  1. Im daydreaming over here but if we can come away with Head, Big man at #8 (Shelden, O'bryant, Simmons), and maybe someone in the 2nd round like Davis, Novak who can keep opposing big men honest with range beyond the arc (kinda like collier). Maybe an augustine who can run the floor and block shots and with some offensive skills. Or maybe someone like mardy collins (6'6 pg/sg) will slip and we could take him and play him off the bench will salim in the backcourt.

Im pretty excited guys what do you think?

  2. I'd go for it if that deal was on the table (luther head). Combo guard that could really help us. Not saying hes the savior but to move back 3 slots and get him would be a nice move. We could have some different looks in the backcourt pairing him up with chillz, jj and maybe even salim in some cases. He can shoot, pass and he did make all nba 2nd team rookie team. We could use all the help we can get.

And to pick up some sort of size at 8 whether thats shelden or obryant would be nice as well.

    What do you think KB?

  3. I just wanted to ask yall if Shelden was our guy, how far could atlanta go back to grab him. I'm "ok" with him at 5 (its not sexy) but if we could go to #8 (draft Shelden) and pick up #32 from the rockets would yall like that? And maybe package #32 and #33 to move to the bottom of the 1st and maybe end up with a combo guard in Diaz or Douby? Only reason I say this is because I just dont know what kind of backcourt player if any we would look at at #33. Probably wouldnt be anyone that would start. I mean would we be treading water with someone like D. Brown from Illinois (having someone like lue already)? Lots of questions to be answered...I guess alot depends on Al's situation and free agency in general, if we dont fill that spot with a starter via the draft. Bottom line is shelden would help "if" hes the pick but Im not wanting to see an ivey and lue pg situation again this year.

    Thanks Guys

  4. I just wanted to know what yall thought about the swap. It looks like Atl is gonna give him the 5 year 70 million dollar deal, with the 20 mill in the first. I'm wondering if ATL gave him that deal in the first place, would phoenix have matched. I know if you make this trade you are sure to get the player you want. But to max him out and trade a servicable player and 2 draft picks (lottery protected or not) is alot. I guess they really beleive in joe and didnt want to essentially bring out the same team (with the same holes) this year that they had last year. This is a big risk for Atlanta (money and player/draft pick wise). But sometimes you gotta roll the dice. I Hope everything works out.

  5. I think Sharrod Ford has warranted a spot on the preseason squad. His summer league stats have been better than Marvins, for whatever reason. He was a very good player at Clemson and he would be a nice combo forward, comming off the bench. Like others have said, this team needs all the help they can get. With time hes gonna get stronger, but hes already got some reallly nice skills. Atl worked him out before the draft, he made it to the summer league team, and he has done well when called upon.

  6. Thats what im thinking. I dont really expect the hawks to get any of these guys without using harrington. Might as well figure out a sign and trade and get rid of a wing position player to fill a huge need at center. The possibility of having Dave Anderson play next year is nice. Could always use the extra body to log some backup minutes, at the least.

  7. I see. And your right about he wasn't a hot commodity. At the same time, the man was doin so well(even i could see that from my living room) and I think the hawks should have had the mindframe of high risk/high reward. And sure its easy to say that now that hes doin well in the league. I think bottom line is if you like what you see, you have to find a way to acquire it. So yeah Haslem didnt give them a chance to match, but at the same time he was in Hawks camp for a adequite amount of time for them to work SOMETHING out. I just dont want to see that happen again. Thanks for posting Jay and we missed your coverage during Hawks draft workouts.

  8. I dont know about you guys but im excited about this years Summer League Team. I think the sleeper is Sharrod Ford. That guy did so well in the ACC for years, on a bad team. I think if Atlanta gives him a fair shot, he will make the team. I just hope the Hawks don't screw up (if he does well), like they did with Haslem a few years ago. Randolph Morris's play is gonna be interesting to watch. I think hes one piece at the Center position and hopefully we can add the other through free agency. Do you guys think there is enough room on this team for both Royal and Rashad? I wouldnt be suprised if 3-4 players(that are not already on the regular season roster) make the regular season hawks squad.

  9. I read that he played pg in high school(yet he doesnt have very good handles), and SF in college. Maybe its the BK theory where he thinks he doesnt have to have a legitimate pg to take the ball up the court. lol we will see what happends.

  10. I agree with the Marvin and Jack combo. Someone mentioned that woodson spoke very highly of him recently. And remember the rumors a few weeks ago that the hawks were trying to move to seattles pick to take Jack via their second round pick and diaw. I think the intrest is definately there. I think the hawks should do what they gotta do to get him in here. I dont feel hes that far behind the pgs ranked ahead of him(if at all).

I see they had will bynum in and someone said they had elder in also(local guys). I'm glad to see the hawks are giving a shot to the local talent.

  11. According to realgm.com, Its unlikely that the grizzlies will get rid of Wells or J Williams before the draft. However a "source" did say they are more likely to package one of the 2 with Stromile Swift in a sign in a trade. If the hawks draft marvin....does that open the door for a harrington for swift and williams type of deal? Could J Williams start here and groom our potential pg drafte?

Could the starting lineup look something like this next year?

    J Williams

    J Childress

    J Smith

    M Williams

    S Swift

  12. falc I beleive thats correct(according to someone who saw it on the news.) I'm sure they know everything about Jack and then some. I just hope the hawks are fortunate enough to grab a quality pg. It helps that Luther Head's stock is goin way up(projected to go in the teens according to draftexpress latest rumors.) You may see him here or he will go to someone else and push a nice pg down to the Hawks, if indeed they trade into the middle to late first round.

  13. Initial reports by DraftExpress regarding a second private workout with Andrew Bynum appear to be right on the money. Multiple sources have confirmed that Portland indeed did workout Bynum on Thursday in their facilities, and that the Trailblazers will be making a move on draft night to trade out of the #3 spot and take Bynum.

According to what we’ve heard, the Lakers are out of the picture right now as a new team has emerged with a better offer. That team appears to be the Utah Jazz. A deal that could very well go down on draft night to satisfy both sides would be Portland sending Utah the #3 pick along with Ruben Patterson in return for the #6 pick, Kirk Snyder and Gordan Giricek. The deal works under RealGM.com’s trade checker. With the #3 pick, the Jazz would select Deron Williams, and with #6 Portland would take Andrew Bynum. The Jazz would try to fill their gaping hole on the wing with the #27 pick by selecting Matt Walsh. The problem is that both the Hawks and especially the Bobcats are aware of what’s going and could make a move to sabotage the trade by either taking Deron Williams at #2 or Andrew Bynum at #5.

So if this trade goes through, I dont think the Charlotte deal takes place(both their number #1's for the hawks number 1.) Paul would be taken at #4 by New Orleans, leaving atlanta with no shot at the top 2 pg's. And I guess that makes sense since allegedly the Hawks are trying to move into the late first to draft Ukic. It seems to add up....but we will see.

  14. I agree. There is no room, for Al, if Marvin is here. So I think that you have to trade Al, before he leaves on his own terms at the end of the year. I think Atlanta is more able to fill holes if Al stays. Atlanta doesnt have to waste time swapping out the same players at the same position if they keep Al. Coming away from this draft with a star quality pg and a quality big man would be real nice in addition to the 3 starters atlanta already has. On the other hand im not opposed to the team drafting marvin either. We will see what happends.
