  1. Yeah, I knew the Batista wansn't the deal Mullins was referring to, I was asking if everyone thought that Curry was the one we were in discussion for.
  2. Thanks for the info guys. I try to keep up with what's going on this site (I'm fairly new to it), but I don't have time to wade through all the bogus reports and such to find out what's the real story sometime. AJC hasn't really had much that I've seen in weeks concerning the Hawks other than announcing the signing of Batista. Any ideas if that was THE DEAL that was being referring to a few weeks back or could there be another potential deal?
  3. A few weeks ago, there were posts that Atlanta was in discussions with another team about acquiring another big man, leading us and the media to speculate on the Curry talks opening up again. Now that training camp is near opening, has anyone heard anything more of this or other potential (not fabricated) deals? Did the talks fail or were they ever revived? I don't get to read every post on here, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed recently (although I couldn't find where after quickly scanning) ON another note, it sucks because I'll be in ATL attending a convention right by Phillips Arena and the Hawks are on the road. I was looking forward to attending my first game! Oh well.
  4. I hope you're right, but if Marvin averages 10PPG off the bench, the Hawks will make the playoffs because their starting 5 will be putting up some great #'s.
  5. This would also give some people credibility or shoot down their ridiculous trade proposals and theories.
  6. Roll on the floor laughing out loud? I think
  7. I'm not one of those people who think Marvin Williams will be the next Michael Jordan, but I certainly don't see that as a smart move. I'd have to see something more in Darko (like actual playing time) to make a move like that.
  8. Quote: the only way for us to get Curry is to give up Harrington. I dont think that is a good deal for us. I say let Harrington play for us and we will evaluate ourselves at the trading deadline and see if he is worth trading. I would love to have Reggie Evans, I think he would be a huge pickup for us, if we get him we would have a real shot at the playoffs this year. Which lineup would you rather have? C-Curry PF-Smith SF-Childress SG-JJ PG-Lue or C-Zaza PF-Harrington SF-Smith SG-Childress PG-JJ w/ Reggie Evans off the bench I think the first one is a much better upgrade especially with the debate raging on whether or not JJ can run the point.
  9. What need would they (or anyone else) have for Collier if they don't need Blount?
  10. Quote: yeah, he said 2 pfs, 2 centers, 2 pf/centers zaza is considered a center collier is considered a center edwards/batista are pf/centers I think at 7', Edwards is considered a center. Batista and ZaZa are the only ones I think that could be considered a F/C. Zaza played center most of the time, but has also played PF.
  11. Evans is a banger, but who would we trade? I thought the discussion ealier in the week was Bernie said we would have 6 big bodies. ZaZa, Collier, Edwards, Batista, J. Smith (most consider him a PF), Harrington. If a trade was for another, we all assume Al is the one being traded. I don't see losing Al for Reggie Evans as an upgrade. Al for Curry is a tossup since both are injury risks. Al's knees and Curry's heart, although the latter is the greatest concern.
  12. I think a quality center would be the best thing fo trade for it that's what's going to happen. Zaza/Collier/Edwards is still not the most formidable trio. I see Batista as more of a backup PF. Someone posted here earlier they read the talks between Chicago and Atl for Curry could begin heating back up. Any word on that. I still believe if healthy, Curry could potentially be the missing link to bringing the Hawks out of the cellar and possibly into a playoff contending team. C-Curry PF-Smith SF-Childress SG-JJ PG-Lue Bench would be a little weaker (or at least more dependent on unproven talent with big upsides-Williams, Stoudamire, Batista, Edwards) with a couple of good players Delk, ZaZa, but very solid non-the-less.
  13. Love your site Bill and looking forward to reading the book. Thanks for passing on the "official" press release.
  14. For the record, when I said a poor man's Chandler, I really meant a wino's Chandler. But seriously, can he be much worse than Collier?
  15. He sounds kinda' like a poor man's Tyson Chandler. Solid rebounder, Big and Tall, (maybe weaker defensively), but can score if he's all alone and doesn't blow the dunk.
  16. How many active players can a team keep? I thought it was 12. If the Hawks sign anyone else, they've got some decisions to make regarding players like Ivey, Donta, and possibly Big John or Collier. PG-JJ/Lue/Ivey SG-Chill/Stoudamire/Delk SF-J. Smith/Marvin/D. Smith PF-Al/Batista C-Zaza/Collier/Big John That's 14. I know if you're active roster is 12, you would have 3 on IR. Who gets the bump? Ivey and Donta are the most likely candidates, but who else?
  17. Gotta' love DimeSmack's take on everything. It's quite humurous most of the time. I think they ended one article a few weeks back, We're out like Steve Belkin.
  18. Quote: Quote: Before the day of Wednesday, the center led the statistic of bounces with an average of 15.6 by party, with a total of 78 in five games, as well as the one of offensive bounces, with 5.2 by game (26 altogether). In addition, it was quarter between the maximum anotadores, with 20.2 points marked by party, third in robberies (with 2.0) and fifth in blockades (1.2 of average). I glad to see we're getting a player who is good at getting bounces, robberies, and blockades. So in other words, the Hawks are looking at tigger who does a good job building defenses opposing armies can't penetrade and likes to get things with the good ole' five finger discount........WTF?
  19. If Al's post moves are half as good this season as they are in the game, he'll be a averaging over 20PPG. I've got him in at PF and outside Tim Duncan, he's beating everyone to the hole easily when he's got decent energy. When he gets tired, he leaves alot of shots short (naturally), but he's explosive when energized. My current lineup rotation is like this: C-Zaza/Collier/Edwards PF-Al/Smith/Zaza/Outlaw (FA signee to fill out bench) SF-J. Smith/Marvin/Childress/Donta SG-JJ/Childress/Stoudamire/Donta PG-Lue/JJ/Stoudamire I don't have Delk on my team. I traded him and Royal Ivey to Houston to get Lue on my team when my season started. Ironically Ivey's starting PG for Houston and lit me up for 23 when I played them.
  20. They've been listing him as that since last season, but his shooting needs to improve greatly before he could even remotely be considered a guard. I don't remember anytime last season he played anything other than the 3 or 4.
  21. Oh yeah, I've been playing Live 05' with this team. JJ and Harrington are absolutely tearing it up, but I have since moved JJ to SG and Lue is now starting @ PG because despite 20+PPG 3RPG and 4+APG, JJ's assist/to ratio is not very good and has cost me a few. Marvin and Salim have been beasts of the bench for me. Childress hasn't played very well at all (10PPG 3RPG) so he's now pulling bench duty. I'm 15-11 so far. Even big John (I had to create him because I couldn't find him on Indy's roster) has been a decent backup.
  22. If his shooting % is that high, he'll score more than 20 PPG since he'll be the Hawks primary offensive weapon. I'm thinking more like 22PPG 3RPG 4.3APG 42% FGP 38% 3PT. Just my 2 pennies though
  23. Quote: Do we know the terms of the deal. Maybe it's a 1 yr guaranteed with a 2nd yr as the team option.. Because just imagine. What If John Edwards came in and put up: 12 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 bpg off the bench... You wouldn't want to lose that kind of production to FAcy would you? If John Edwards comes in a puts up 5 pts, 3 rebs, and 1/2 bpg off the bench I'll be starting at PG next year for the Hawks because they have some magic syrum they're passing around.
  24. Freakishly long arms. Does anyone else get the feeling he could be the next Vince Carter (circa: early Toronto years before the injuries)?
  25. Quote: The Pacers at times because of everything that happend didn't have any depth at all... Yet, Edwards still didn't get playing time. Sounds like a wasted million. Actually a pretty good point.
