  1. Geez, there's aussies coming out of the woodwork everywhere. Good Stuff. I do hope we see more of Andersen at the Olympics. He'll be a great asset playing the Euro teams. I do hope we get to see him in a Hawks uniform. It'd be great to root for an Aussie playing for the Hawks. I just don't have too much confidence when he is backup center to Bogut. Although Bogut looks pretty good and he could be the real deal. Cheers Rick
  2. Quote: olympic teams don't always work by best-player and david anderson was mvp of his euroleague and led his team to the championship do u australians know why anderson plays backup, not starter? seniority? other reasons? To be honest, I couldn't tell you why Andersen isn't starting. It definitely isn't seniority as Andrew Bogut is only about 19 and is playing his first year for the Australian National Team, yet he is starting. A reason could be that because Bogut is only new to the side, they are trying to give him as much experience playing with the team before the Athens Olympics. I guess we may have to wait till the Olympics to see who is starting. Hopefully we'll all get to see more of David Andersen in action. Cheers Rick
  3. Sorry Guys, I am more than twice as far away. I'm in Sydney, Australia. Frankfurt Germany to Atlanta - 4608 miles Sydney Australia to Atlanta - 9281 miles BTW: I saw two games of the Australia National Squad against New Zealand last week. David Andersen our 2nd rounder from last year is playing. Unfortunately he is backup center and not seeing much playing time. He is backing up Andrew Bogut who has just completed his freshman year at the University of Utah. Cheers Rick

    David Andersen

Just some news from David Andersen our second rounder from last year who I guess we still have the rights to... Andersen an all-star Wednesday, December 17, 2003 - 12:04AM NBL Australian big-man David Andersen has continued to impress in Europe after scoring four points and hauling in nine rebounds for an Italian All-Star team last weekend. Andersen, who played 23 games for the Wollongong Hawks in 1998/99 and is a member of the Australian Boomers squad, earned 16 minutes of court time as his side defeated the Italian national team 106-99. The All-Star players were selected from Italy's premier basketball clubs and acts as pre-Olympic preparation for the Italian team. Andersen is currently signed with Italian side Montepaschi Siena, a qualifier in Europe's top league, the Euro League.
  5. Yep thats right. ESPN reports it was Lons decision. See bottom of this article - http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=221129001 I didn't see the game, but I find it surprising he didn't play condidering we shot only 40% and didn't get many points from the bench. Did Ira and Email play that good to warrant keeping DG on the bench?

    OT Again

Hawks had 5 more turnovers, 9 less offensive boards, but 20 more free-throws. This could be equated to around 24 more field goals attempts for Miami. Thankfully we are shooting well from the free throw line.
  7. "The Aussie Wombats" have joined the league!
  8. Bugger! Missed out. No room for another player?
