Why of course it's great for NASCAR. More hype and Money. Now they can pull the whole Jackie Robinson routine. It's ashame NASCAR is going to be applauded for being 30 years behind most everything else pretty much.

On the other hand, Lester himself seems like a nice guy and he's in his late 30's am I correct? Not every guy reaches the top at that age so it took him a long time to get where he wanted but he obviousally stuck with it.

    Isn't he also from Atlanta?

Im not sure what you mean by the "whole Jackie Robinson routine", but i think your completely wrong. That opinion might work better for you if we were talking about Wendell Scott, though I still would disagree.

As far as applauding NASCAR for being "behind in the times", lets applaud BILL LESTER. I dont think its a secret that very few African Americans like NASCAR, much less want to be a driver.

You are correct that 30 years has been too long. But they are trying to right the ship. And yes, Lester is from GA.

  2. Bill Lester is the first African-American to qualify for a cup series race since the mid 80's. He will be driving the number 23 Waste Management car for Bill Davis Racing. Obviously this is great for NASCAR, and long overdue. Good Luck to him and his crew.

  3. I wouldnt compare him to anyone. Comparisons are for women.

Woman 1: Do you think this blouse looks good with this skirt?

Woman 2: Well, lets compare...The teal one looks good because it brings out your eyes, but the peach one matches your skin tone and skirt better...

tmac: ladies!..ladies!...youve got to wear the red one, just like mcgrady. those colors are soooooo last season.

I don't think he is aggressive at all..Getting to the foul line is an important part of any scorers game..I think comparing him to Carmelo is completely fair..They are both 3's with one year of college..

oh please, thats such a cheap shot.

1992: alonzo mourning, 2nd pick, center, 4 years of school

1993: shawn bradley, 2nd pick, center, 4 years of school

your logic is about as strong as mike tysons vocabulary

  5. how about we allow him to develop as a player before we start crying about a "mean streak". I think he's plenty aggressive. Maybe the fact that he doesnt lower is head and charge into the lane means he is SMART and understands what he can do and cant do. good grief. And lets not compare him to lebron on carmelo. That isnt fair. Being a number 2 pick in the draft doesnt always mean immediate impact, ask darko. Right now I just want him to finish the season healthy, maybe work on a few things, and gain upper body strength because thats what he desperately needs.

  6. [quoteI'm on it! My dad tells me that the FOX commentary crew is much better than what we had for the Daytona 500.

YES!! This is pretty much known by everyone who watches NASCAR.

The NBC crew is AWFUL. Bill Weber is like a robot who looks REALLY creepy. Benny Parsons is OLD.

The FOX crew is awesome. Larry Macdonald is by far my favorite of the group. Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond are good. Fox just does an overall better job of explaining whats going on, interviews, "extras", and they are just more enjoyable to listen to.

I have been reading Hawks board for years amd like Braves fans I am tired of the apathy and apologism..I am going to start a revolution to change the attitude of Atlanta sportsfans. I am going to run you apathetic fans off of the internet. I am going to run apathetic fans out of the stadium. Whenever I see a cat from Alpharetta cheering for the Pistons I am going to run his azz out of the stadium too. I am going to turn Atlanta into Philly south if it kills me.
    hahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. If BK cant make a trade to send Tony to another team, then the Hawks need to buy out his contract so he can sign with another team. Management has absolutely bombed in the PR department with this situation as far as I'm concerned.

Most of the NASCAR tracks are generic and it's pretty much one huge game of follow the leader.

Obviously you are not a watcher, but thats ok. NASCAR would love to have you as a fan.

Tracks are grouped into categories of tri-ovals, ovals, quad oval, and road courses. They range from 1/2 mile tracks such as bristol, to 2.6 mile tracks such as talladega superspeedway.

Also, banking is very different from track to track. If you knew the days and hours these teams worked developing a car to suit the track, you would know they are anything but generic.

Follow the leader? You must be a Gordon fan!!!!

  10. ALRIGHT ZACH!!!!!! Man, I wish more people would actually take the time out to watch NASCAR or even go to a race, before they discredit it and say it sucks. If you have seen it and still dont like it, fair enough. If Tony Stewart hadnt of ran over his jack coming out of the pit, he would have caught up up to Dale Jr and they would have finished 1st and 2nd. Jr just couldnt get anyone to run with him. For those who dont know, Jr and Smoke (stewart) are 'unofficial teammates". Gah I could talk about NASCAR all day!
