No disrespect but all these conspiracy theories about Cavs' cap space are a little embarrassing.

He had 5 blocks last night, not too bad. We already have Tiago. Edy will play Elton Brand minutes, at least this season. Everybody should relax a little bit.
-
What I see happening is we will start the season with a "committee" approach at the SF position where Thabo, Bazemore, Korver, Scott and Millsap will all get minutes. Actually it is kind of exciting. Depending on the situation we can play with big lineups (Millsap or Scott at SF) or we can go small (Korver or Bazemore at SF). If this system doesn't work then we will probably look for a mid-season trade like Cavs did last season.

Looking at some of the contracts this summer, this is actually pretty decent.

One guy I had my eyes on was Chase Budinger. Apparently he is now traded to Pacers (for pretty much nothing).

Lowlight of the season...

That is much cheaper than I expected. In this case we should still have our 2.8 mil exception, hmm...

Wondering how many WTF's we're going to have to sit through if Thabo isn't healthy at the beginning of the season and Bazemore is the starter. 5th wing? Hah!
I can totally see Bazemore starting next year.
-
Honestly tho, the lineup more like this:
C Horford - Splitter - Muscala - Tavares
PF Millsap - Scott
SF Thabo - Holiday
SG Korver - Th Jr - Bazemore
PG Teague - Schoeder - Mack
Based on what we saw in the playoffs, I think Muscala is ahead of Scott in the depth chart. I also don't see how Holiday is ahead of Bazemore. Neither of them are ideal SFs but with a year of experience with the system, Bazemore should get the PT. Heck, he may even start at SF next year!
-
This is the depth chart that I can see so far:
C Horford - Splitter - Tavares
PF Millsap - Muscala - Scott
SF Thabo - Bazemore
SG Korver - Th Jr - Holiday
PG Teague - Schoeder - Mack
We should still have 1 spot open, hopefully for a SF.

I really like the improvements that we have done in terms of depth. As for the SF situation, I am still quite pessimistic but at this point I just trust (hope) that Bud knows what he is doing.

It is unacceptable for NBA that teams make roster decisions with a "capped" budget without even knowing what the salary cap is exactly.
-
I think it's more likely he envisions Baze stepping into the starting SF slot. I believe the franchise has big expectations for him and they're going to give him every opportunity to grow.
I can see that happening but I would be more comfortable if Bazemore had the size of a prototypical SF. We already play with an undersized C-PF...

Mark Cuban has also wasted the last 4 years trying to hit a homerun in free agency. The thing is it is very rare for a guy like Durant to change teams in free agency and when that happens we will be one of the 29 teams trying to get him. To put things into perspective, after almost 20 years of excellence and 5 championships, Spurs landed a superstar for the first time this summer. I wouldn't get my hopes high...
-
What I don't like is Th Jr and Holiday will eat a lot of Bazemore's minutes. I was hoping that with increasing PT, he would take the next step. Maybe Bud feels like Bazemore will be gone next summer (early Bird rights).

Another 6' 6" shooting guard. Sigh...

I hope he doesn't get the Joe or Josh treatment in Philips when he returns.

Thanks for consolidating the threads about the trainers, it was getting really confusing

I wouldn't trade a 1st for an expiring Chandler. I would however consider trading our extra 2nd rounders.

I hope Lakers keep him, I want to see how Kobe, Swaggy P and Lou Williams will play together.

He's purely a backup at this time in any system. Not sure Atlanta wants to go in that direction. He not really a fit. That would be Richard Jefferson. You want a potential starting SF or a developmental SF instead of an Elton Brand type at a need position.
Jefferson will sign with the Mavericks.
-
The problem is nobody knows. We have to wait 3 more days. Moreover, nobody wants to say it, but Daye and Muscala are immediately on the line because they have NG contracts. So if the cap is the lower figure, the fix will be losing one or both of them... before trading Mack or Scott. To trade Mack or Scott, you have to find partners. However, Muscala or Daye or both may be included in the Spurs trade.
I don't care for Daye but losing Muscala would be stupid. If we need cap space, trade one of our extra 2nd rounders with Mack. Dallas for instance could use a guard.

How about Tayshaun Prince? He is certainly not starter material anymore but he could provide some depth behind Thabo.

Wilson Chandler should be our #1 option at small forward

If we can't get one Denver wing, may be we should go for the other. If Gallo is available, he could be a good fit here.
