  1. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2532743 The Indiana Pacers came to terms Friday with Euroleague star Maceo Baston, his agent Marc Bartelstein told ESPN.com. Baston, a 6-foot-9 athletic power forward who played his college ball at Michigan, has spent the last three years playing for Euroleague powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He averaged 12.8 ppg and 4.9 rpg on 63 percent shooting in 24 mpg for Maccabi last year in Euroleage play. His best season came in 2004-05 when he averaged 14.6 ppg and helped lead Maccabi to a second straight Euroleague title. Baston is widely regarded as one of the top five power forwards in Europe. Baston will be the eigth new player on the Pacers roster this season and should be able to step right in and give the Pacers some depth and athleticism at the power forward position.
  2. Quote: I agree. I don't think Zaza should play over one of our young players. Hopefully by the end of the season, and especially heading into the 2007-2008 season, Zaza isn't a starter anymore. LOL. Zaza is 4 months younger then Shelden Williams. So, Zaza is one of our younger players.
  3. I wish the Hawks would have kept Speedy on the team when we had him.
  4. Quote: Its not that they don't play defense, its that the rules are so heavily skewed towards offense. Thanks. I wanted to make a point. That's why the hawks should pick a scorer, not potential. We have enough players that we are waiting to see if they develop into basketball players. The league has changed to befit scoring not athleticism or physical play.
  5. From what I seen, I believe that ACC plays better defense. I’m guessing because they have more off days to recover and a shorter schedule. In the NBA, it seems that most teams only play defense in the last few seconds of the shot clock, quarter, or game. So they can reserve energy for the next game or season.
  6. The point I was trying to make is that there have been some successful players to make the NBA that were not scoring machines in college. The Hawks, especially if we loss AL will need someone to score besides JJ.
  7. Dirk Nowitzki , DAL - F 7'0" Steve Nash , PHX - PG - 6'3" Pau Gasol , MEM - F 7'0" Peja Stojakovic , IND - F 6'10" Wally Szczerbiak , BOS - F 6'7" Prior to the draft were any of these guys considered athletic? Did any of these guys lead the county in scoring? I don't think so, but they are good pieces to their team. Now we may have a chance to get a scoring machine in Adam Morrison. Not sure why so many people dislike Adam Morrison so much. He played on a team that had virtually no other NBA type talent and was double teamed often, especially when they had to get a shot off, yet all he did was score. You can’t beat a double team or the other teams best defender each night unless you have some ability to beat your man, which takes athletic ability. I don't post often but I visit here 2 to 3 times a day. Last season the Hawks were in a lot of games until the end and we just didn't make the right pass or took the right shot. We have some really great athletes on the team, now we just need some BASKETBALL PLAYERS TO PUT US OVER THE HUMP. Last question; If Al is gone - who is going to score our points? JJ is great and one of my favorite players in the league. Smooth has the potential to be really special, but not likely to happen as fast as we like, not game in and game out anyway. So, we need a scorer. We need Adam Morrison.
  8. For some reason he just didn't have confidence. Maybe it was being a rookie, or being new to USA, or maybe the coach didn't handle him right. Most likely it was all 3. He would turn down lay-ups in Atlanta - now he leads the Suns in shots taken in game 7 and game 1? That would never have happen in Atlanta.
  9. That Boris Diaw has lead Phoenix Suns in shoots taken in both game 7 and now game 1 . I never would have thought that!
  10. If the team improves only 6-points a game. Then you can add 16 more wins to last year's total.
  11. Hi guys I'm new to this board. I know that most people believe that Darko is/was a bust but you have to remember that he was the youngest player ever drafted in the NBA. Right now he is only 20 years 1 month old today. From the www.NBA.com site: Name Birthdate Darko 6/20/1985 Josh C. 6/20/1983 - 2 years older then Darko Josh S. 12/5/1985 - 6 months younger then Darko Marvin W. 6/19/1986 - 1 year younger then Darko And to think that he has been in the league practing against big Ben for 3 years. I still do not know if he is any good or not but he is so young. I would trade Al, Boris and 1st for Darko and Carlos Arroyo.
