  1. The empty seats are in the club section which is where the corporate folks sit. The rest of the house is packed out.

I also notice that jenkins is in a suit tonight. Was he dressed for game one?

Thanks, that's very good to know and I'm really glad to read that the fans are pumped there.  That goes along with my idea for the Hawks to get corporate seats filled. Those seats are so often not used. I actually had a free ticket to be sitting in the club section, but couldn't go. The ticket did get used though.

Jenkins is a healthy scratch tonight.

  2. That 3D show and intro was really cool and I'm glad they showed it on TV. It kind of sucked though when they turned on the lights I noticed there were a lot of empty seats. Koonin has to thinking are you kidding me.

I'm still excited and we are looking really good. Wish I was there.

  3. Lol, some of you guys are a tough crowd. To me it seems Nique is excited about the team and is open to suggestions on how to make the fan experience better. Everyone knows we have an attendance issue and it could be worse after what has happened recently so I don't see why it's a problem to try to get more people to the games. I get the grammar thing and some of what you are saying, but try to think of it in a positive way. If it helps the fan experience and helps attendance then it's a good thing.

Did anyone mention to him about having a ladies night like someone here suggested? I would suggest a family night too, but I think they already do that.

One issue that I think gets overlooked is the cooperate seats that don't get used. I have a friend who gets free tickets through his work and he said every time he goes he is the only one using the seats. That company has 8-10 seats, I think and they are very good seats that are close to the floor. He said he thinks other employees feel weird asking for the seats so they just don't do it. My guess is that happens a lot. I suggest figuring out a way to get those company owned seats filled. Can someone with twitter tweet that to Nique? What do you guys think about this issue?

  4. Not sure why but they don't air the game online. You have to listen to it via a real radio.

Ballstreams has been good to me at least for watching replays of old games over the summer.

Thanks for answering. I wonder why they don't air the games online. 92.9 even tweeted "listen to the game on the radio or online".

I did get ballstream for a week and watched the game last night. It is worth $13 to me to watch 4 preseasons games and it looked good.

  6. I just wanna hear that the report on his feelings of Ryan Cameron are false. And the report of he and Bruce possibly trying to block the statue of Nique being created.

Don't just assume Ferry was totally hating on Ryan Cameron. Ferry was new to the Hawks and was discussing with the owners how to bring more people to the games. He may have wondered out loud if Cameron was good for that or not and maybe that was shut down quickly. Did Cameron get demoted? You mentioned Cameron didn't even know about it. This is one of the huge problems with all this coming out. People hear small things that were said(probably coming from Gearon) and automatically assume the worse.

We certainly don't know the details of the statue of Nique either. There is no telling what the real story is on that. I don't see why Ferry would be completely against that. Don't assume Ferry was thinking no that will never happen.

  7. Tons of positive stuff in the scouting report and there is a good chance Ferry mentioned a lot of that too, but all we heard on audio was this part. This report coming out has got to help Ferry, but the fact that they had to release it I'm sure will cause issues with some of the people who were quoted in the report.

One thing that is not mentioned enough is that Ferry wanted to sign him and tried to sign him. Not just sign him, but offered him 10 million dollars.

Also not mentioned enough is an independent investigator went through all of his emails and did not find anything else racially insensitive or anything insensitive to anyone. Please thing about that real hard. Nothing else was found out of 100's if not 1000's of private emails.

  8. How is the AJC getting all of this? Gearon? These discussions should never be seen by the public because they were private conversations in a multi million dollar business. I'm not talking about the racial stuff either. I'm talking about these guys discussing free agents, Ryan Cameraon, etc. These types of things are discussed all the time in businesses and are not meant for other people to hear them. Owners and managers talk all the time about their employees and if that employee or other people heard the negative things it would create conflict.

Anybody hearing them talk about some negative things with certain people will over react and this whole thing will continue to snowball. We don't really know what Ferry said about Cameron and Ferry was new here at the time. Did anything change with Cameron? He didn't get fired or demoted did he?

Why don't we hear about other stuff that was mentioned in the conversation with Ferry and Levenson after that first email?  I'm almost positive if it was negative we would be reading it.

  9. I'm exited about Koonin. I don't know a lot about him but he's worked for some huge companies and I love his vision and excitement for the team. Time will tell if anything changes, but I hope it does.

Yeah, I'm feeling good about it too. There are things that can be done and I'm happy the organization realizes that and is addressing it. I think we can at least expect some improvement because he seems to know what he is doing.

  10. I haven't seen it mentioned much, but I'm curious what people think of Steve Koonin(new CEO). I heard him on the radio a few months ago and he seemed really excited about making the Hawks more relevant, etc. He also mentioned they will be doing a lot of things to make the fan experience much better.

I read some things about him and he seems legit. I think/hope he will have some great ideas and really help out.

Also, one thing I think that hurts is all the corporate seats that are sold. I know it's great to sell them and you have to, but those seats don't get used a lot of times. A friend of mine works for a company who has 8-10 seats that are down close to the floor. He sometimes takes his son to a game and uses 2 of the seats. He said every time he goes he is the only one sitting in those seats and when he watches on TV those seats are usually empty.

“Steve Koonin’s reputation as a game changer in both marketing and media makes him the ideal leader to usher the Atlanta Hawks into a new era. He has created a legacy as an expert in sports marketing, television, branding and digital media,” Hawks co-managing partner Bruce Levenson said in a statement. “The Hawks are thrilled that Steve is joining the ownership group as both our CEO and a partner.”
