Chicago, Milwaukee, and I'll throw in Washington, will be stronger. I'll say combined, those teams can win 5 games
Sweeping Boston was a dream. I'll say that we split next year. We'll also split with Charlotte. 4 games total
The rest of the East we should have little trouble with. 4 losses total.
Out West, the only team to sweep us, was Oklahoma City. We were 21 - 9 vs the West last year. I don't see that changing much. I'll say we go 21 - 9 again.
So that 22 East losses + 9 West losses = 31 losses.
As is right now, we're a 51 - 31 team. But that also means we're probably the #5 seed, and will be on the road for the 1st round of the playoffs.
That is NOT good. That's a 1st round WAR vs either Boston or Chicago most likely. Us not having home court in a series like that, could spell the end of our season for us very quickly.
+1
I think we win around 48 games, simply because we are probably the fifth best team at best in the East. And like others said, there will be growing pains with LD's new offense, Teague, and the inevitable clash between LD and Smoove to establish who is top dog in the locker room.
Allstar Reserves will be announced tonight on TNT

Smoove will never make it unless he quits pouting and complaining to refs. The players and fans see this and it is starting to shape his perception...Hubie Brown made sure to call out Smith. The only other way he could make it would be to just blow up in the stat sheet, start averaging 18+ points, but that isn't going to happen with the current roster.
