By the way, Dennis will skip playing for Germany this summer to get better preparation for his 1st season as a starter.

You`re right! I didn`t noticed the last announcement. I think it`s a good decision. Dennis can concentrate on working for the season and our nationalteam should be right without him against these opponents...

    I hope so :D

On a semi-related note, is DMike going to be on ther German Nat'l Team?  Will a Hawk be reppin' us in the 'lympics!?  It'd be a huge deal if so.

    Lastly, inb4thalockmovemerge

Dennis will be on the German National Team, but unfortunately they aren't qualified for the olympics. They will only play some European Qualification Games this summer.

  3. Love the signing of Hump!! Great job by Wilcox.

Hump will give our bench some rebounding and toughness! Now we have 3 guys who really like to bang under the basket (Howard, Hump, Splitter)... last season we got nobody, as Hump was aquiered later and splitter was injured... horford was soft as hell!

And in addition we have Sap, who is also a good rebounder at PF

Germanhawk17 - - Welcome aboard.  Great to have you.  Very good, thoughtful post for #1.

Forgive your bad English?  What bad English?  Your English is better than most of us here.

I am the oldest rat in this barn and am usually optimistic so it is great to have someone else

who will share happy thoughts about our beloved Hawks.

Looking forward to more of your wisdom.

    :applause:

Great to hear that! Thank you!

What a warm welcome by all of you. I am also a optimistic guy and i am looking forward in pure excitment for next season!

Believe in three or four years everyone will give us an A for the three guys we took in this draft. Really expect some minutes pretty soon this season for Prince and Bembry. Glad we have the staff we do because I believe those two will be coached up pretty fast. Hoping so anyway.

I really hope Bud will give Prince some chances at SF. Just like with Patterson at the beginning of last season (who obviously couln't use his chance).

The only thing I worry about with Dennis is the promotion going to his head.  I love his confidence but he has to be careful not to come over as arrogant or self-entitled, which can happen when you're a young gun.  I hope Jack is a good mentor for him.

    Yes thats right.

In Germany many people don't like him because of his attitude. They call him arrogant and selfish.

But i call this confidence and look at all the great ones... jordan, kobe , james etc... not that i would compare dennis to them, but dennis got this kind of attitude.. and even more important to this point of his career he makes it up with his work ethic. he really wants to be great and does everything to be great.

So i think he will be fine..Also as Coach BUD and maybe Jack will help him with that. If dennis overacts in some way, iam sure BUD will take him to task!

At any rate i rather have a little more to confident guy, as a too passive and restrained type of guy.

Yeah, Dennis already has a business in Atlanta at a young age so I'm sure he's confident on staying a Hawk a good while.

Yeah, he started that to get green cards for his family i think, so that they can be with him in Atlanta. Dennis is a very family oriented guy.

  8. @Thomas I hope too, that he will play a looong time in Atl.

He seems to be very comfortable in Atlanta so far. Having a good relationship with Coach Bud, too and getting the trust now as a starting PG.

I think Dirk wohl never leave dallas. I met him twice. He's such a humble and loyal person.

I'm really not worried about Dennis as the starter.

Off the bench he had to come in and either maintain or change the pace and look of a game.  As a starter, he will set the pace and tone of the game from the start, playing alongside better players where he doesn't feel like it's on him to create a spark. In his interview at the SL game he said 'It's my team now' - loved it.  Take ownership.

Yes i am thinking the same.

Dennis always grew with his challenges.  There was a time here in germany i said, that dennis will once be a starter in the german bundesliga (first league in germany) ...At that time there where few people who believed me...

He made it and he was one of the best german players in the league.

Than there was a time i said, that he will get drafted and be the next german player in the nba....At that time also few people believed that..

    You know what happenend...

And some time ago i said, dennis will be an all star.( which was his goal also.. as he came in the nba he once said, that he wants to be an all star in the next 5 years i think).

And now we will see how dennis will grew again!!

Injuries of course are an issue with Howard. I hope he will be healthy. What i've heard in interviews etc. Howard is at a time in his career where he really wants a redemption. For me it looks like he wants to proove that he can be a superstar at his hometown. I really hope so. But of course i can understand your worries. Especially the free throw worries. Maybe the atlanta shoowing coach can help him a litte. On twitter i also noticed, that he workes on a new shooting routine and maybe it will help...

I also can understand your worries about schröder, but i think in his starter role he really will be looking to involve his teammates first, as he has the security to play 30 minutes or more. He will knew he will have enough opportunities to score, so he can take just what the defense gives him and not overlooking for his own shot just like a bench scorer.

With our rookies i agree.. Maybe prince can contribute directly.. but dont know if bembry can..
