They lost this game in the late 3rd and early 4th. This team has really bad perimeter defense.

    That's all.

That's a problem all season. But why is it? Is it because there is less help defense from Dwight than from Al and players don't close out on the perimeter because of that?

  2. Why wasn't Dennis on the floor that last play, especially after making the big shot before? So with Tim there was only one player on the floor who was able to (barely) get rid of his defender on the inbound. That limits possibilities that much. And what brings another shooter in Dunleavy when Tim isn't able to make a pass with everybody collapsing on him? This last play call was awful.
So Bud joined the collective efforts to lose this game...

Pretty spot-on assessment, honestly.  Not sure the whole '2nd place is the 1st loser' mentality is a good thing or not but that's a discussion for another day.

Also, am I wrong if I mentally read everything you post in a bad 80's-era Russian accent (even though you're allegedly German)?

Whatever pleases you. It's inaccurate like your accent-imagination but since it fits your thought you can imagine me to look like this

    cyka blyat
(no offense just to make your imagination complete)

Edit: And actually I lived in the sovjet controlled part of Germany the first years of my life

Well its the problem about the american sports system then. They could make a championsleague they could do relegations, but since money is everything they wont do it. Way easier to call all their winners world champions anyways:D.

My team got relegated last season and if we dont climb up again this year, we might be stuck there for a long time. But i wouldnt cry about it. In the end of the day its just sports.

My team plays in 3rd devision since some years..

I know that this isnt bundesliga, but is everything bad if you lose a final? Of course you prefer winning but you should still acknowledge the great season.

The difference is, there are lots of things to compete for in european sports.

    Example Bundesliga:

    1st - Championship
2nd-3th - Qualification for Champions League
4th - Opportunitiy to qualify for CL
5th-6th - Qualification for Euro League
7th-15th - fight for 6th place or fight to avoid relegation
16th - still a chance to avoid relegation
17th-18th loosers, say goodby to first class competion (and TV money as well)

And since relegation can ruin clubs forever, there is a lot to fight and cheer for in "Abstiegskampf" fight (against) relegation

In America it's only Champ, Playoffs and maybe Draftpick.

It seems for Americans the 2nd is the first loser - and this fits due to playoff system, 2nd lost the big game. While climbing to 4th place in the Bundesliga on the last game is happy as shit because you achieved something in the last game. If you lose the Super Bowl you are just the loser of one of the biggest sports events on this planet.

  6. But nevertheless they eventually lost this game when they fell back from field goal distance on their drive with 4:40 to go and had to punt. Afterwards you always know better, but they would have won the game if they kicked for a field goal on their 1st or 2nd try. Seems insane to kick on 1st or 2nd down, but wouldn't this have been the correct choice? Ensure it to becomes a two score game again?

Edit: they could have used downs 1 to 3 to run the clock down further before kicking...

I think sudden death in football is asinine.... a game is decided by a coin flip ... horrible rule ... nothing to do with Falcons losing ... just saying that is a horrible rule

Sudden death is really stupid in a game where a posession means that much.
Sudden death is only useful for sports where possession changes often (so not football) and the chance for an instand score is low (so not basketball, handball, volleyball... ans somehow baseball too) that only leaves hockey and soccer (but not accepted in Europe) as suitable sudden death sports.

The main problem is, that Americans seem to dislike the concept of a draw. It's all about winning. To avoid overtime execesses in regular season there is that stupid sudden death rule.

Just let them draw in football without overtime in regular season and then give them complete 15min for overtime in playoff games.

Getting Rondo was a huge mistake. They should have targeted a decent ball handler/3pt shooter type at PG since you already have two guys that like to dominate the ball.  They should have gotten a Patrick Beverly type of player.

Delly would have been a good choise.

Minny is only 2.5 games out of 8th in the west. If they can get that 8th slot, we are looking at the 15th pick in the 2017 draft. It is 2017 and not 2018 pick we own right? @JayBirdHawk

    NOPE, source here

    Quote

2018 first round draft pick from Minnesota
Minnesota's 1st round pick to Atlanta protected for selections in 1-14 in 2018, 1-14 in 2019 and 1-14 in 2020; if Minnesota has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Atlanta by 2020, then Minnesota will instead convey its 2020 2nd round pick and 2021 2nd round pick to Atlanta [Atlanta-Minnesota, 2/10/2015]

But it seems we own Nets 2017 2nd round pick which may be only one pick worse than the one we'll get from the cavs in 2019.... How I hate the fact that Boston can swap 1st rounders with the nets this time...

This year has been weird. I assume most start at the beginning of the season. At this point, look into future picks like 2018. Nobody is going to give up a good 2017 pick. 2018 Draft is good. The vets can get an early summer vacation and management get a head start on 2017-18 season plans.

I didn't mean when in the season a team shoult Start to tank. I meant it's insane if a team placed 4th starts to tank. So only 6 teams even trying to compete?

Porzingis belongs in the rookie-sophomore game. ASG, maybe next year, but not this year at Paul'sexpense. Teams under .500 shouldn't have anyone selected by the coach, IMO.

And teams from ATL should have 3 All Stars at least
