  1. This is a telling sign about the Hawks players. How bad do they want it? Apparently not very bad just limping into the playoffs. Your leaders are supposed to step up in these kind of games. Who are the Hawks leaders? Same ole Hawks. This team won't be serious until they bring in s Durant type.   Hard to get excited when you have so much to play for yet choke as usual.

  2. Hawks are laughable vs the Cavs. The Cavs can beat the Hawks in their sleep. Does it really matter who the Hawks play in the playoffs since you must get through the Cavs to have a successful season. When will management realize the Hawks can't go any further with the team they have? I really feel Hawks ownership doesn't care. Just make the playoffs is enough for success. Fans want to go further and win it all. It's just fools gold thinking the hawks will some pull a rabbit out of their hats the way team is assembled.

  3. Hawks will win 50-53 games and get bounced 2nd round. My reasoning is the following.

1.Although the Hawks improve in the low post with Splitter the league will catch up and understand how to defend the Hawks better.

    2. Hawks will try and save themselves for the playoffs and not go all out in the regular season.

3.The lose of Carroll won't be made up by Thabo or whatever combination Bud uses. Thabo is best playing reserve minutes.

4.The other teams will come back stronger from injuries and be hungry to knock off the Hawks. The Hawks will have a bullseye on their backs so teams will try harder to knock them off.

If the Hawks can win more than 53 then they'll have to prove it. Just last year before the Pacers were in the ECF and because of injuries were nowhere to be found a year later. When you expect things to go smoothly sometimes they don't and it makes it that much tougher to repeat. Will see what this team is made of this year since I doubt they win 19 games in a row this year.

  4. Its not just the Jefferson move its the mentality Cleveland has that nothing will be good enough till they win it all. They keep stacking players while the Hawks bring in reclamation projects.True Jefferson isn't what he used to be but he must have something left. See what a superstar does other players want to win with him. I guess Milsap is our superstar but how many players are signing with the Hawks to win a championship?

  5. I don't know about that being a gimp and not adding anything to the team. I bet the same was said when JR Smith and Schumpert were going to the Cavs no one though much of it and they burned our #$#$ ss. They didn't do alot vs Golden State but they still helped them get there to the finals. Let see the Hawks did add Splitter but other than him who as championship experience on the Hawks? Vet players can help the unexperienced players simmer down during the pressure of the playoffs.

  6. I don't see Durant going to the Hawks as much as I would like it. Washington will sign him or he'll go back to Okl. Davis don't see that happening either since he signed his big deal. He can opt out but that s a few years away I believe. Have to hope New Olreans loses alot and Davis will want out.Beal I doubt leaves Washington.  Would be nice to have but another pipe dream.

  7. This year's team will not have the luxury of a 19-0 month or catching people asleep. We also don't presently have a starting SF. Our team is weaker than last year's while the East has gotten harder. And just to add, the Cavs are a definite tier above where we are if we are talking about winning titles.

    Agree with this post 100%.

  8. I don't give a rat's ass about Cleveland. The question is,  were we injured, or weren't we? It's a simple question.

The answer is: we were injured.

The conclusion that follows is that we don't know what kind of team we might have had if healthy, because we were injured!

The other team has absolutely zero effect on that. Nothing else has any effect on that one simple question. It's a simple binary scenario that only has 2 options. All the other injection of other variables is merely hand-waving in order to distract from that simple fact.

The conclusion that follows from the above conclusion is, you can't definitively say that we couldn't have won the championship if we were healthy, because that is obviously something unknowable, because we weren't healthy! Pretending to "know" otherwise is intellectually dishonest.

The Hawks had injuries so...NEXT MAN UP..unfortunately the Hawks didn't have the depth like some other teams.

  9. The Hawks are in the early stages of the Bud regime and it does feel alot better being optimistic towards the future winning 60 games last year. The biggest worry is will the Hawks become another Utah or Atlanta Braves team where you have excellent regualr seasons but can't get over the hump in the playoffs due to not enough quality players. For arguments sake lets say the Hawks win 55-60 games a year for the next 5 years yet get bounced out in every round not makeing it to the NBA finals will the regime be a sucess?

  10. No. You can't simply say a team has proven to win championships when they were healthy,  and then turn around and make an apples to oranges comparison to us when we weren't healthy our one chance at it. The point is that you, nor anyone else, knows what this team would have been able to accomplish if we had been healthy. The point was that health plays a huge part in winning in the playoffs, even for a team with "proven players" such as the Spurs. You can't say our players aren't proven or lacking, when they haven't even had a healthy chance at it.

It was also to point out how silly it was to think teams adjusted to our style of play when they haven't adjusted to the Spurs style of play. Injuries are what held them back last year, just like us.

And now that DMC has moved on, unfortunately we'll never know how far that team could have really gone. But, oh well.

This is why I say lets see what the Hawks due at full strength. If they go deep in the playoffs then the theory of the team has enough talent is good enough for naysayers however if they fall flat again in the playoffs what will your excuse be?

  11. Greatest rival the Cavs. Right now they look like the cream of the Eastern Conference. Hawks will be fighting it out with the Bulls and Toronto for 2nd best record and the surprise teams should be Miami and Milwaukee.Team I want to beat the most is the Cavs in the playoffs. Regular season means something but the playoffs as we saw is the deciding factor who is better.

  12. The Spurs won the title 2 seasons ago. Last year they had several injuries and flirted with the #8 seed in the playoffs before finally getting some of their people back healthy, but they were still missing some people and did not win the title. Did teams adjust to the Spurs style of play last year? Or were they just not healthy?

Those are rhetorical questions, and I hope you can see where this is going.

For the Spurs it was mainly due to injuries for the simple reason the Spurs have been there done that as far as winning championships. They have proven players unlike the Hawks. You simply can't say that regular season games are the same as post season games. The Hawks found out and now will see this year how they do in the regular season and in the playoffs. I'd rather win 50 games in the regular season but be fully healthy come the playoffs then we can see how good the Hawks are. This was the first taste the Hawks have had going far in the playoffs so will see if they have learned anything or will it be the same Hawks team the previous 7 years who seemed to just want to make the playoffs and get bounced in the 1st round.

  13. Lets see behind Korver  you have Bazemore, Hardaway and now Holiday. Alot of shooting guards so I wonder if a trade is in place to reduce the number. None of them are protype small fowards so I wonder if the Hawks may be packaging one of them.

  14. Still Nowitski is on his last legs so what player in the prime of his career would want to go to Dallas since they really don't have much. Jordan was going to be the man and up his game but with Durant,Horf, Howard they are already fixtures with their teams and all will get the max anyway no matter what team they end up with.
