  1. They didn't just happen to struggle, they got totally exposed and the only time they performed somewhat better on the boards is when they played at the 3 and 4, not 4 and 5. Also, it's been shown repeatedly that relying heavily on trying to outrun your opponent, especially in the playoffs, doesn't work. In addition, the Hawks need to bring in someone who has the ability to score in the paint because neither Smoove or Al are that good at scoring in the post.

I'm not going to say that they are terrible rebounders just cuz one playoff series. It's ridiculous. Both of them have proved though all their careers that they can rebound.

And regarding the run & gun offense, it's the best offense that fits this roster like it or not. Our front court isn't big enough to play the half court effectively, but they are athletic freaks & that athleticism it's being wasted. Even fn Marvin will go nuts running, probably the only way to get offense out of him. While we have those guys, the best thing to do is run. Now, if 1 or 2 of them are traded we can play something else.

  2. An example of a Joe Johnson trade that works and is workable because of team issues.

    http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/5886854

Johnson, Williams for Bynum, Artest and Blake.

Now assuming you add a 3rd team that would want to make this a 3 way to make the lineups palatable, it looks like this for the Hawks on paper,

    Bynum/Zaza

    Horford/

    Smith

    Hinrich/Artest

    Teague/Blake/Sy

You sit at about 65 million with 3 players to sign. Blake is signed for 3 more years at 4 million per. Artest is signed for 11-12 with a 2 year player option at 7+ million. Bynum is signed for one more year with a team option.

Assuming you would want to move Artest, you could do so for two 3-4 million per players.

Trading Joe is doable, it just comes with some obvious risks.

I think there's a better chance of we getting Pau for JJ strait up considering the age & market value factors.

  3. You have to rebound to run and the duo has shown that they struggle to do that in the playoffs at the 4 and 5. Also, in the playoffs, the game slows down. You can just rely on run and gun. You have to be able to score in the half court and in the post. The front court as it's currently constructed can't get it done.

They are proven good rebounders that happened to struggle in the 2nd round. Part of their struggle is setting for outside shooting, which leaves them in bad positions for offensive rebounds. If they increment their chances of scoring by outrunning their man there will be no need for offensive rebound or at least try to score in the paint to be in better position for offensive rebounds. By doing all this they can draw fouls out of their bigs & keep them out of the game for more time which means less rebounds for the opposing team.

  4. With any of the exceptions if available in the new CBA, any combination of the folowing:

    MLE full

    Butler

    Prince

    MLE splitted

    McGrady

    Battier

    BAE

    Haddadi (super underrated C)

    or

    Mohamed

    or

    Vujacic

    Vet Min

    Kwame

    Childress TPE

    Ben Wallace for a 2nd

    Donte Jones for a 2nd

    Carlos Delfino for a 2nd

Johan Petro with LA's 1rst for nothing.

    Jason Thompson for 2013 1rst

    Rudy Fernandez for 2 2nds

not big deals but a bit realistic.

  5. The only way to get rid of JJ's contract is by taking back another bad contract or multiple bad contracts..... Not going to help that much. Marvin's contract can be dumped if the price we ask for is 0. Worst case scenario we offer cash/pick or both to dump him, but is possible. Smoove can give you 2 to 3 descent role players. No quality center will be available for MLE. I'll split it up on guys like Battier & McGrady. Then use Childress TPE & a 2nd round pick for an experienced role player. That's the most realistic plan I can come up with. Ahh, don't resign jamal.

  6. Otis should be fired. When I heard they were taking Hedo's contract I thought, "OMG, they're getting Nash for sure, no way they take Hedo without Nash". But......wow, just wow. They took Hedo's contract, added one of the most coveted players on the market in Gortat & on top of that give up 3 mill & a 1rst for Richardson & Clark........Otis is as smart as a goldfish. Not to mention Pietrus defense & Vince ability to create his own shot gone too.
