  1. Draft Hibbert to share minutes with Zaza at the 5. He can pass, can rebound, score the ball. Only downside is his minutes (conditioning) and hes not gonna fly around the court. But just to have that big to clog up the middle would be a nice element because we havnt had that for years.

*Of course this is all if we can acquire a draft pick

Sund says on Hawks.com that they not only havent signed him but are going to get together and watch tape to see if they even want to sign him. I guess that Isreal newspaper was unreliable. No wonder they have so much trouble with Palestine, lol.

I think if Billy Knight stayed, Anderson would have been here next year for sure. But now, the coaching situation is in limbo and we have a new GM, so nothing is for certain. I imagine the coach and his system has to be in place first before we even think about adding any other players. I don't think it hurts us to wait because he is our property(nba wise) unless hes on a timetable for an international offer. If they dont sign him, might as well trade him for something. There has been definate intrest from other teams. Maybe that allows us to get a pick in the draft without sacraficing our core (which Sund has talked about). I wouldnt mind if we can get in the middle or back end of the first round and get a big body or a shooter of the bench. I've been pushing for Rush from Kansas. Hes nba ready to come off the bench and contribute right away.

The Seattle fans on the espn board are ready to drive him to Atlanta. One of them said he is such a horrible judge of talent that he wouldnt spot Michael Jordan if he was sitting on his lap calling him Momma.

    Thats Classic.

  4. I really hope we don't sign Bibby for as much money as hes making now or even at all, after this year. I think Hinrich (Bulls) with Johnson would be a sick backcourt and we should push for a trade. I think Hinrich and Tyrus (like others have mentioned) would be nice because Tyrus can play the 4. Bibby gives them 1 year to teach Rose (if they draft him) and allows them to free up room to sign a free agent. Dunno what else would be required with Bibby but I think it would be an upgrade for us.

  5. I would prefer Noah but I imagine that they are probably sky high on him. Hinrich on this team with Johnson would do wonders. If anyone doesnt think Kirk is an upgrade from Bibby your gonna have to check yourself. If ATL can ship Bibby to cle for a first rounder and some filler, Im not opposed to that. Smith is the biggest trading chip we have so if atl is gonna do something, they better get some huge returns.

  6. Some backround on Lindsey before he was brought on to be the assistant gm last year for the Spurs....

Lindsey has spent the past 11 seasons with the Houston Rockets, the last five as vice president of basketball operations/player personnel. Prior to being named vice president, Lindsey spent three seasons as director of player personnel. During the 1998-99 season, he served as the Rockets director of player development. Lindsey joined the Rockets in 1996 as personnel video coordinator/scout.

  7. Thanks for the info. Kinda reminds me of what the falcons did (IF they get lindsey). Get someone who was apart of one of the best franchises that might not have had the keys to the operation but was heavily involved.

I dont see why he wouldnt make the move to the hawks. Maybe this could pave the way for Avery coaching here. Who knows, one step at a time.

  8. I think we should trade into the late lottery or middle of the draft. I don't want to hear this we didn't have a healthy Bibby all year. Trotting out this same team is going to be a waste of time especially if teams like Chicago, Indiana get their sh*t together. Beleive me Miami is a D. Rose or a Beasley away from being right where we ended up this past year (last playoff spot).

I dont know what the hawks money situation is, but we hear that they dont have much of it. While we hear the owners will spend if they have to, they wont ever come out publicly and say they just dont have the money to spend. Moving on....

Where do you go for talent?....Do you go through free agency/existing nba players or try to trade into the draft. If it was up to Joe Johnson I dont think he would mind players like Marcus Camby or Ron Artest in Atlanta. Artest you could sign straight up (albeit for money that atl might not have) or trade Marvin out west with Speedys contract for Camby. I think Camby would be nice but I also wish he was 30. Hes getting up there so I dont know how much he has left.

If their are 2 players in college that I would take a shot at later lottery/middle of the first round its Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush. Beleive me I hate going to the well too much in the draft but I think these 2 guys can step in and log quality minutes.

Hibbert can split time with Zaza at the 5 and let Al slip down to the 4. Hes an intelligent big body who can put the ball in the hole, is not a liablity at the FT line and can rebound and block shots. Can't count how many times we got BEASTED down low this year. I know hes played limited minutes with the Hoyas and his rebound numbers arent all THAT but the Hoyas system didnt allow him to board as many basketballs as he would in the NBA.

Rush is nba ready. Hes listed at about 6'6 but hes got that freakish wingspan like prince does in det. He does most things well. I mean hes not a supererior ball handler but, the man is the shooter (with size) we have been looking for to come off the bench. I know Joe would appreciate having someone like him and I think he would be awesome to pair with Childress off the bench.

There are so many scenarios to where our players can be traded both straight up and through sign and trade. I just think adding players like Hibbert and Rush (through the draft) would be key for us.

  9. Last night was about as bad as it gets.

    No Gasol haters today?

Last night was the first time I realized the gap between our superstar and theirs. Its just a whole 'nother level. But if you dont have lebron or maybe wade you will come out on the short end against Kobe. It is what it is.

I almost threw my remote control across the room at all the turnovers. Every single Hawk should have turned in their paycheck except Richardson. I mean the lakers came out like they were playing for their lives and the hawks just were just being the old hawks.

Im interested to see what kind of vet, physical, tall 5 we can get. Al Horford is cute at the 5 but he needs help. Get a A. Williams, M. Madsen type in here to bang and board. This road trip is gonna be tough but I think we will a better team after it (time to gel and plus the level of competition in the west is better then what you will find in the east).

  10. I wouldn't mind the Hawks signing him. He can come in and strech the floor by pulling opposing big men away from the basket (with his jumper). I also agree we need a man who will run through a brick wall for you like Mark Madsen. Be interested to see what happends as we get closer to the deadline.

  11. I agree with you guys. Hawks fans saying this is not an upgrade to our team is funny. We get a proven pg and shed alot of fat on this team that doesnt even play. Is Bibby Chris Paul or Deron Williams? No. But good luck in trying to acquire those guys.

We still need to get a shooter with size and a servicable 5 to take the heat off AL a little bit.

  12. I would do that deal and twice on Sunday. Its frustrating because we dont know what kinda money the ASG is willing to spend. Plus we would have to sweeten the pot with something they can have for the future (ie like they got crittenton and draft picks).

  13. Quote:

Frye would be a disaster at the 5, but I agree completely about Jack & Jones. (That sounds like a BBQ sauce).

Is Frye any worse then what Zaza, Shelden, Wright is giving us? I mean at least we can have an athletic (tall) body in there who have some sort of skill that can give Horford a few minutes off. I hear what you are saying but by no means am I suggesting that Frye start.

  14. Jack, Frye and James Jones could fill 3 needs for us. Are these earth shaking moves? No. But you wouldnt have to give up Horford,Johnson,Williams or Smith either. In Jack we get a pg who could give us 10 and 4 a night at the least. Frye would give Horford some time off at the 5 and also allow Horford to play the 4 in certain situations. And even though James Jones is out for 3-5 weeks. This man is 58-120 on 3 ptrs. Thats almost 50 percent from a 6'8 shooting guard/Small forward. His FG percentage is almost 47 percent in 199 attempts.

All cheap alternatives to getting us better. Childress and contract expirations (Shelden if necessary too).

I mean would you not do Childress, Salim and Shelden (if it even takes that much) for Jack, Frye and Jones? Considering 2 of our players in that trade dont even play.

  15. Im actually more worried about the game tom against the bobcats. This has been the Hawks MO all season. Compete with the elite teams and underacheive against good/average teams. I dunno what the score will be tonight but I expect the HAWKS to give a great effort tonight.

  16. The players are clearly calling for a change as are we. We have got to make a coach or a player move. I can't see Woody being let go right now because I think Billy Knight feels that Woody is the best option to save his own GM tail(this year). I dunno if I agree with it, but that has to be what hes thinking.

I'd like for the hawks to be able to keep the core group intact. The wildcard is Josh Childress. I think this team can get a 2 or 3 role players to come in without trading him(using other young players and/or expirings) but if they do decide to put him on the block, he can fetch someone like Mike Miller from memphis(who brings an outside game that we lack from the bench) or shoot for the stars with Hinrich from Chicago.

  17. Like I've been saying since day one, this team is/will continue to tread water. The thing thats crazy is that we are possibly playoff bound but that is not enough for alot of fans (me included). I hope that ATL will add a few roll players(without getting rid of any of our core group) so we can actually do some damage 'if' we get their.

Players like Kareem Rush(SG with size and 3pt range), Mark Madsen(can be our bulldog and our toughest player with Mario)....I mean these guys can be had for very little...Hope Billy is up to something cause making the playoffs with a sub 500 record doesnt exactly excite me.
