Yeah, Lowe's the best. Obviously I wish he would've picked us, but fandom aside, that's a great preview of this series.

Here we go...
-
Surely we did this for a 2nd round pick or something, right?
-
No way. Every move Ferry has made puts us in a better position moving forward. Building a winning program takes time. You can't knock Ferry if we don't land CP3 or D12, as they're essentially rejecting a team/franchise he hasn't yet had the opportunity to construct.
In God I trust, but Danny Ferry is top 5.

Ah, that's right. Makes sense. Thanks. No you cannot amnesty a player acquired via trade now or in the future. The only player the Hawks could amnesty would be Al and we're certainly not going to do that.
-
::::IGNORANT QUESTION ALERT!!!::::If we picked up Hedo in a deal for Dwight, could we then turn around and amnesty him immediately? Or do we have to wait? I don't know how the amnesty rules work.I understand that may or may not even be an issue Ferry is considering, but I was just wondering.Apologies if we've already covered this, but I don't remember seeing it.

If nothing else, it's really fun that we're at least included in the conversation for a change, isn't it?
From my perspective, Danny Ferry has already earned the benefit of the doubt. I'm now of the attitude that he will make the right moves until I see proof otherwise. What do you think?

To those making the (I'll admit, logical) argument that Dwight has only said he'll sign with Brooklyn, I have to respectfully raise one counterargument: You're basing this on the premise that Dwight Howard isn't likely to change his mind from day to day. I believe we've all seen proof of the contrary.Put him and Josh on a team together. Suddenly they're hometown heroes and kings of ATL. I'm not saying for sure that this would make them both decide to re-sign with Atlanta, but I think you have to admit there's a chance, especially if Ferry is as serious as he seems about making moves to change this team.Besides, it's worth a shot. What's the alternative? Stay put?

I'm just waiting for a second press release, correcting the first by stating that they actually signed Ferry to be their new starting SF.
"I've still got something left in the tank," Ferry said in a recent interview. "I beat my wife in HORSE 8 times out of 10."
-
Cautiously optimistic - not about Ferry - but about how much power he will be given by ASG to run the team. Let's hope they don't handcuff him.

Hey guys,I posted a new blog on Peachtree Hoops today. My favorite line from the blog is: "I'm an Atlanta Hawks fan, which means every May, I have to pick a new team to root for."Let me know what you guys think. The Spurs, The Thunder, Math, and Light Beer

Would you take D'Antoni if you knew Steve Nash would come with him?We probably wouldn't win a title, but at least we'd be more fun.
-
I'm not mad at'cha, Al. You played a good series.
-
Good point. I think you and I actually agree on the main point - we're just using different words. Thanks for checking it out!I disagree, we aren't hated. We are undesirable, that's actually worse.

My first blog post on Peachtree Hoops - The Most Hated Team in the NBA. Obviously I would love to know what you guys think.BTW - I hope it's cool for me to link to the Peachtree Hoops blog here. I'm pretty sure that this site plays nice with that site. However, if I've committed a message board faux paus here, please just let me know and I'll delete this with my apologies.

Yeah, I kinda figured. My fault for not keeping up.We've had this discussion on here already
-
So I'm kinda torn here. Am I a bad fan for thinking it wouldn't be the worst thing for us to miss the playoffs? I mean, we're a good team, but we're not really a contender this year, right? However, we do have some strong pieces. We don't have the cap room to sign any big name free agents this summer, and I don't think any major trades are likely. But - if we were to fall out of the playoff picture and possibly get a lottery pick - doesn't that make us a scary team next season? Horford wil be back, Teague will have another year under his belt, and we can hopefully add a quality draft pick to the mix.I'm not a big proponent of tanking, but at the same time, I don't feel like I'd be upset if we fell out of the playoff picture altogether.

That sucks, though I did take a small bit of joy from seeing that NY was the only team worse than us.
