  1. I agree Walter on both points. Lord have mercy if their would still be a way to get conley if we acquired Gasol. He gets a big to play with and a kick out guy in Joe. Im not gonna be mad if we end up with Law because I think hes ahead of Javaris at this point. But thoughts of a Javaris and Salim backcourt comming off the bench is intriguing.

  2. I know we are all hawks fans and want the best for our team but saying you want Noah over Gasol is just nuts. Speedy, at this point is not the pg of the future here and Chillz is not gonna get the money he would get somewhere else.

So if they would do #3,Chillz and Claxton which works out in the trade checker and fills needs for them (as well as them still having their #4)...

The real question is do you think Horford can average 20 and 10 in this league a season? Cause thats what Gasol does for you.

    You do this deal baby.

  3. Jerry when will we ever come to the point where we stop building for the future? By the time some of these players reach there potential, their contracts will be up and they will sign elswhere because we cant keep them all. And other teams are gonna bare the fruits of our labor. I think you make the deal for an all star that fills a need.

I think Chillz would be welcomed in memphis. They are going to a run and gun style (new coach) and beleive me they are gonna need someone like him. He can play defense, bring the ball up, and play that uptempo style. Thats like saying Phoenix couldnt use a player like chillz in that type of system.

#3, Chillz and Speedy....gets them their big (#3), Their diaw type player for Ivaroni's offense and a pg to run the show.

  4. Tx I agree with the trade scenario. I think you got to take Gasol cause he will be an all star in this confrence and potentially your best player. Nothing against Yi but by the time he reaches his peak Knight and the rest of the regime might not have a job.And to be honest how much better can Yi be then Gasol in these next few years?

  5. Soth you gotta deal chill. Hes got value and hes gonna excel in that system they are putting out there with the new coach. Chill will not see our starting lineup on a regular basis like someone has pointed out and he could walk next year.

#3, Chill, and Claxton gets that deal done. I mean you know Memphis is salivating over the possibility of having 2 top 5 picks and shaving money.

  6. I love it Sothron thanks!

Just to know that Billy has inquired about Amare makes me feel good. Probably would cost us 3,11 and someting like Josh smith....which I wouldnt do.

#3, Childress and Claxton would work in the trade checker for Gasol on real gm.

Gasol would be a definate upgrade for the team.

Be real nice to have that 1-2 punch of Gasol and Joe.

Anthony Johnson (Or whatever #11 can get us)

    Joe Johnson

    Marvin Williams

    Josh Smith

    Pau Gasol

We would be talking playoffs boys.

  7. I like that lineup KB. Jack and Johnson in the backcourt would be awesome. Two unselfish players, who can score (johnson more then jack of course), play defense and lead is something I would give #11 for. Get your quality big pf/center in horford (at #3) who gives us a back to the basket game, rebounding and shot blocking ability etc.

Only question the hawks would have to ask themselves in THIS scenario (taking conley out of the mix) is....Is jack better then acie law......and is horford a better choice then Ye.

  8. Im sure this will change many times before the actual draft. So everyone calm down. Nbadraft.net could put Mustafa Shakur at #11 and some of yall would have a heart attack.

I do like horford at #3 for the hawks(one because hes a really good player and 2 because its realistic that he will be there). Who knows who will be there at #11. Chances are the top rated pg in the draft (conley) wont be. Im ready for some immediate help from this draft class. Anything other then making the playoffs this year would be a failure imo.

  9. Sothron,

Conley/Hawes (or best available Forward/Center if Hawes is gone)

    or

Horford/Law (if Horford can play center)

If you get a chance Sothron, could you ask your sources if they think that Horford could play center for us on a regular basis? I mean hes what we havnt had. A potential threat in the post, a nice defender and he can rebound the ball. The kid is capable of giving us 12 and 10 a night imo.

Imagine this lineup at some point next season:

    Acie Law IV

    Joe Johnson

    Marvin Williams

    Josh Smith

    Al Horford

Its a young lineup but with those 2 rookies you are bringing 7 years college experience to the table (law 4 years, horford 3). Billy Knight/Mike Woodson and the rest of the regime cant afford to wait on players like Crittenton and Wright imo.

    Thanks

    DC

  10. Pete long time no see. I agree. Take conley and call it a day. This dude is gonna be unbeleivable. He is one of the first guys Ive seen as a young pg that made me say this dude was too good for the college level. Yeah he could stand to get stronger and work on his 3pt game but the dude does EVERYTHING ELSE. He was the best college pg in the country and the Hawks would be doing a big diservice to themselves by not taking him.

  11. I dont know how would we do it but if we could do #3/Marvin/Claxton for Aldridge/Jack/Miles/(Next Years #1 Non Protected)

I would do something like that....Miles and Speedy have comparable contracts....at least we could get something out of Miles.

    I wouldnt mind seeing:

    Jack/A Johnson/Lue

    Johnson/Childress/Salim

    Miles/Number #11 (Noah,Thornton?)

    Smith/Shelden/Solomon

    Aldridge/ZaZa/Lo

I mean how sweet would that be....even if phoenix takes our pick next year....we would have portlands.

  12. I agree Quest. Murph brings a diminsion that we havnt had since Collier. He can go beyong the arc, rebound and put the ball on the floor at 6'11. He would be nice at the pf postion but also could play the center position in spot duty. And then you throw in Pietrus? I just get excited thinking about it.

  13. I like it alot Rex. Bringing in at least 4 new guys (rookies and the 2 guys hopefully from GS) and losing 1 major guy in AL? I would do that. Hopefully ownership will sort itself out and we will be upgrading players every year as opposed to just finding able bodies.

    Starting Lineup:

    PG-Speedy Claxton

    SG-Joe Johnson

    SF-Josh Smith

    PF-Troy Murphy

    C-ZaZa

    Bench:

    PG- Lue

    SG- Pietrus

    SF- Childress

    PF- Marvin

    C-Shelden

Then we still have salim, jones and a few others.

    Sign me up.

  14. I wouldnt mind murphy as well. Gives us what we dont have much of and thats size that can go beyond the arc and while also putting the ball on the floor. Can rebound too.

As far as Pietrus, hes got alot of potential but the hawks have to utilize him (unlike diaw) in the open court. We hear atl is gonna step up to a more uptempo style and pietrus would make sense but if atl plays the kind of game we are used to seeing, I dont think it would be a smart move taking him on.

  15. Espn reports that a Fisher to Utah for 3 guards is about to go down. I wonder if that has anything to do with GS's intrest with AL. Are they bracing for Ellis to get dealt here? Lets hope so. That would be nice along with a big.

If we end up with Murphy(eat that contract and he will play alot of minutes at the PF/C position and will bring an opposing big out to the 3pt line to open it up for our other bigs) and Ellis for AL im gonna be real happy.

If we make that move I think we will be in contention for that last playoff spot. I think its even more incentive to not be a loser next year cause anything out of the top 3 is phoenix's. And that would freakin hurt.

    Make that trade baby.

  16. If we can add another big like foster I wouldnt mind. But it would be real nice to get ellis from gs and groom him behind speedy and even play him with lue. I would throw in Salim with AL just cause his playing time might not be there if we added a young pg (along with a big from GS).

AL for Murphy (PF/C) and Ellis (PG/SG)?

Would you do it? If we get those 2 im thinking we make a run at the playoffs baby.

GS is probably way high on ellis but if we eat Murphys contract and Murphy can get alot of minutes here why not.
