  1. I wouldn't call Monta a shooter. He is a scorer in my view. Shooters are generally players that make the outside shot fairly consistently, Monta takes those but doesn't make as much to call him a shooter.

    He can't pass either.

True, scorer probably is a better description of him. I don't think he fits, but if Coach Bud really does want him and gets him then I will be on board. I will be confused, but I will be on board.

  2. Coach Bud has said over and over that he loves shooters and Monta Ellis is definitely a shooter. Other than that he doesn't seem to fit.

Can he pass or does anyone even know because he always looks to shoot? Serious question.

  3. No. He's wrong and trying to sound smart.

There's a difference between a "Summer Contract" and your typical NBA Player Contact. The Summer one only covers Summer League and guess what Edy signed one of those last year to play in our Summer League team.

Edy might refuse a Summer Contract in order to leverage a Player Contact, but you don't HAVE to sign Edy for an NBA contract for him to play summer league.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking, but there are so many NBA rules that I'm not clear on so I wasn't sure. CViv brought it up and said he just found that out about Edy so I wonder who told him that.

  4. I heard on the radio the other day that the Hawks will have to sign Edy to a contract in order for him to play in our summer league. They said Edy might not do that because he might can make more money staying where he is. I think it was CViv that said it.

I don't know how all of that works so hoping somebody here can fill me in. Is he right about that?

  5. A couple of months ago I was told about the new uniforms and if it holds true you should expect to be surprised. Lime green is on it's way for sure. I guess I should ask for an update, but I haven't been told anything has changed.

  6. I was hoping to see Payne do well here, but it was becoming obvious that something wasn't right. I have wondered the last few days if we would trade him. I think I even mentioned that in one of these threads.

It definitely is a fail since we don't even get that pick for years. I have been thinking though that we have so many young guys how will the draft picks next year fit on the team. We still have Edy and Lamar Patterson too.

Earlier when I saw Gary Neal might be available I wondered if he was a possibility. I know he used to hit a lot of 3's with the Spurs. Is he still good or not really worth the pick up?

It is pretty exciting to know somebody will be coming in.

  7. That article sounded like the Assistant GM has definitely been suggesting some player trades to Bud. I really wonder which guys were mentioned.

What the heck, lets bring in Garnette and Ray Allen, lol. Do those guys still get along? Seems like they had a fallen out, but not sure how true that is. Of course, I don't want to trade any of our players either and I definitely don't want to trade the 1st round pick since that pick could end up being really good. John Jenkins is the only player I want to lose.

  8. My hope is that they are looking at a younger veteran who can provide a presence on both ends of the floor. A true 3 and D type who can come off the bench and be a factor. Someone say 28-32ish years old? I have no idea who it is but that's exciting to hear about them possibly making a move. It's interesting that there was an interview with Bud just the other day where he talked about the chances of making a move being slim because they're worried about disrupting chemistry.

It's definitely exciting to hear something is in the works. Of course, that doesn't mean something will happen, but it sounded like there is a good chance.

There are a few other veterans that would fit in here who could help and we don't really need much help. Just somebody to put us over the top. I like the thought of Ray Allen and he could be a great addition. Of course, I also see your negative points about him, but we don't need him to play a ton of minutes. I wonder if there is a chance that Payne could be included in a trade if we go that route. No telling.

Koonin also mentioned that the assistant GM is very hard at work right now and doing a great job. Good to know we have him and it's not taking up too much of Bud's time.

  9. How can you get fined for talking about a guy who's a free agent?

It was a little confusing, but they started out talking about trades and he said he didn't want to get fined. Right after that he was asked about Ray Allen and he said no comment(not his exact words).

Something is definitely in the works and it sounded like there are several options that are being looked at. The way he responded to the Ray Allen question sounded like it's definitely an option they are looking at. He said we will hear more when it gets closer to the deadline.

  10. I'm looking and listening around and the Hawks are getting bombarded by media today. They said there are 20 cameras on players as they are getting interviewed. I wonder if the Golden state players are getting as much attention. I assume they might be, but I haven't seen it.

It seems a bit much to me and I hope it doesn't effect the game. It's one thing to do post game interviews, but this is a little different. The one positive is I think it will help the players get used to it when we go far into the playoffs. We will find out tonight how they handle it. If we play really well and win tonight it will show we are ready for the attention.

  11. Really good to see Jenkins doing well. I admit I have not had much confidence in him this season. On that fast break when he scored I expected him to lose the ball and not make the shot because that's what he used to do. If he keeps building up his confidence he can be a good player.

  12. When Pero is hitting his 3's teams don't have a chance against us. I really wish he would be more consistent, but hopefully he will step up in the playoffs.  By the way, looks like he is resting tonight.

A friend of mine, who works at Phillips told me a couple of weeks ago that she was wandering around Phillips on her lunch break and saw Korver and Pero practicing their shooting. Was good to hear that Pero is trying to improve and has Korver helping him. Sux it hasn't helped much yet.
