  1. y2kenta,

  2. lol, he think he did what he was supposed to do : NEGATIVE !!!!

He played the PF most of the playoffs and failed miserably .

Don't look at everything negative or " every glass half empty"...He also admitted that he had some struggles, specifically on the offensive end and he also mentioned room for improvement and that he is focused on doing that in this offseason...

The whole damn would be just a little better if people weren't so negative so much. Its always easy to spot the negatives.

AND he even had some "slight" CRITICISM for Joe Johnson.

Horford is a winner! And will only get better and smarter!

  3. +1 reeballin4, even though this is not a new topic, I don't mind hearing different takes on it right now...Here's mine:

We do need a refreshing feel on this team, but I agree, Josh shouldn't be traded. At least not in this offseason. He is still the face of the Hawks to most casual fans and he is potentially the most talented/versatile with the most potential on our team. I think the Hawks should at least let him work this summer and come into the season and show where his head is at. If this is the season that he starts to put it all together, LOOK OUT!!! And, if its not, we will still plenty of intringuing offers by the deadline. Let me say that again clearly...

We should not rush to trade Josh because there will be offers for him now, later at the deadline, and again after next season!!! No need to rush unless we're getting a CP3, Deron, Dwight, or maybe even Montae.

As for Free Agency, the goal is obviously to go hard after one of the centers: Dalembert, Nene (opting out), Chandler, and less likely M. Gasol and D. Jordan...Then we have to add a J-Rich, JR, or Shannon Brown to bring energy and scoring to the bench, especially if Jamal is not being resigned...

Afterwards, the HAWKS must look to trade/shed the contracts Marvin and Hinrich to make cap room and add a productive slasher/shooter off the bench...

  4. That the HAWKS have already started talks with Dalemebert's agent about options of bringing him to ATL!

    That would be huge!

IF we are able to get Daly, keep Smoove and Horford, we'd have the most, dynamic, and best defensive front court in the NBA!

And we could still resign Collins as a 3rd string, emergence "Dwight Support" (Flight Support)...

We need to use Crawford (S&T), Marvin, and possibly Kirk's contracts to either go to SAC or dump for cheaper, useful players.

    TRADE WITH SAC: Marivin + Kirk + filler/2nd <-for-> Daly + Casspi

    1. SAC craving to get a legitimate PG to move Tyreke to the SG. Kirk would fit and is worth Daly's new starting salary!

    2. Casspi wants out of SAC. It was in the public just before the season ended. Marvin gives them a starting SF (who may need a new team to show something).

    3. Dalembert was unhappy most of the season, being benched because of Cousins development and good play. Just makes sense.

  5. IT'S OBVIOUS but too many of us won't face the reality that ORLANDO is in our DIVISION!!!

They will NEVER TRADE Dwight to the Hawks. No matter how bad we want him to play in his hometown. And trust me, not many people want him here more than me.

The silver lining is that CP3 would arguably make just as good (possibly better) and is a lot more possible to trade for. It's gonna cost us Joe or Josh, plain and simple.

It's obvious they'd hardball us for Josh in a deal and who could argue with that or turn down a CP3 to join Joe and Horford???

    And yes, I said Joe.

Why would they go near Joe's contract with a 10ft pole?

Because, like DEN, they will need to take back a trade that saves them face from losing a franchise player who wants to leave.

They would have to look at the facts that Joe is a 5-time Allstar, still a top 3 player at his position (when playing right). This scenario is least likely, but hey!

Since this is the least likely scnario, how could we pull it off....Hmmm....

How about this trade: ATL-SAC-NOH Blockbuster Deal!

    Just a dream.

  6. It just hit me:

Why dont Joe & Horford run pick-n-roll more??? Like Hedo-Dwight in 08.

Joe - would be harder to double, get instant mismatches to attack, and with the pick-n-roll commanding 2-3 defenders, Joe can pass great enough to open everybody up especially if Crawford.

Horford - would be abe to pop to that deadly mid range, roll to basket, or get switch w/ guard defending him (post up)...

  7. Kobe needs to be replaced with Lebron (and probably Wade top). Those guys have gotten calls for the 76ers breathing on them.

Kobe has been called for quite a few calls in this series with the Hornets , including 2 fouls on 3-pointers by CP3 and then Kobe got a T when he complained.

The pic should have Dwight elbow to Collins head, and Leborn or Wade running through a 76er charge.

LET'S DO IT!!! NOT JUST TALK, REALLY DO IT.

WE, THE REAL HAWKS FANS, NEED TO SHOW SOME KINDA HEART.

I WOULD w/ NO HESITATION IF I HAD TICKETS.

    * I also wanted to make "COME HOME DWIGHT" poster or shirts - LoL! It may be very unlikely but I'd do that too!

  8. Too late. He needed coaches who would teach him fundamentals and humility when he was 18-22. The ship has sailed. You can't just learn good habits overnight. All a decent coach would do to him now is clash with #5's massive ego.

I doubt its too late at age 25! We've seen plenty of great coaches mold "loosely-focused" players into better players and even champions in some instances.

He has some flaws, but he also has tons of good intangibles and abilities that few players in this league have. His focus on his strengths seems to be the main problem. Because we all saw last year how much more efficient he was offensively without the large amount of long jumpers. I know a respectable coach would get Josh to play to his strengths more and take him to another level. He's not the worst player or the biggest head case in the league.

We all know how the greats like Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Larry Brown, Don Nelson and others did wonders with many players.

But also coaches like Bryon Scott, Mike Brown has helped the careers of a few players and showed the ability to handle egos and command respect.

Hell, Avery Johnson arguably made Dirk Nowitzki stronger inside and defensively = Dirk became MVP.

  9. I'm surprised JP didn't get a suspension or something for missing the game when he was arrested. Traffic violation or not, they should send the guy a message.

ET doesn't seem like he can really do anything. Pape Sy will remain Pop Secret, I'm afraid.

:sarcastichand: Called that dude Pop Secret...LMAO!!!

  10. What we need is a beast.

I can live with Horf at Pf.

Get Al Jefferson for Smoove and Craw.

That would be getting a beast!

LoL! @ "Get Al Jefferson for Smoove and Craw"...Jefferson is not a true Center and isn't what he used to be a couple years ago, despite still being young...No Deal.

  11. Jason Walker is no idiot but I disagree with his opinion.

We could get something with Jamal Crawford's expiring contract BUT JW is probably going off the premise that the ASG will not pay luxury tax next year which makes trading an expiring contract for a longer contract an impossibility.

That limits the Hawks to trading existing salary on next years books for equal salary on next years books. That is why Smoove is a candidate there with trade value. We may be able to trade a very talented tweener for a very taletented PG and/or C.

I guess I don't really mean to call him an idiot...But I just felt the statement was idiotic...Sorry bout that.

And why does Josh Smith seemed to be the only core member to consistently be mentioned for trade? Why is Marvin absent in most trade discussions? So Marvin, 6'9, with his abilities, and his 3yr/$22MIL remaining would be hard to move? Especially packaged with Crawford or Teague + pick (like Jason said, if we're not gonna play him enough). Shouldn't that be good enough value for a 2nd tier PG or C like D. Harris, Kaman, or maybe Nash???

    Just saying.

  12. Jason Walker of Peacthree hoops was making some very solid points about Drew's comments and the Hawks past reluctance to shake things up...But then...Around the 13:45 mark of the interview here THIS idiot Jason Walker said one of the only deals the Hawks could make with what we have, would be Jamal Crawford for Eric Maynor???? LMAO and SMH!!!

    :beat:

  13. Note: Dalembert is frustrated with his decreased role in SAC and he'd be a major upgrade over Collins!!! With Dalembert at C, we'd have an extremely athletic, DEFENSIVE frontcourt, with 3 shotblockers that rebound and run! Dalembert basically said that he wants to play for a contender for the next 5 years if he's not going to be used in SAC to help them get better.

I'd offer this deal to SAC:

Marvin+Zaza+cash for Dalembert+Casspi and as you see the trade is successful and both teams would benefit greatly...

AND the biggest thing is he's an expiring contract!!!! So we can release him if he doesn't work out or with Zaza and Marvin's contract being moved, we could offer Daly a cheaper deal like around $6-7MIL per and maybe RESIGN JAMAL for $7-8MIL per (which is the most he'll probably get in FA)...

That should free up money to resign guys like Moe, Collins and cheap FAs to fill the roster next

  14. He didn't outperform Mo, just played better man defense and even then he fouled too much. Wilkins just isn't a NBA caliber player anymore. I like him but it's time for him to go into another profession. I don't even see him fitting in Europe and no point for Damien going to the D-League. Mo Evans is your average 8th to 9th man off your bench. Nothing good, just average with one or two strengths which aren't always effective.

He clearly outplayed Mo Evans....Mo has been horrible this year and despite shooting a horrific 37% on FG and 29% from 3PT, he has had plenty opportunity with Marvin playing poor early and being injured twice this year! Mo is supposed to be a guy counted on for onball defense, but he constantly get scored on and he fouls ridiculously too much to be a perimeter defender...Just in the last 3 games, he got smashed in OKC and LAC, then Tyreke flat out dogged Mo over and over on offense AND defense...Last year Mo came was nearly automatic from corner 3PT, but this year his shot has been worse than J-Smoove's...Damien was decent and shoulda got more minutes, Mo should be the on waived right now...

  15. I knew there were a few of us (true Hawks fans) out there that are as passionate as I am about our team...My wife always thinks I'm going insane or something when I'm yelling at the scree or yelling from the stands at the game...She always says, "I bet there aint nobody else that acts like that just by watching basketball"...Well this thread definitely shows that more fans like me do exist...

Thanks Wretch for creating this thread. And I'm definitely feeling the same way about the weak, heartless fight the Hawks (as a team) had fought with over the last 2 weeks! It's pathetic, embarrasing, and really angers me...
