    Josh Smith

I love the guy, he is the hawks for all I'm concerned (JJ too). The guy plays his heart out, and yeah he might not be the best shooter or have the best handles, but he still leaves it all on the court. He does things that no other player in the nba does, that's enough for me. Leave him alone he's not going anywhere (if the people making the decisions have a brain). We couldn't get anything close to his value unless you get a top ten player (kobe, lebron, amarie, howard, etc... He's going to make mistakes, but he's going to make those mistakes playing his heart out. That alright with me!
  2. josh just plays a little defense, but josh is a SF. he might have player 10min at PF last year. don't take the name so literally, especially with knight running the show. b/c you play point guard, it doesn't mean you have to point, b/c you play shooting guard, it doesn't mean you have to be able to shoot, small forward can be bigger that power fowards and some power fowards aren't very powerful. centers are usually not in the center of the court and these days are not the center of attention
  3. if i were al i think i would feel a little slighted right now, i think he's going to make people notice him this year.
  4. evens would add toughness and would be good signing at the right price. however googs and evans are not really comparible two different styles of play but i hope we get googs, evans, and lue. start the season baby
  5. i'm not calling him out his name, i generally don't even talk to posters, i usually just post my opinions in general. this is not a chatroom and i can't stand attitude especially from a man.
  6. was it or was it not part of the trade and i'm not getting into all that techie stuff but since your a cba expert, if the hawks go over the salary cap will the hawks have their mid-level exception
  7. let's run it and see where it goes. maybe al and jj are a perfect 1-2 punch and smooth and chillz are a perfect 3-4 punch. the hawks starters could end up averaging 80 points a game by themselves. if the bench can come up with 20 more the hawks win 35 games this year.
  8. both of your list are pretty good but, the difference is those players that were acc roy were probably already the stars on their prospective teams unlike williams. i've said it before sean may would've been a better pick, he brings to the table what the hawks need. for god's sake he was the best player on the best team and he's a big man in the best college basketball conference. did you see what the guy did in the championship game, that performance alone is supposed to make you the #1 pick in any draft that doesn't have lebron, and the pistons being dumbies ie. carmelo anthony
  9. i think you are missing what i was saying completely. first off you say we didn't give up the 5 million exception then you say the only reason the suns got it. well how did they get it, did they steal it from us, no, we gave it to them. we could have given up players instead of the exception, would that mean that we didn't give up the players. Second, i'm not saying that JJ won't be successful. i was just putting it out there, what could happen if this calculated risk isn't successful. third, i hope marvin williams becomes a great player, but, at this time he is not better than smooth or al and by the middle of the season he will not be better than smooth or al. if the hawks get fair trade value for al in a trade, marvin won't be better than the player(s) the hawks get. and who is to say that al and smooth don't become excellent players as you say marvin may become. at this time and possibly in the future marvin should be on the bench and al should be here. why give up a good thing for something that is unproven. and i do believe al is worth 10 mill max if he can come cheaper of course you get him at a lower price. sometimes posters can be so, feminine.
  10. Hawks Tawk The future Opinion Kid Dynomite has been formally introduced as the savior to the hawks organization. and if you don't think that he is supposed to be the savior, you are sadly mistaken. teams don't give a player 70 million over 5 years, with 20 million in the first year to continue to have a sorry team. teams don't give up 2 first round draft picks and 5 million dollars for 17/5/3.5. teams give up all that for all star, superstar, 25/6/6. bron bron numbers baby. the Kid has a lot of pressure on him, he has several people's jobs in his hands (knight, woodson, nique). he possibly has the franchises future in atlanta in his hands. just imagine if this whole joe johnson thing turns out to be a mistake. imagine if he can't handle the pressure of being the man. what if he loses the jump shot. what if he's not a point guard. what if he really did look better than he was with the suns b/c of nash, amarie, richardson, and marion taking all the pressure of him. imagine if the hawks win 20, 25, 30 in the next three years. if this were to happen, we might not have to imagine atlanta being without an NBA team. that is a ton of pressure for one player to have on his shoulders. one way to take some of that pressure off of kid dynomite is to put some good players around him. and a popular notion surronding the hawks is that they are going to trade al mr. bundy harrington. i understand that mr. bundy is going to demand some money, true. but he is a good player and maybe just maybe we should give it to him. then people say what about marvalous marvin williams. what about him? is he going to come in and put up 17/7/3, no. well then, sit the bench youngster. it can be just like at north carolina. i don't believe that marvalous is better than smooth or mr. bundy, and i do think there is a chance he will never be better than al or smooth, so why downgrade. unless this is all about money and the hawks future budget which it very may well be, i don't understand all the trade al talk. in no situation do i see the hawks getting equal value for harrington. al for curry. al's numbers were better, al has a better work ethic, al doesn't have heart problems. al for darko and anybody other than one of the wallaces. this trade would be boarder line mentally disabled. marvalous has shown me more than darko, so why give up a good established player for a skinny unproven player whose potential and upside is very overated. al for starbury. could you imagine how unhappy marbury would be leaving his home town to go to the worst team in the league. better yet, could you imagine how many shots he would take a game. stephon wouldn't make others on the team better, he wouldn't even care about the team. he would destroy the locker room, and seriously damage the maturation of the young players on the team. and if i remember correctly his contract numbers are enormous. al for nene doesn't make sense for the nuggets with melo and martin already in the front court. in order for al to be traded, the hawks have to get equal value or at least a can't miss youngster. a trade that does make sense is al for lamar odom. odom would bring versitily, ballhandling, and passing skills as well as scoring ability. another trade that would be interesting would be al for troy murphy. they have similar stats but murphy rebonds better and is taller. other than those trades, al should stay. pay him the 10 million he deserves and allow this team to grow together for the next four years. if the opportunity arises that a true center is on the market and can be gotten through trading al, the hawks should be all for it, but there is no reason to reach for something that is not as good as what they al-ready have. Predictions high end: hawks average over 100 point per game being led by johnson 24ppg, and al 20ppg. low end: hawks trade al and delk for darko, arroyo , and a 1st. known as the a.d. absolutely dumb for atlanta and all detroit for detroit Mind over Matters how many quality players can you have on one team? ask miami, what they are attempting to do is ridiculous and is destined for failure, just ask the yankees. what i truely do not understand is why the hawks drafted williams with the 2nd pick. i would understand if it was the 2nd round pick, but number 2 overall. what i don't understand even more is why didn't the hawks draft the best player on williams' team, Sean May. he's an excellent rebounder, has good inside scoring, and is huge, maybe a bit too huge but that can be worked on. williams wasn't the second best player on his team let alone the second best player in the draft. love ya marvalous, just making a point would you do it smooth for marion (the player that i believe smooth is most likely to end up resembling most)
  11. i don't see why we don't give al a new contract, unless we're just trying to save money. i in no way seeing marvin being as good a player as al in the next three seasons. and i really don't think he will ever be as good as al. al is a 20-9 guy. you don't trade that for darko, a draft pick, or someone on your roster you think has potential. al is proven and everybody just wants to throw him away after one year and i don't understand why. why not have two proven scoring threats on the team, see if one of the youngsters becomes consistant, then you have something to build on
  12. you guys do realize that in april smooth avg. 16points 9.5reb 2assits and 2 blocks, those are the numbers of a very good player. players get 70mill b/c of those numbers
  13. smooth can be a star but first he must work on his handles and his shot, both of which can be improved through hard work. it's on smooth whether he becomes a star or not. if he is willing to get dribbling lessons and shooting lessons, he will be a star.
  14. there will be a false sense of pressure on chillz because of the additions, much of which comes from the bombs JJ and especially salim are dropping. he hears phantom footsteps and whispers about his starting security. it will improve as the year goes on and you are probably right it won't drop that low maybe to 42%
