Pierce was indeed the scapegoat I tried to tell y'all he was.  Team's flawed.

    Anybody want some-a this schmoke?

I don't agree with the LP take, but I will call that take with this:

We were too quick to re-up N8. Should of at least looked around, took swing @ Vangundy etc.

  2. Come here and say what you think is tough truth about this team. It's judgement free zone, where you are free to state a less than popular opinion if you dare.

My first one is that TS overvalued many of our players this summer and last. I think we had some 3.5 star guys, on 1 to 2 star deals, that aren't as appealing on there current contracts. Seeing what the experts and rumor mills are churning beyond Trae we can't move any of our chips for a 4-5 star player. I think Cam was a course correction and we may be sellers over the next year or so.

I don't think anyone is upset because TS and LP/Nate never gave him a shot here.  Those of us sorry to see him gone are disappointed that his development never reached the point (or close to the point) of maximizing his tools (with injuries and the Covid shutdown being a huge part of that).  We aren't sad because he never had a chance to play, it is because we hoped he would take the leap in an Atlanta uniform and for a variety of reasons that didn't happen.  Just got snippets of it like the big strides his last few months as a rookie and his big games in the playoffs last year which were followed by some regression and ultimately led to his requesting to leave before he'd reached that next level.

As a fan, I'm more indifferent to him now that he is in New York but I still feel like he could blossom.  Can easily see a scenario where he rides the bench until he shows Thibs he understands what he needs to do on the floor and is bought in and then moves from DNP-CD to a key part of New York's rotation.  Maybe that doesn't happen and he takes the leap with his next team.  Who knows.  Just sad my dreams of Cam being a two-way force will never happen in Atlanta and my hopes and expectations are much less for Knox and unnamed FRP.

I get it, but as Hawks fan, shoot an NBA fan, most guys go the route of Cam. I have heard  2/3 of 1st rd players don't make it past their first contract.

  4. Why do folks act like Cam never got a shot? He started 63 games with Atl. His averages per season are pretty much identical. He is an average player. He does nothing exceptional on a basketball court. He is a role player who wants to be a star because folks tell him he is. If he would except being a John Collins type that does what is needed he could excel. He is Aaron Mckie in a larger package.

  5. People made the same arguments against Nique.  Doesn't make the team better etc.  The year they truly put the pieces around him they traded him.  And guess what we were missing in the playoffs? Someone to get his shot off.  The advance stats, the eye test, the playoffs say Trae is 75% of the solution and 25% the problem. Don't focus on the 25% Concerning Trae.  Get 4 other guys to carry the %25.  If we were just average on defense we would be contenders.  That ain't all on Trae

  6. Capela has not been great and isn't healthy.  Cam is playing too much ball dominance for a minus player.  Bogi not defining his role, but that is Nates fault.  Kevin is obviously recovering.  JC has been our best player.  Hunter is hunting for his shot too much.  Trae has been off, like he is either moving too slow or too fast for the other guys.

I get stuff like this, but I hate it.  Your attaching a general point about the teams offense with a second unit group that I guarantee hasn't played 15 on court minutes together.  It has 1 guy coming off injury this summer and 2 completely new guys.  Not that Nekias is wrong, but don't point to a High School performance of Grease to lecture me about the fall of American acting.

Kidding aside, Diesel's point that Simmons is better than we give him credit for around here in general is probably true.   But i still don't want him.   For 2 reasons - way too expensive and i don't like guys who can't shoot unless they are big centers.   But i understand some feel differently.     He'd be great for the Warriors.   I don't think he's our style.

Money..plain and simple.  Ben is a draw two that takes up draw four type space on the cap.  He could very well hinder you from obtaining a draw four in the future.
