Adams is making $25 mil/year.  How is that half of Drummond?

I don't see Drummond getting a max either, btw and definitely wouldn't want us to do that.  I think the Adams contract is about on par for what Drummond will get, maybe a tad more just bc this is 3 years later.

Okay, so half wasn't accurate.  More like a lot less especially if a team pays Drummond 30plus million a year.

He is simply not worth 6x more than Len. He is extremely overvalued.

    Finally

This.  Look.  Drummond is a helluva player.  You gotta respect his ability to rebound and be a defensive game changer at times.  But he's NOT a max player in today's NBA by any stretch if you're trying to build a championship team. He's basically a likeable, non-douchebag, Dwight Howard.  He doesn't stretch the floor, cannot hit free throws, and becomes a garbage only offensive player when playing against a good team with another competent defensive big.  There is a reason he's being shopped.  Detroit, much like Atlanta with Howard, is looking for the most pennies on the dollar for a guy that, again, is really great at certain things, but is not a well rounded player.  The team that gives him the max will regret it massively.  Stephen Adams, while much less sexy, would provide 90% of what Drummond would bring with half the pricetag.

  3. Came over from realgm.  I can't remember if I heard about it there or just found it googling.  I'm mostly quiet except for draft, free agency, and of course the trade deadline as those are the times where the most exciting action happens.  And let's face it....the Hawks are ever hoping for that free agent or draft pick to hit to lift us up.

I understand Schlenk being held accountable for his misteps in the roster vets, firing because he doesn't get #1 or #2 is not steeped in reality, it's just profoundly reactionary and just not reality when it comes to the draft.

Egggggsactly. It was clearly stated by he whom I come out of the woodworks for(LOL) that if he/Schlenk doesn't get the #1 or #2, then he should be terminated.  This is determined by circumstances outside of anyone's control unless you're a hopeless conspiracy theorist.  He knows what he said.  He's not stupid.

  5. I'm sorry.  I used to get upset over sports forums too when I was little.  Then I grew up and realized life is too short.  Magic wasn't that good of a GM and maybe he was a bit of a victim of some weird ownership situation but he's a legend there and would still be there if he were that great.  And to suggest a GM be fired for ping pong ball results is worthy of being called out as not reasonable.

Magic Johnson had a good run as GENERAL MANAGER/PRESIDENT of the Lakers. You should research before you open your mouth so you don’t make yourself look ignorant & loud.

You fire him because Schlenk shouldn’t have gambled on the lottery in the first place and actually do his job. His job is to IMPROVE THE ROSTER.

I put emphasis to help you understand since you seem to have difficulty understanding the basics and would rather throw lame ass accusations and result to name calling.

Sorry.  I didn't mean to get you all butthurt.  You can beg for him and want people fired people for lottery results.  That's cool.

I think if we fall out of the top 2, Carey Jr or Stewart might be good additions for this team. We need big boys that can play.

Full disclosure I'm not up to speed on anybody besides Edwards and Wiseman as they're the 2 most heralded heading into this draft.  But these guys you mention would have to be close to sure things for me to feel good about bringing in more projects at this point.  We need a plug and play guy that is a consensus immediate heavy contributer like the 2 aforementioned guys almost certainly will be or use the pick to get an established star player.

  8. If we get a top 2 pick, I'm all for keeping it for the two main guys...assuming of course someone else doesn't come from out of nowhere to make a legit claim for the 1st or 2nd pick.  3rd or higher we use it in a trade for an established player.  I still believe in Hunter but I don't want another pick like him with a top 5 pick.  I'd like to think we're a little more poised towards building a contender than staying put for another non-sure thing lottery pick.

He's been terrible at every single facet of the game with his numbers falling off a cliff straight into the abyss the year after his first big payday. He wouldn't be the first player to take it easy after cashing in.

Correlation doesn't equal causation.  I didn't really get to know him through interviews or anything like that when he was here so I don't really have a gauge on the guy's attitutde.  You could be right but I think he deserves a little more credit than to be painted as a guy who would has definitely done what you say he has....cashed in and quit.

Overly pessimistic analysis there, Vawl. Dark grey colored glasses for sure 🤔

30 wins? Hawks were 2 seconds from winning 30 games LAST year. El-P, Ice TrATL, The Huert, J-Bap, and Oleksiy will all naturally continue to improve simply due to growth and experience. Added The Hunt to replace Fresh Printz and Code Reddish essentially replaces Gaze, both net positives. Len (still improving at age 25) was better than Dedmon (peaked at age 30) last year and will be getting his 25+ minutes starting. Yet Hawks will still just equal last year? 41 wins...

ZERO defense? The Hunt was the best defender in the draft and better defender than Printz, who he replaces. Reddish is 6’9 with a 7’1 wingspan and will be a better defender than Gaze, who he replaces. FeeNANdoooo was drafted for his tenacious D (11reb/2blk). DJ is a springy rim protector and essentially replaces Cal’Omari/Dedmon, a defensive net positive. D definitely needed to get more tenacious, and it has. Improves to almost average...

Trae and Collins on offense but not much else? Huerter’s 3-ball on line 1. Crabbe’s 3-ball on line 2. Hunter’s 3-ball on line 3. Len’s 16/8/1 plus 3-ball on line 4. Ooop City on line 5. Top half offense in the league...

Really struggle most of the season? Given, extremely rough schedule until all-star break. Trae/Huert/Hunt/Collins/Len are gonna sneak up on some teams, Trae/Huert/Cam/Hunt/Collins are gonna shock some other teams and blow them out of the gym. True, still young, still learning, not there yet, will be growing pains. .500 ball...

Allow yourself to enjoy this season, Vawl. It’s gonna be very fun to watch 👏🏽

    Who are "EI-P and Oleksiy?"

Jrue would not be considered as part of 'the young core'

I didn't read the thread from the beginning so I thought the disagreement was which team is better so my bad for that.  But I still think their young core is pretty damn good and any bust talk for the rookies on both sides is nonsense right now.
