  1. Efes (27-3 last season) played against Beykoz (9-21 last season) in the first Turkish Cup elimination game, they won 81-60. Top scorers for Efes were Drew Nicholas with 27 points and Andre Hutson with 17 points. Cenk scored 3 points, I don't know how many minutes he played. Efes' next game is today/tomorrow (depending on your timezone) against Karsiyaka (12-18 last season), it's another Turkish Cup game.

Beykoz: Clarence Gilbert 8, Erdal Bibo, Gregory Grays 8, Levant Bilgin 3, Umut Tinay 2, Cem Coskun 16, Umut Görür 2, Chris Burgess 10, Caner Öner 8, Alper Yilmaz 3

Efes: Drew Nicholas 27, Cenk Akyol 3, Kenny Gregory 2, Mustafa Abi 2, Bora Hun Pacun, Kerem Gönlüm 2, Rashad Wright 4, Serkan Erdogan 6, Ermal Kurtoglu 9, Ender Arslan 9, Andre Hutson 17

  2. What?

    14th in points allowed

    21st in total yards allowed

25th in avg. per play allowed

    23rd in % allowed

29th in avg. per pass allowed

    12th in passing yards allowed

22nd in avg. per rush allowed

    23rd in rushing yards allowed

    29th in interceptions

    18th in sacks

    20th in forced fumbles

They were very good in the first game. Good in the second game. One half good, one half bad in the third game. Below average to bad in the fourth game.

  3. I think there are a couple of factors:

    1) Playcalling, we quite often use 4-5 receivers this year, last season it seemed that we had a maximum of 3 on the field. More receivers -> bigger chance that one will be open.

    2) Trust, after our receivers dropped so many easy balls you could see that the criminal had no trust in them to make tough catches. Joey on the other trusts them.

    3) Running game sucks -> more passes -> more chances for receivers.

    4) Horn, the young guys never had a vet (that was actually good) to get advice from (kinda like the Hawks). I'm sure that it was Horn who gave Roddy the tip that he has to hold on to the ball to make a catch. wink.gif

    5) Since Joey can't run, he makes lots of dumpoffs when the other guy would've tried to run.

    6) Joey's throws are softer which seems to be good for Jenkins and White.

Our passing game is looking good again this game, but we need to make some good runs, cause it seems like that our defenses can't stop their passing game either, so it would be helpful if we could run down some clock. 23-16 right now, I'm confident that we'll win if we score this drive.

  4. One thing is for certain with this team, they will find ways to lose.

    good:

    - passing game

    - defense 1st half

    - Roddy White is a different player so far this season

    - only one sack allowed

    - Mort is back and 100%

    - Norwood made some nice plays

    bad:

    - defense 2nd half

    - that snap/hold

    - no turnovers forced

    - 2 fumbles

    - penalties, penalties, penalties

(- playcalling sometimes, like that run on 3rd & 9 in the red zone)

  6. This game was so winnable. frown.gif

The defense was good against a rather weak Jags offense, Abraham played very good.

The offense looked passable in some drives, but still too many sacks. Who was the guy in Roddy White's jersey today?

I hope that kicker will be cut tomorrow or even better today.

Man this game was ugly. Both teams shot below 40% no one except Belinelli was hitting shots. Dirk sucked this game, but Herber and Jagla stepped up, otherwise this would've been Dirk's last national team game. The future doesn't look pretty for team Germany, but it thankfully seems like a new coach will direct the team then. If Belinelli wouldn't have been injured during the game, then Italy would've had a very good chance to win this.

The Falcons offense is in for a looong season.

Didn't the coaches say that they want to give Norwoord a bigger part? Then why let they run him only 5 times, while the struggling Dunn got it 22 times?

I was also kinda shocked that we didn't try to score with 1 minute left in the first half.

6 sacks for the Vikes, but all those "smart" people said, that all the sacks happened only because of Vick.

On the positive side the defense looked ok, they didn't make big plays, but they held the Vikings to ten points and if it wasn't for that lucky Peterson TD it would've been 3, but then again the Vikings passing attack might be worse than ours.

This was a very competitive match at the beginning and Germany could have easily won this game, if they had a good coach. Bauermann is such an idiot, it was 28-28 and then France pulled away to 43-30 and he didn't even think about taking a timeout, Germany never really recovered from that run. Nobody on France can really shoot the lights out, but hey we don't have to zone against them all the time, we'll try to beat them in their own game, cause the win will be much sweeter then, what we didn't win? Well, we tried, nobody can ask for more.

My best friend is from Serbia, I'll ask him later if that is exactly what he said or maybe MW24 can translate.

  13. He's a 6'9/6'10 forward and is over 30 years old. He currently plays for Prokom in Poland (together with Travis Best and Ruben Wolkowyski), in the past he played for Joventut in Spain, Unics in Russia, Partizan, Crvena Zvezda (pretty unsual for a player to have played for Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, they're fierce rivals) and Vojvodina in Serbia. He did make this basket yesterday to send Serbia-Greece into overtime:

    ]

Since he was born in 1975/1976 (I've found both as his birthdate) I doubt that he'll ever play in the NBA and most likely he wouldn't be good enough anyway.

    Profile from the tournament site:

    Quote:

Milan Gurovic is the top shooter in Europe, period, end of story. The Red Star’s best player is coming off the best season of his career. At 207 cm, he is a match-up nightmare who is capable of breaking an opponent’s back with a barrage of three-pointers. It’s exactly what the 32-year-old did all year, earning the ULEB Cup regular season MVP. With 270 points in 10 games, Gurovic posted records for the highest scoring total and average. What's more, no player in either the ULEB Cup or the Euroleague has finished a regular season with a higher scoring average this decade. With the uncertain participation of Stojakovic, Gurovic will probably find himself as one of the principal go-to-guys for the National Team.

I watched that game and Turkey never had a chance. They play like they really don't care, they made 50% of their FTs and especially Okur sucked big time.

Shortly after Akyol came in, he made an offensive foul and then nearly a second one, he looked very nervous, the commentator said that he suffered from burnout and took a one month break before the tournament and now has problems keeping up with the rest of the team.

Türkoglu & Okur don't ride in the teambus, they have their own car and while the others train, they're in the weight room, I never heard something like this, why does the coach allow that? Their team spirit is non-existing.

    Batista can also draw fouls,

When has he displayed his rebounding ability at the NBA level? In fact Solo out rebounded him this year! I don't get it nut.gif

What? Batista 2.3 reb in 6.2 min (career high 12), Jones 2.3 reb in 11.5 min (career high 10).

This whole discussion is kinda useless in my opinion. Batista will not be a Hawk this year and Solo will very likely never be more than a 2nd/3rd backup.
