  1. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11212939/atlanta-hawks-lead-winners-2013-free-agency-nba Winners of free agency Atlanta Hawks PG Jeff Teague, W DeMarre Carroll, W Kyle Korver, PF Paul Millsap, C Pero Antić During the 2013 offseason, the Hawks signed five players -- either re-signed (Teague and Korver) or acquired via free agency (Carroll and Millsap, both from the Utah Jazz, and international veteran Antić). Combined, these players made less than $30 million while helping the Hawks take the Indiana Pacers to a full seven games in '14, and that's without center Al Horford. Millsap was the biggest bargain, earning just $9.5 million for an All-Star season, but Carroll and Korver were a solid wing duo for less than $10 million combined. Give Danny Ferry the highest marks for his use of free agency. Nice to see some more recognition for the Hawks in the National Media, hopefully Ferry can figure something out for this offseason as well, doesn't seem like he'll get as high of marks this year.
  2. So trading Josh and losing his caphold is the best option.. unless your trying to get a dwight josh frontcourt.. in which case we wouldn't be able to sign anyone else... AND we would probably trade horford
  3. And I'm not sure exactly how this works but would Josh's cap hold cause problems with us re-signing our own free agents to larger deals(Teague)?
  4. Humphries only has one and a half years left on his deal. It seems extremely unlikely that were going to sign Howard or Paul this offseason, IDK if Howard wouldn't even be worth the risk.. Other than those two what other free agents are worth pursuing this year? Then after next year we keep our cap flexibility when there are far more top tier free agents available.. And we also get a solid prospect in Brooks and a 1st round draft pick.. I think we end up with more than that if a trade does happen for Smith but what I'm trying to say is that trade barely efffects our future flexibility and cap space at all.
  5. What? yes they would.. a mid first rounder and prospect like Brooks cost barely anything and wouldn't even have a noticeable effect on our cap situation
  6. I'm interested to see what teams are being discussed are being discussed for the third team.. and hopefully this progresses quickly just so theres something to talk about
  7. I could see there being a third team brought in for both Dallas and Phoenix..
  8. no thank you on mcgee... as boneheaded as they come too bad writers and bloggers dont talk positively of josh for the most part... maybe his perceived trade value would be higher if there wasnt so much negative talk about his shot selection and attitude
  9. This makes us a whole lot better imo. but do the clippers want to mess with their chemistry like this after theyve been winning? Replacing two starters like that. But it does free up alot of cap room for them this offseason.. If this scenario happened would they have enough money to sign Howard Paul and Smith? and keep Griffin?
  10. Does this mean that the Hawks don't expect to be in the running for Dwight?

    Greg Oden

While I somewhat agree with the idea that we should trade one of either Josh or Horford.. I feel like that both will be kept with the ownership situation along with the CBA and us doin better in the playoffs than in the past couple of years. IMO the best way for the Hawks to improve next season is to improve from within the organization (development of Teague, maturity of Josh Smith, another year of team becoming comfortable with Drew and his offense) That being said.. the addition of a player like Greg Oden and the potential that he has to contribute would be a risk that the Hawks should take without question. I doubt that he will ocsts much with the freak injuries he's had the past three years. If we did sign him.. i wouldn't want to give him the starting spot immediately for obvious reasons but if he were to come in and show that he deserves to start then I would definitely want to see him starting in the "big" lineup that Drew used last year in place of Collins. Then I'd sign some cheap vets to come in and fill out the roster like Mario West for SG and Vald Radmonovic or Craig Smith for PF...with this lineup: Teague/Heinrich/Sy Johnson/West Smith/Williams/Wilkens Horford/Smith Oden/Zaza/Collins Heinrich would play most of the backup minutes at SG and Smoov ewould back up PF for the most part so I feel like depth wouldn't be much of a problem with this team.. maybe pickup another combo guard or something but other than that I feel like this would be a champ caliber team if Oden and our big three show up in the playoffs.
  13. Please let them waive him he's better than both miller and shaq. A better fit for us, at least.
  14. I'd actually prefer Miller to Shaq. Should be alot cheaper and will definately not be a distraction. Hopefully the Bobcats waive Dampier I feel like he'd be the ideal fit for the Hawks.
