  1. Edit, didn't realize that Bally wasn't also showing the game or that out of towners can't watch.  That's no good.  I'm assuming league pass would still carry the game though?

The whole agreement for this was WITH Bally Sports so that's weird.

"The games were made available for local over-the-air distribution as part of the NBA’s agreement with Diamond Sports Group, the owner of Bally Sports Southeast. Peachtree TV will utilize the Bally Sports Southeast production team and the on-air crew of Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun and courtside reporter Tabitha Turner for this 10-game package of games. On-air talent from Peachtree TV and WANF (Atlanta News First), including Sports Director Baillie Burmaster, will also be featured on telecasts."

Siakam is not normally that poor of a 3 point shooter. Just like Trae wasn't a sub 30% 3 point shooter.

Siakam takes those shots because he knows he can make them.

I'll be so disappointed if we leave Toronto without a trade that acquires him.

Even if it's just for 1 season, I want to see what Trae and the Hawks look like with 3 All-Star caliber talents.

We have no problem scoring.  We have issues on defense.  Does Siakam improve our D?

    These aren't all scrubs fwiw.

    Sochan #9 overall pick 2022

Johnson averaged 22 ppg last year

Wemby #1 overall pick and generational prospect

    Champagne - scrub label fits

Vassell averaged 19 ppg last year and signed a $146M contract

I don't disagree that our defense failed yesterday and was bailed out by Trae.  But let's not overstate that 4 of these 5 guys are just scrubs because they would be welcomed onto the roster of nearly every team in the league.

Your point is valid.  I should have focused on the message of allowing players to shoot better than their averages.  They had 5 guys shooting pretty well above their average while scoring above their average.  Regardless it was a horrendous defensive performance.  Guess I was just ranting a bit. 🙂

  4. Just look at these FG% from all the Spurs yesterday.  These guys are scrubs.  Letting 5 average players go off and shoot above their season average FG% (while scoring more points than their average) is attrocious.

    Sochan 12-14 (45% season avg)

    Johnson 8-15 (47% season avg)

    Wemby 9-16 (43% season avg)

    Champagne 5-8 (39% season avg)

    Vassell 8-14 (50% season avg)

1 scrub going off is an outlier, you let 5 scrubs go off it's a problem.

  5. Opposing teams get a layup or wide open 3 on virtually every possession.  Someone pump fakes and blows by the defender, everyone collapses and they kick for an open 3.  EVERY time.  It's just so simple, pump fake and as soon as someone bites you go by them, then the whole defense dies.  We fall for it every time.

Guys turn their head away from their man when helping and their man relocates and is completely wide open.  It's pitiful.  I just don't see how we don't show them film to fix.  These are very basic fundamentals on defense.  Stop leaving your feet on pump fakes, box out when a shot goes up.

I'm almost to the point where we shouldn't even try to help on defense except for Capela or OO, just stay on your man instead of collapsing to let them kick out to wide open 3's all game.

Being this bad defensively is already horrific, but when they actually do miss we can't rebound.  We have to score 140 to win games and even still might lose.

  6. Definitely don't want to rebuild.  Teams go from middle of the pack to top 4 all the time, many times a team is one or 2 moves away.

Rebuilding is a bad decision IMO.  What if that next young star you draft only ends up as a top 20-25 player?  Then you are middle of the pack again, but it takes 5 years to find out the true ceiling of many of these players.  It's so hard to get a top 5 player it's not worth it.  Now if we were the 2022 Blazers where our stars are in their mid 30s, then yes I would rebuild.

    Welcome to the board @ATLcruisin

    I'll Speak...

Don't know how it would have been in Vick never got in trouble or if Deion got a second contract.  But you are right, Trae is a superstar who manages to bring in the box office and can put the team on his shoulders.

But...  ATL fans are thirsty and fickle.  I have seen them do it... Love a guy and then afterwhile turn on him.   Still, it's hard to say.

It's funny you mention this... I was listening to Da Baby's interview with Unc on club Shay Shay.  One of the things he mentioned was the brilliancy of allowing the hip hop community market the local sports teams.   More specifically, he spoke on how Charlotte ignored him and how he has a strong relationship with Melo but the missed opportunity has Jeopardized his fanship of the team and the team has missed out on bringing in a whole new market.

Well, I think Trae came along and he's been the opposite and inverse.  He's a magnet for the celebrity community because he plays like a superstar when the lights are the brightest.

Our GM's task is to put the correct pieces around Trae to make him a champion in Atlanta.

Imagine... IF Trae Young leads us to our franchises First NBA Title....He'd get a statue too.

He just needs to fix his shot.  If he can get back to his career averages I'll be quiet.  If he was shooting career average we'd probably be 8-4 or better right now.

    Probably about 30 players.

Agreed.  You gotta think most all the young stars on rookie contracts plus most of the players in the top 25.  Guys super old like LeBron I wouldn't trade him for.

It kills me to say it b/c Trae is my favorite player, and i want nothing more than for us to be successful with him but if he can't fix his shot it's never going to work.  The more I think about DJ at the point with another 2-way type 2 guard makes us a much bigger lineup, much better defensively and rebounding.  Think about someone like Jalen Brown and DJM as the starting backcourt.  We will lose some passing for sure though.  Not that I think we'd be willing to pay for that contract but the fit would be incredible.
