I guess I need to look into the older history of the franchise. Apparently the St. Louis Hawks selected Bill Russell 2nd overall in the 1956 draft then traded him on draft night for 6 time all-star Celtics center Ed Macauley. Macauley was from St. Louis and wanted to be closer to his sick son that lived in the St. Louis area. Which is cool with me ya know but we basically help make the Celtics the beloved and successful franchise they are today. Bill Russell gave us fits in those days when the Hawks played them in the Finals like 4 times in that era. The Celtics drafted 3 future Hall of Famers: Russell, K.C. Jones and Heinsohn. In fact the "Russell Draft Day Trade" became one of the most historic trades in North American sports. You can really learn a lot on Wiki lol. The Hawks have a long history of making stupid decisions on draft night. It seems we help others more than ourselves most of the time.
