  1. I thought the national tv schedule is done prior to a season. I think it is less hate towards the hawks but more of biting your own tail. Be honest who of you wouldnt have signed a paper, that would give the hawks the 4th spot in the east prior to this season? And if you look at it as objective as you can, high flying spectacular basketball looks different than the hawks basketball and i think the latter won´t get you the same tv ratings.

  2. Talk about adding fuel to the fire... Imagine it was a situation like in the 90`s with Croatia and Yuguslavia... The player wouldn't have played and the announcer would get killed... well at least we can learn that NY might not be able to host big events:D

  3. Well if your body allows you to do so, almost every player will play for "his" country. The german league is not as strong as many other europeans, so we need our guys from other countries in order to qualify for the olympics. Dirk did it a lot, but its troublesome, since the german team can't pay the insurance fee and the american gm's just say they dont want their players to risk their health. But this will have to change, or the americans might loose lots of international talent sooner or later. I recall Dirk had to pay for his own insurance fee (200.000$) once. But I guess his character is flawless anyways. The Hawks have to let Dennis play for germany in order to make themselfes popular over here and to keep Dennis happy. If germany won't have a single good tournament in the next 20 years basketball would be dead here. Most kids would pick up other sports. It's as simple as that.

  4. This has to be the dumbest thing I have heard today:

This kid is delusional. We are better on defense when he is not playing http://www.82games.com/1314/13ATL2.HTM#onoff. He has the lowest defensive win shares per minute on the team. The earball test shows you that the only player Elton yells at more on defense is Mike Scott. The eyeball test shows Schröder not helping on defense and frequently lagging his man.

Someone please slap him. I am not here saying Schröder sucks, I am here saying Schröder has an inflated sense of how good he is relative to his teammates.

how is he delusional if that is what he is being told? Looks to me they tell him to play harder defense, so he will get minutes. Nothing weird imo.

  5. I doubt you can ever make Kevin Love stay with the hawks even if he would get traded here. That guy played in a small market town for so long now, and he is appearently dreaming of the lakers. No offense, but I believe for many players its something special to wear a Lakers uniform. Even if it means that there will be less success initially. I just read an article (please don't bash me) on a german nba page about tim ohlbrecht playing pretty good again in the d-league. From what i heard it's quite intresting that that dude, rather plays for small money in america then for big bucks in europe. He seems to really want it and maybe he should get a shot somewhere. Sorry if this completly stupid, but maybe i just fell for some german propaganda. Maybe he would also be a good tutor to dennis schröder, fellow german, good work ethic and problably awesome mindset.

  6. Those countries don't care about Basketball like that. Pero is the only one from a country where they care about Basketball.

Your definitly right about that, but if someone is successfull they will get recognized. If i recall correctly Formula 1 was considered boring until Michael Schumacher entered the scene. All of a sudden it was the next best thing behind soccer in germany. Same with bicycle riding and Lars Ulrich. After he won the tour de France, everyone cared about that sport and a huge amount of money was generated. I can't speak for Brazil, but if someone manages to succeed some in the NBA he will get a huge marketvalue in germany for sure. I mean there is this german dude playing American football for indianapolis colts. Hmmm i think American football is a pussysport (sorry, but i play rugby) but somehow i know that the team from Indianapolis is called Colts. I can describe the logo and the jersey, although i don't respect the sport. Thats thanks to media hyping the case that a german is on the team, even though i don't know if he plays at all. Or just use boxing the Klitschko bros are boring as f*** but they generate so much money in europe (especially germany) that they dont need the american market to generate a fortune.

And now the big plus for developing schröder: Germany already knows about basketball. So there is already a fanbase and when Dirk retires, it will mostlikely all concentrate on Dennis. 3rd largest economy in the world concentrating on 1 guy of a whole sport? That is a huge opurtunity.

1 more example. Maybe you guys know Bayern Munich. The problably economicly best sportsclub in the world. They bought some tier 3 iranian players and generated more money in a fan shop in teheran then in all the rest of europe except for germany combined. Its a bussiness afterall.

  7. well if the hawks keep signing international players, they will get more money from merchandise oversees. Thats a common thing among german soccer teams. They sign talents from places like south korea and make huge money from merchandises. I believe teams like San Antonio sell more jerseys in france then many more spectacular teams. Just as the Mavs sell more jerseys in germany than the lakers. If a guy like Schröder develops that could be some money in the bank from merchandise/sponsoring aswell. Remember Germany has a huge economy and loves sponsoring sport teams (Adidas, Puma, Mercedes or Volkswagen) Especially Volkswagen is very big in Schröders hometown so they will look closely at how he develops.

  8. Hi again,

I really wonder what everyone expects from a 19year old guy, that moved from another continent to atlanta. I mean seriously don't you think he is challenged enormously off the court? I remember when i spent a year in south carolina, the first couple of months i needed around 4 hours more sleep since everything was so exhausting. I mean listening to english all the time when you are used to something else really fatigues you, bc you have to listen closesly ALL the time. Even worse when people speak slang. I played basketball in HS in the US and i couldnt understand black people the first few months, since they weren't using any grammar in my opinion. So i think everyone needs to calm down a lot more and give him some time. How long did it take for dirk to be appreciated? And Dirk was a way bigger talent. So give him time and hope the best and don't judge him already. Maybe he doesn't even like Atlanta and is homesick. Ever thought about that kind of stuff? Matter of fact he is a 19 year old kid far away from home that everyone recognizes and isn't used to that kind of attention.

    Hope i didn't offend anyone.
