  1. I'm hoping Dennis the Menace shows enough by the deadline we will trade Teague for a first and give Dennis the starting job. Kid has looked like the first elite point guard talent I can ever remember the Hawks drafting in my lifetime.

Like someone already said, i believe it is to early yet to use him as first option. And i wouldn't trade teague, when i am a hawk GM - i believe it Dennis turns out to be good enough to run the show Teague has no problem to play the 2 spot like in College. But this would be intresting for me especially at the begin of the season(cause of Lou). And maybe in the PO when you want to play with a smaller rotation. If Schröder and Jenkins develope well, then you can think of trading teague or Williams for a 3 or a 5
  2. I'm not too surprised. Brand is probably a better back up 5 than 4 right now and since Antić is a 4-5 compared to Ayón's 5. This makes sense.I'm gonna be surprised to see Carroll actually starting despite the "1st Unit" designation here. I still think we'll see Jenkins get some run at 2 and Korver at 3 as camp moves along.

But Brand can play also the four, imho it is even his better position. Even when i expect Brand to get plenty of minutes as 4 and 5 this season - making it mostly a three big men rotation.

  3. I am surprised to see Antić in the LineUp of the second team, i would have espected Ayón there. The first team, looks like the strongest possible lineup right now, even when i don't expect that we see this lineup often since we need Korver to play SF too. This should be James Johnson.

  4. Sorry, I respect him and players in his era but his era was not full of athletic monsters who played above the rim + the guy was 6'9 205 pounds. Think about how that would work today No u can't make an argument for him being the GOAT

Imho the Goat should be viewn in comparision to his competion, not on the game you would have when you invent a time maschine and let all of them play against each other in the prime. For me it is relevant that they pushed the Limit during the time they was active. But even when he was in All "All NBA teams" he wouldn't be in my closer consideration for GOAT, i believe at least in his late years Russel and Wilt was active who are for me GOAT candidates and one level above Petit. But he is definately one of the all time greats, and i would rate him higher then wilikins and Pistol Pete who are maybe the biggest names amoung hawks players. What i read about Maravich i think it is ok to say that he was overated, since his playing style was full of highlights but not always what you call efficient - but i believe if they implemented the 3 point line 10 years earlier he would have deserved the biggest contract of the NBA.
  5. Some interview I just read claimed Dennis gained 8#s. That's a good start.

i think thats quite a lot when the target is strength and not mass alone(sry dennis i hope you don't get those cheeseburgers)

Thats a lot for info :)

  6. In an Interview to a german news Portal Coach Budinger or an assistance said that they wanted dennis to stay because they wanted him to bulk up 5kg ( i believe thats 11lbs), which i think was pretty amtious but maybe Possible cause of Dennis low bodyfat.

How much do you think he progressed in that direction, i really have trouble to see such things.

  7. I am sorry but we went into the offseason with trade assets and cap space. I can not buy that we could not have moved up to get a more ready C,SF, or SG than Bebe. Shabazz fell to within a couple of spots of us and he will be a good pro. He was #14, Bebe was #16. I am sorry but I think you could have worked something out to get him. People forget that Boston actually selected Bebe. We got him via Dallas for our lower pick. Utah selected Shabazz then traded him to the Wolves. My point is there were teams moving around to get stuff they wanted. Ferry got what he wanted I just don't agree that getting a backup PG and backup C were the best that we could have done.

Karasev would be good, but i pretty sure you will be happy not to see Shabazz in your Jersey ;)

And about Karasev i am not so sure if he would fit into the team, cause with korver you already have a shooting specialist.

And i doubt trading up for getting a backup SF instead of a backup PG(with upside) and a C who brings many tools on the table would be a good idea.

  8. I imagine this is why lawyers always say decline to take the breath test. Why give the police evidence they wouldn't otherwise have to build a case against you?

since you quoted me on german right, making the breath test is making things easier for you and don't make evidence on you. If the police ask you for a breath test and you decline, they get an blood test for you. If you pass the breath test, you can continue driving if you fail it they get an blood test for you which give exact results.

  9. weird that this happens without a bloodtest, in germany you can refuse the breath test but if you do so you will get a blood test pretty soon. if the breath test positiv you also need to make a bloodtest, without testing the blood you can not get charged in germany(no proofe no case).

When he make the test 6 hours later, it is pretty useless a healthy male can reduce his alcohol level alot in this time.

  10. That's hilarious that we even trail the bucks. As far as improvement though we were pretty damn good last year so to say we'll improve a lot i don't think so. I think we'll be a better team but probably similar record. Hopefully better in the playoffs.

I'd say Rockets and the Pistons will be pretty improved despite my misgivings about pistons long term.

i think the current hawks team, is as good as the last hawks team so i don't see them at top list of improved rosters.

Also Milsap don't have the lobby of Smith, so that his loss will be considered as a loss in quality for many fans.

On the other hand the bucks had a lot of injurys last season, so they should improve when they have a normal injury history this season.

  11. No Jamison played both SF and PF during his prime with the wizards. I'm pretty sure!

but he isn't in his prime anymore, and you loose mobility while aging. I would say, playing the 4 is easier for him now since he still can read a defense, is a big body and can work with positioning in the post. While he should get trouble with penetrating 3s.
  12. Drops between 18-20 points, 6-8 assist, on similar FG% of this past year?Do we still trade him once Dennis is ready to start?ORIs Teague respected and now our future?

isn't it possible that teague plays the 2 again like he did in college, if Schröder is ready to start? Imho he is the best hawk guard right now, with a great contract. I wouldn't want to give him away, but maybe give him more minutes at the 2 if Dennis works out since i am not a fan of the current 2 guards.

  13. Steroids and HGH can't help you shoot, dribble, pitch, hit, or make u a smarter player. Just makes you a bigger one.

if you are in a better physical state, you can dribble and shoot better when you do something exhausting like running the floor up and down and getting pushed while doing it ;)

And for the people who say make it legal, in fact i am believing that the use of it in the NBA is very popular(since many europe players gain lot of weight in short time when moving to the state without getting fat), and the test and punishment are somehow low. But if it is regular, they are pushed to take more and it isnt healthy. I would like to see, if all sports leagues put a bit of the generated money apart for fighting the drug abuse and at least install a system like the olympics or the cyclist with bloodtest and blood storage to test the blood again few years later when the test catch up the drugs.

This protects the health of the athletes like refs ;) And it is a shame that the biggest sports leages have really poor testing(also the soccer leagues in europe are crap in that regard)

  14. I believe best fit from Europe for an NBA team is Milos Teodosic.

Check him, has something of Ricky Rubio.

I doubt it, Teodosic is a great PG but i think on this position FIBA and NBA Basketball require different Skillset. In the NBA you need to create much more for yourself, or play 2 man plays while in europe it is more about organisating the team.

Schröder for example, is a player i always said that he fits much better to the NBA style of play then to the FIBA style. For FIBA i think even germany have 1-2 better suited PGs Posted Image

Jasekevicius my favorite FIBA PG, on the other hand didn't make the transition from FIBA to NBA. Calderon is also on of the best in international competion, and i think he is stronger there then parker for example on NBA rules he is a solid starter nothing more and parker is one of best.

And for me McCalleb style as a score first guard, with a very good eye for his team mates is a much better fit for the NBA then Teodesic(who would be also in the NBA a better defender but i doubt that he can use his strengths in offense).

  15. I wouldn't expect to much from him, he is a physical strong PF(not a C) with a good entertaining factor. I think his style of play fits better to FIBA ball, where he isn't that dominant beside an very impressive 2011 Eurobasket. Talking about this tournament, i don't understand why no NBA team take a look at Bo McCalleb, even when he is small i think his skillset is better suited for the NBA then FIBA ball and even here he is really really impressive.

  16. I votet for shredder, since when your reporters pronounce him it often sounds like that and not like the german Schröder Posted Image

I just heard someone call him him Euro Hawk in a german discussion board, which is a military scouting drohne who germans and a us enterprise developed but failed to check is it can fly by law Posted Image

  17. what kind of competition did he play against last year: ie in the summer league

in german league the team are composed of 6 national player and 6 foreign players. Usually the foreign players have the most responsibility(the six germans get in average 30% of the playing time), the foreign players are mostly second tier college stars with some extra years pro experience and developing.

In europe game you ask for a bit different skillset then for the usual US ball, you have less space then in the nba to penetrate so that you play a much more systematic ball and favors player with good fundamentals more then the athletics in comparision to the US leagues.

  18. You know, the Nike Hoop Summit game is what pt put Dennis on the map to NBA scouts. In this game, Dennis pretty much dictated the pace and flow of the game against players who are considered to be potential top 10 picks in the 2014 draft -- the supposed greatest draft in the history of the NBA if you listen to the supporters of tanking. Dennis had a decision to make after the Hoop Summit game. He could either leave his name in the draft, or he could pull it out and spend another year or two overseas developing his game. Prior to that game, I think scouts knew of him, but they didn't pay as much attention to him as they did when they saw him run circles around the likes of Andrew Harrison. I made this statement over at Peachtree Hoops, but had Dennis pulled his name out of this draft, it is very possible that with a full year of scouts following him at every step, he would have been a top 10 prospect for the 2014 draft. A top 10 prospect in the perceived greatest thing since sliced bread draft that we should tank for. A top 10 prospect that we got with the 17th overall pick in 2013 because he is a player that "snuck up" on scouts.

I won't say that this game give dennis the attention of the scouts, nearly everytime he played in germany(at least after 10-15 games of the last season) there was 1-4 scouts in the croud mostly to watch him, and one time even the gm from houston. The summit, brought him the attention of the media.
  19. DS gets some attention from ESPN, first in the grades for his game:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/61587/the-strip-day-6

Dennis Schröder, Hawks: 16 PTS | 5 AST | 3 STLSchroder recovered from a first quarter in which he posted three turnovers to turn in the afternoon's best performance. At the end of regulation, he shook McCollum out of his shoes so badly to free John Jenkins for a jump shot that the gasps were audible in the arena. With every game, Schröder is building a reputation as a player with a game beyond his years. B+

And also a chapter in the daily dimes for his summerleague games so far:

  20. I has to confess i am here on this board because of Schröder, and would be excited and happy when he gets the chanche to start.

BUT i like Teague game, and i think he is much better then DS at the moment so i don't think it would be start to bench him for Schröder. I can imagine maybe some games where Schröder and Teague play together, with teague acting like a creative SG since after Teague the Hawks Guards ain't the best.
