It is worth the risk to try to me. The only other logical solution if that doesn't work is trade Trae to SA for our picks plus some of theirs and start the rebuild over again.
Remember when the Knicks had dreams of Zion, bron, kd, and Kyrie?

You can't because other GMs aren't that desperate. They will only go for a pick that far out if they can't find something useful within a much shorter timeframe. For the same reason that we would never be able to trade the Lakers 2029 pick for a stud foundational player, our own picks would not fetch that kind of return either. (I will say that our own picks should be more valuable than the Lakers pick. There is no way we are signing LeBron or Shaq or someone as a FA. The Lakers may very well do that again.)
My thoughts exactly. Just trying to highlight how pathetic that would be for us

Matter of fact, if the Lakers 2029 pick can land Murray, let's do a thought experiment.
We would be never give away our future picks but theoretically, what level of talent could we get for every 1st rounder we have left until say 2030? Pick swaps included of course.
Could we assemble a vet team win now roster with all that "potential"?

Trade every pick between now and 2030 to build a roster around Trae. Lets cash in on the potential of what those picks can become.
Either way we won't be contending until the next decade with the Lakers '29 pick
-
Pathetic ass franchise. This could set us back a decade.

I'm going to have to leave with Trae unfortunately. Nobody has put this team on his back and prepped the city as hard. Not even Dominique took us as far as he did in the playoffs.
I been with the squad since I was born in 88 mid playoffs vs the Celtics.
You gotta see this thing out with quin and Trae. He is playing his best with him, now it's up to the ones who get paid to build teams, to build a team around this young man.

Every year I predict 60 wins or more. Every year. I am always if everything works, this is what I expect to happen. What matters is what I say anytime other than that. Especially after the first 10 games.
So nobody should listen to you until 10 games into the season

Sorry for the quote, won't let me delete on mobile.
I just gotta say, we have failed Trae. You don't right that wrong by trading him.
He wants to win. He likes quin. We have to make it right or we will be tanking for a while with no picks and no chance at a superstar of his level.
We should move some pieces and see what we got before we entertain that idea

I don’t have a restriction but haven’t confirmed what the package is. I expect he’ll be in the big apple very soon.
as for your second point I never got any confirmation on why he signed the extension. I heard a whisper of why he did it (LOL by him by the way) but the forum can talk about that on Tuesday
Nah bruh, tell me it ain't Grimes

JJ is untouchable. You don't trade away a 21 year old that can do those things.

This lineup doesn't have enough shooting.
Murray be having bazemore moments

Booker is so overrated my god

If Matthew's and lundy hit a couple shots, it's a different game. Those were wasted minutes

The lineup creativity after that timeout is interesting. Sub Trae and Jalen for bey and bogi....
Completely different type of lineup and you haven't even deployed onyeka yet

Trae is being as unselfish as he can be

I'm more surprised at Quinn going status quo ever since he has been here ( not changing the offense one bit) and not inspiring these guys than anything else. Like the gif I keep posting, they could've just kept McMillan and saved the dough they giving Quinn. The Hawks have a monster coaching staff too and this is what they are bringing to the table? Yes, its one game but I've seen enough to see that nothing is gonna change. The Hawks will have glimpses of brilliance but overall will be a .500 ball club that sneaks into the play in tournament again.
2023 y'all

Trae is out by February.
3 minutes ago, Bonkers said:Shit, Idk if it's by FEB but like I said if it don't work it's 100% on Trae not on Quinn
And I'll personally strap a rocket to Trae's back and light the fuse to get him outta here if that's the case
You got guys ready to blow it up after 1 game

Defensively, sure. Offensively. This was a farcry from the preseason and this is to @shakes and @Plainview1981 point, we gotta do this when it matters in the regular season and not revert back what we did last year.
I saw JJ shine in John Collins absence. I saw great passing in the first half by everyone.
If Trae and DJ have JUST an average night we run away with this one. If we made more than 5 3s we run away with this game.
Sloppy end to the game but that was our stars trying to show their worth when having an off night. This early in the season I expect old habits to pop up here and there. Good thing is they didn't play like that ALL game.

Why would Trae be the reason we want KAT over Embiid? Because he would have to be traded to get Embiid?
Yes, Morey is not letting us keep Trae if we trade for embiid. Not remotely possible without Trae being included.
Even if philly loses leverage, Morey not trading him to Atlanta for anything less than trae

If it wasn’t for our on court regression the past 2 seasons, I would be a part of the run it back bandwagon.
But after finishing .500 and trading JC, I just don’t see a way we can go in to the season without adding some kind of talent to the roster. Doesn’t even have to mean Siakam or KAT, but there has to be some kind of talent improvement if we are serious about being better next season.
If the argument is that Quinn and our young talent will develop and we will improve as a result, then I point back to the JC trade. No need to make that move if you want to let things to grow organically.
Im okay with clearing space to add and get better, not clearing space just to dodge tax.
Addition by subtraction is a possibility.
If you get better production in those minutes John played, you get a different outcome. We have players capable of that because John set the bar low after last season's performance
