  1. Linsanity. 2nd best thing to the NY/LA market......actually China and Taiwan might dominate both markets. Betta hope the Knicks match because it'll be extremely hard for Dwight to walk away from the 25 mil plus the largest burgeoning foreign market then the chance at a second max joining him too...... That is why Houston feels confident. Hometown and friends are nice but business is business.

Like Hollinger tweeted earlier Sunday, whether they let him walk or not, the Knicks come out winners no matter what, as the raging Linsanity of last Jan. and Feb. is what finally impelled Time Warner Cable and the MSG Network to return to the table and hammer out an agreement to FINALLY end the Knicks blackout on TV in the NY market, a result which is of incalculable value to the Knicks, so they'll be making boatloads of future money off the past efforts of Lin no matter whether he stays or goes. Seems almost heartless, but you're right. Business is business.
  2. For me it is easily the '07-'08 squad, the little team that (almost) could. It's hard to vote against a #8 seed putting a serious death scare into the #1, and that's what we did. We had the Celtics scared sh*tless in that first round, and this was after an 8 year Atlanta Hawks playoff drought, by far the longest in franchise history. That was just awesome what that team did there.

  3. I always thought that Marvin could explode with JJ out of town, he would have been forced to take more responsabilities.

You might very well have a point there, but we will never know. Sometimes a change of scenery can be really helpful for a player, so it'll be very interesting to see how he does out there, whether he can finally start to 'get it' or whether he just simply doesn't have any 'it' to give. He seems a good guy, so it would be great to see him become a positive contributor on a regular basis, something which he never really was able to accomplish here. He just seemed to fade into invisibility far too often here.
  4. Supposedly he's very intelligent and a hard worker so maybe he can fill a Matt Bonner / Steve Novak type of role in the NBA. I don't know much about him but everything I've read about his shooting sounds positive.

Well he's an NU guy, so yeah, high intelligence goes without saying. He does have an odd, odd looking shot though. It's got a definite hitch in it and is certainly not pretty, but it absolutely does work for him somehow.
  5. Shurna apparently lit it up in practice the other day too. I could see him coming in and filling a Vlad Rad type of role for us from the PF spot.

If he is to make it in the NBA, his role is going to have to be just that, the highly specialized long range gunner. I watched this kid all throughout his career at Northwestern, and I really enjoyed him as a player and as just a really quality young fella. I'll be rooting for him.
  6. Ferry seems to love his shooters, that's for sure. I saw where we also signed John Shurna to our summer league team. He is so unathletic that I'd be fairly shocked if he ever had more than a cup of coffee with any NBA team, but holy cripes can that kid shoot. Highly unorthodox shooting motion, but the guy's long range jumper is absolutely deadly.

  7. PG: Teague(24min) Harris(10min) Williams(6min) SG:Harris(15min) Williams(17min) Jenkins(10min) SF:Smith(15min) Morrow(20min) Stevensen(5min) PF:Smith(18min) Horford(8min) Johnson(10min)Scott (4min) C:Horford(22min) Pachulia(15 minutes) Petro(4min)

If for no other reason than for defensive purposes, I'd really hope to see DeShawn getting more than 5 minutes per game.
  8. Sure, I'm probably the only Hawk fan in the world that don't want Howard here. There are more than one reason.

Nope GM, you are not the only Hawks fan that doesn't want him here. Personally, I think the guy's a creep, and there's no guarantee that if he did come here he wouldn't start pulling the same divisive crap he's been pulling in Orlando for the last several years.
  9. So the new CBA didn't change a thing. The owners continue to shoot themselves in the foot by overpaying for mediocre players.

Exactly. A CBA can only do so much. It can't change human ambition and/or stupidity. Morey seemed a pretty sharp fella though, but maybe I was giving him too much credit, or maybe this was a move dictated by Rockets ownership.
  10. It's still crazy to me that Daryl Morey gifted Omer Asik with a 3 year $25.1M offer sheet, this for a guy that played 15 minutes per game and averaged 3.1 points and 5.3 boards per game. He's a high energy guy, but jeezum, that is fricken insane. As long as Ferry stays away from those type of contracts for extremely middling players, we should be all set, cause those are the type of deals that can hamstring a team.

  11. The Hawks have two Allstars...so Ferry's first job is to fill out the roster, sign Josh Smith, and look to sign Harden, Ibaka or Even Bynum next year. Btw - and since when is a second year player (teague) averaging 12.6pts 4.9ast in the regular season and raising his point total to 14ppg in the post season suck?

Good points. Whether we sign or trade Josh, the end result of the Joe and Marvin trades is that we are currently set to have tons of payroll flexibility next offseason, and with a 2013 free agency class including players like Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, Steph Curry, Al Jefferson, Andre Igoudala, Manu Ginobili, James Harden, Serge Ibaka, Taj Gibson, Paul Millsap and etc etc etc, we can be a serious player for some of these players.
  12. What a surprise that the CBA adding in more legal jargon and clauses still has multiple problems as well as numerous unintended consequences!!! Who ever could have foreseen this?? Well the only way to correct this is more regulation, so lets pump out some more mice type and get those attorneys back to work!

Yep. It's got holes wide enough to drive a truck through.
  13. I hope this is addressed in the next CBA to give more pay to the franchise players and more control for the teams. I don't think it is healthy for the league. The NBA's popularity would not be what it is today if Jordan, Bird, and Magic had forced their way out of multiple cities with this type of hamfisted PR strategy.

It's setting a dangerous course, that's for sure, one that has already started with what MIA pulled two years ago. There is nothing that will turn off fans more quickly than a widespread sense that things aren't on the up and up, are simply unfair and that a true competitive imbalance exists. At that point fans become seriously disgusted and begin asking themselves "Well why the hell even bother?", because the system's rigged. And at the ticket prices the NBA charges, I could see fans in droves electing not to attend games any longer and suddenly finding better things to do than pour their money into a system that's clearly broken.

  14. It sucks that after all this, Howard is apparently able to manipulate his way to exactly where he wanted to be, with no consequences for his lousy behavior and he and his people working the system to land him where he always wanted to be. Not fair really, but what can ya do. Sorry JJ. I like you, but if this happens, I'm going to have to be rooting harder against the Nets than even the Heat.

  15. If the Nets are going to get Howard for Brook Lopez it creates another powerhouse in the east. The only good that can come of it is maybe they beat the Heat. If that happens I will be very happy for Joe Johnson. That said I cant see Clev getting involved in this without getting serious kick backs from the Russian. Why do the Nets have to move K.H. to Clev anyhow, for a trade exception?

I was under the impression one of the intents of this new CBA was to prevent the formation of 'super-teams' ala the Miami Heat, so if Howard does go to Brooklyn, well I guess this new CBA was just about pointless so far as that goes. Supposedly one of the reasons that Dan Gilbert is even contemplating helping out Brooklyn like that is because he's still so livid at LeBron for leaving that he's willing to do anything in his power to prevent Bron from winning another title, even if that includes helping another franchise form a super-team (which would also be a detriment to his own team). Crazier than hell if true, but I wouldn't put it past Gilbert either, as he's not exactly a paragon of emotional stability.
  16. Gotta love that he feels disrespected!

I like it much better the fact he's humble and realizes all his college accomplishments don't mean a thing in the NBA and that he understands the fact he needs to constantly keep working at his game if he's to succeed. This quote "It's not enough to just be here in the league," he said. "I want to work hard and be an impact player. I know it takes time. Every player that's drafted, they were always the man in college and high school. I want to learn from the guys on the team and go from there. I have no ego. I haven't accomplished anything yet." to me = priceless.
