  1. That's a bad example. The Bucks drafted Redd in the 2nd round after a great career at The Ohio State and due to him actually showing adequate talent and skill by his 2nd season as a key bench player that was part of the reason why they traded Ray Allen because it was hard to have two 6'5" shooting guards sharing the court at the same time and he was cheaper. Gerald Green has been on what 4 teams now? And he hasn't challenged lesser talent than we have on our roster despite being in the league for 4 years already. Stromile.................well we will leave it at that but expecting these guys to be better than bottom of the barrel role players is a little far fetched. Green could maybe have a Jamario Moon type career if he can just get that athleticism to translate to his defense but as far as him being a replacement for Joe or challenging Marvin........ it's just not going to happen no matter how long he spends in our system.

How long was Tracy McGrady in the league before he really took off in Orlando. What about Jermaine Oneal after going to the Pacers from staying on the bench for the blazers. What about Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant who have been with the same team for most of their careers. Point is players coming straight out of high school (with Lebron being one of the lone exceptions) take time to develop. If teams do not allow you the chance to develop you may take a little more time but the lucky teams that pick you up when you are ready to blossom (Orlando/McGrady ,Indiana/Oneal) get rewarded. We see the potential in a current high school draftee of our own in Josh Smith and we also understand he has a long way to go to reach his greatest potential. Potential is the key word and Gerald Green at 23 still has plenty of it and might vibe with peers his age that are excelling (Al Horford, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith who is a former slam dunk champ him self trying to prove he is a baller and not just an athlete). Maybe I'm a little too optimistic about Gerald Green being able to excel being around peers his age and that have traveled a similar but had a more successful path than one of his own but you never know.

  2. We've all said that Green would be a welcomed addition here before but Swift is so useless that I'm just gonna stop talking about him right..................................................................................................................................

Ok back to Green, he's not going to challenge ANYONE for pt. He scores and thats about it, he really doesn't do that that well but he would be good coming off the bench. To say that he would challenge marvin for ANYTHING is ust plain crazy :nono: I mean anyone can look good on a highlite tape but he doesn't bring a whole lot to a team besides athleticism which we already have plenty of. But like i said he would be welcome as a role player

I meant challenging JJ/Marvin after developing with the team/system. Of course he would be on the bench for now and so would Stromile but if certain injuries were to occur or JJ decides to go test the waters else where, we would have insurance. Example Bucks Ray Allen having a guy come off the bench for him by the name of Michael Redd. When Ray Allen left there was no major drop off talent wise.

  3. But, he has been accountable. Joe has never had any public issues come out as to date. Nothing. So what if he speaks slang on twitter and says he has some pretty foolish bets. He's done nothing, but be a model citizen his entire professional life. But, now because he is showing a little personality he gets the wagging finger from all of you? Shaq has said much worse. Dwight Howard has even had a few hiccups. Let Joe be.

My thoughts exactly. People idolize a little too much when they see an entertainer or someone with money not realizing they are people too and nobodies perfect.

  4. Our Atlanta Hawks are as fine tuned as I seen in years and I been with the Hawks since Dominique days. I've seen the promises of Priest Lauderdale, Willie Burton's, Ed Gray's. I was there for the Mookie Blaylock,Steve Smith,Christian Laetner(forgot spelling),Al Henderson, Dikembe Mutombo, Chris Crawford, Tyron Corbin, Stacy Augmon days. I was there for the Jr. Rider, Jim Jackson and company days. I was there for the Jason Terry, Stephen Jackson, Glenn Robinson, Shareef Abdul Rahim, Theo Ratliff days. The Toni Kukok's, Bob Sura's, Joel Prizbilla's. The Al Harrington/Antione Walker, Tony Delks and so on.

Maybe a Smith or 2 and a Al is exactly what we need to win a title with the right help. This is the most exciting and young Hawks team I have seen since my tenure and they truly have the ability to get over the top. They can have the best off season in history (if not already)with 2 more quiet but impacting moves. Basketball is a game f skills and athletics. We already punish teams most nights with our athleticism and our skills are progressing steady as the years past. Add another young athletic sg/sf and you become that much more deadlier(Gerald Green). At worst he does not learn how to be as disciplined as his 23 year old peers and becomes more of a rental or trade commodity. At best he could be pushing Joe Johnson to the bench/trade block to have a more reserve role as age becomes a factor (He could also challenge Marvin's spot). Even if he was a horrible locker room guy it would not have a big enough effect on the locker room because he is not yet a vital piece.

    Gerald Green

Same goes for Stromile Swift. Josh and Al could be much more productive if they had another shot blocker on the floor with them and that would benefit Joe Smith and Zaza As well. On offense they would also be a good fit While Joe,Zaza,Al,Josh are settling for the jump shot Stromile can still be an inside rebounding presence. If Josh Smith/Al Horford had to guard a Rasheed Wallace, Dirk Nowitski, Charlie Villanueva, Rashard Lewis or someone with their height/skills they would feel more comfortable playing good man to man defense knowing they had someone to watch their backs and defend the post. Alot of people talk about Josh's man defense but he has not had a Dikembe Mutombo or a Theo Ratliff to have his back.

    Stromile Swift

  5. So what are we looking at for the other 3 potential roster spots? I'd say West is the most likely and then two of Hunter, Korolev, and Siler with Siler probably being the odd man out unless we terminate Morris which seems unlikely.

I'd prefer the last three to be West or Carney(lockdown defender. Carney can also shoot/West hometown kid still improving/cheaper).

Gerald Green or Othello Hunter. If we get Carney, Green might be redundant but green can shoot lights out like what you would want from Korolev and can also a great enough athlete to finish consistently at the rim.

Stromile Swift or Garret Siler (again Siler might be redundant if we get Collins). Stromile Swift is also an athletic phenom and if we want him there is no need for Othello. He can block shots,rebound(offensively/defensively)like nobodies business. He would definitely put pressure on the other bigs to defend. He can match up with any of our second tier bigs Zaza, Joe and even provide a stronger first string line up if Marvin/Joe were unable to play/perform and allow Horford to slide down to power forward and Josh to small forward for a big/quick defensive line up.

All in all a lineup of

    Mike Bibby/Jeff Teague/Jamal Crawford

    Joe Johnson/Jamal Crawford/Mario West/Gerald Green

    Marvin Williams/Maurice Evans/Gerald Green/Josh Smith

    Josh Smith/Joe Smith/Stromile Swift/Al Horford

    Al Horford/Zaza Pachulia/Jason Collins/Randolph Morris/Stromile Swift

Would give us unlimited versatility at every position able to withstand injuries and other complications of an 82 game season.

  6. WHY NOT GET: Gerald Green can be a bargain for a year or more. At best he maybe able to be Joe's replacement if we can't afford Joe. At worst he would sit on the bench or maybe become a commodity to a team that wants a player of his ability. Either Gerald becomes good enough to man the position or Jamal Crawford could give you a similar option with Gerald/Marvin coming off the bench. If he works well within our core and starts to blossom into a true star, great!! I see one if not more of our budding young stars having a true break out season(Josh Smith, Al Horford, Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague, I know it's a reach but maybe Solo could have one in his own right specially if he gets more playing time (he's been in Woody's system for a while now) and develops his game and strength more in the summer. So it would be perfect timing.

WHY NOT: Gerald Green is another athletic guard/forward that is young but placed around other young vets that are emerging stars Joe Johnson(former Celtic Pick),Josh Smith, Al Horford, Marvin Williams, Jamal Crawford, maybe (Josh Childress) will have the opportunity to finally get it. If Woodson's defensive system started sticking in with Green and all our athletic players start having fun with their abilities on the offense and defensive end we can be one of the most unique elite teams in the league. Imagine a defensive scheme to where everyone is responsible for chasing down their man and getting the blocked shot. Jeff Teague can do it, Gerald Green, Josh Smith and Al Horford. Add a Chris Wilcox/Theo Ratliff or both (of course Theo may not be able to chase anyone down but can still block shots on a set defense) and you have the best open court offense/defense in the league. Josh Smith and Gerald Green are two of the most gifted young athletes in the nba(AND YEAH THEY COME IN HANDY).

WHY ASK WHY: All of our young players will continue to get better with none of them being no where near their ceiling right now. Even right now Gerald Green can give you another athletic player to run the wings and catch alleys and another 3 point shooter. An extra scorer on our line up is a plus but add an increasing will/want to play defense with Gerald Green playing with other athletically gifted players that are committed to playing defense(kinda of like Lebron started doing). Again imagine Jeff Teague running down points along with Josh Smith or Al Horford to block shots on fast breaks. Add our forwards/center running down their forwards/centers. Defense starts becoming fun and everybody's excited to make the next defensive play. No shots will be uncontested whether fast breaks or half court defense(This is if we also included a Ratliff and/or Wilcox) because:

1.)Teague has a long wing span(kinda like Rondo)and came from the same system as Chris Paul (who is a pretty good defender).

2.)Jamal Crawford is big specially when guarding the point and Green is a long two(Tracy McGrady length and abilities).

3.)Joe Johnson, Evans, West, Flip if we keep'em, maybe Childress can man the two and hold their own on the three.

4.)Marvin Williams is an underrated defender.

5.)Josh Smith can be one of the greatest defenders once he puts it all together (Blocks, Steals, Alterations and Intimidation) he can be an automatic game changer whenever he is on the court(Once he perfects his jumper and adds a good off the dribble shot to his offensive game).

p.s. fans don't stop/limit his shooting abilities encourage him to get better. Why not be as much of a weapon as possible. A good example of that would be Lebron James.

6.)Al Horford is a good defender/shot blocker, Solomon Jones can block shots if we keep'em, ? Randolph, Theo Ratliff/Chris Wilcox are good defenders if we get them(Hopefully Mark Price helps them with their jump shot).

Our weakest link would be Bibby (if we keep him). And even he can frustrate the offense at times with reaching hands and get a couple steals. With him being committed to defense and having everybody else mentioned above get his back and their owns we would eventually have a Championship caliber defensive team. With defense leading to offense we can eventually become Champions.

  7. Can't believe Detroit blew all that cap on Ben and CV. I thought the whole purpose of freeing up that space was so they could take on a max deal from a superstar. Ahwell I guess it remains to be seen what they do with Rip and Tayshaun for 2010.

THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEIR HOPING: That either 1 or both of them become the stars (with them having the green light) and both having the potential to be allstars. Prince (on a contract year) can step into a bigger leadership role along with Rip. Stuckey can definitely be their allstar as well and their main core is pretty young.

  8. Josh is 23 getting paid almost near half of what Rashard Lewis is getting paid. Is a better defender and athelete who has more heart and love for the game then most people with his skill set/abilities. Turn his anger from bad calls and plays into fire and dominance on Defense and Offense. This is the same kid that got 10 blocks in one year his rookie game (people were overwhelmed then by his abilities and people are overwhelmed now. His flaws are easily fixable. As far as a jump shot all he needs is more practice, focus and confidence. Free throws = ditto it was a time where he was making those easily. Dribbling( How many guys have u seen that size that can move and dribble like him).Decision making comes with experience. What is he truly lacking that would make him such a liability to the team.

Most players that came out of high school took at least four years or the right situation (coach etc.) to even establish themselves. Tracy McGrady, Jermaine Oneal, Kobe was not a phenom when he first got in and even Garnett needed some time to develop, Dwight's great but he still is not where he will be). I'm saying all this to say that I've been a Hawks fan since Dominique and even after the trade I still supported the Hawks through the Willie Burton's, Ed Gray's, Priest Lauderdale's, I loved our team when we had five good starters in Mookie Blaylock, Steve Smith, Christain Laetner(sorry forgot how to spell his name) Grant Long/Alan Henderson, and Dikembe Mutombo. I believed in our team when we had Jason Terry, Stephen Jackson, Glen Robinson, Shareef Abdul Rahim, and Theo Ratliff. Teams like this go to show that if the person pulling the strings(coach) Does not have the correct mindset to get the best out of there team then maybe that person needs to be the one shown the door.

Woodson is an evil genious who I believe has the ability to take this team to the next level but not while being as stubborn as the players he pisses off. I’ve seen Salim score an easy 30 on Chris Paul and the Hornets during their rookie year on a game that would have been a blow out for the Hornets against us and instead of honing in on the good and using Salim's talents to our advantage while teaching him the right way he simply let him rot on the bench and lose his confidence. We can't afford to let all this young talent go to waste.

I've said it before I been a Hawks fan since the Dominique era but have not had another favorite player on the Hawks until Josh Smith came along. He reminds me of a future Dominique (I'm talking about a guy that battled against Jordan and Bird gracefully) but better defensively and could also be a better all around offensive player. Who do we have now in the likes of this league that can battle a Lebron turn around and guard Chris Paul and then show signs of dominance against the same likes of Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire. It took me a while to have a favorite player on the Hawks again( Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Baron Davis, versatile players with size like Lamar Odom, Charlie Villanueva, Rudy Gay and Rashard Lewis before they were anybody I saw the potential and truthfully none of them besides Kevin to me reached their potential but it is/was there).

We are teased with the second coming of one of our greatest players and if we make the same mistake twice for the first time in my life I might end up faithfully following another team. I planned to buy my season tickets now but I might just have to hold off until the off season fiasco clears up. Our core is spectacular like it is keep Marvin get Chills back(people’s biggest complaint of him at the time was that he would be better suited for a play off team hint!! hint!!). Add a center if we can't keep Zaza for instance BJ Mullen (Chris Anderson offensively and maybe defensively) or a defensive 7 footer(tall cheap 6'11)Charlie Villanueva who can spread the floor and learn to be consistent force with guys his age and skillset to compete with.Let Law let loose with Bibby mentoring. Definitely keep Flip U CAN'T TEACH HEART/CONFIDENCE which is another reason to keep JOSH SMITH turn that heart into focus and watch what u get. Keep SOLO and allow him to become a real part of the team(U can't teach size and athleticism). Horford is a keeper as well as Joe(Less Minutes). Who cares if you get a legitimate center and Marvin has to come off the bench. I do not think Marvin would mind comin off with Chills,Flip, Bibby/Law/filler(maybe Sessions/Chambers type) and a more productive Solo/Zaza/Mullen/Villanueva it wouldn't hurt to keep "Trevor Ariza" I mean Mario West either. This team will have very high value can be assessed after next year. Either they push it to the limits which will be easier for a young team to do with all of the chemistry most of them already have. And If it does not work out whether it be via coach or players you have enough assets on your team to where you can trade three for a superstar if we haven't found out that we may already have just that in a Joe, Marvin, Horford, Chills, Smith, Charlie, Bj, Law, Bibby, Solo, West, Murray, and whoever else whether Evans, Gardner, Hunter, Pachulia, Morris, or new cast of reserves.

All in all you don't get rid of a potential superstar that's getting paid less than 60 million. Hornets traded Kobe they just now got a Chris Paul. Magic traded Shaq/Tracy they finally got a Dwight. Milwakee traded Dirk they had a Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson, Sam Cassell, Vin Baker they still haven't redeemed themselves. We finally are getting some respectability and were talking about a trade that can be the start of another blow up on the team and for who? Smith has shown on plenty occassions owning the 2 players we covet in getting right now in Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudamire. Looking at film is a good way to replenish the memory.

With a team like the team we have and our future being as bright as it could be I know one thing Billy Knight is not at fault and if Sund is smart he will ride his co tail. Sure he passed up on potential stars and Hall of Famers but all of that was needed to see the team we see today with Horford and Law being the final pieces. An example would be the Cavaliers for as great as Lebron is he is not able to do it alone for it IS a TEAM sport and because he is so talented it's hard to get the pieces he needs around him reasonably. We have great pieces and Josh because of his physical abilties alone is an irreplaceable piece especially at his price. So whats the decision? Give up on an up and coming team that if stayed together would be great in our lifetime and would only need a Spurs quick fix here and there to stay on top. Or let's trade for a one time contender giving up our young talented core (like Miami Shaq and Wade)just to have to restart all over again anyway and becoming distant memories once again.

  9. Amare has issues but he is a legit star and i would trade Smith for him in a heartbeat. We would still need a defensive center to play with him but we need that anyway.

JOSH SMITH is going to make yall eat your words. All we need is Josh Childress, a legit 7 footer that can rebound is atheletic and has a low post game(ex.BJ Mullen),and to develop Law. Also keep JJ,Al Horford, Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Flip Murray, Zaza Pachulia, Solomon Jones, Mo Evans, Mario West (unless we can get Rudy Gay & Javoris Crittenton/Marc Gasol or Dwight Howard to pair with Josh Smith & Marvin Williams & maybe Randolph Morris). I'd think about keepin Othello Hunter & Thomas Gardner but that depends on our options.

I'm sayin this to say dat Billy Knight has created a monstrous young team dat is no where near it's peak(Josh Smith can develop a jump shot stand still and off da dribble and recommit to his hustle plays rebounds and defensive blocks, Marvin Williams can tone his skills and hav more of a leadership role with more confidence,Al Horford can continue becomin da beast we want so bad in Amare Stoudamire, JJ can always find a way to be productive and can work on his on & off da ball defense, Mike Bibby can become da coach on da floor and keep his shot consistent, Mario West can fill a Trevor Ariza type role with more defense and less offense,Solomon Jones can be a poor man's Josh Smith on Defense & Low Post scoring reboundin but will stay inside more like most would want Josh Smith to do, Flip can be Flip & Zaza can be Zaza(da one dat plays with fire) Acie Law can become dat offensive threat he was in college & work on gettin quicker hands on defense, Mo can work on being more aggressive on offense & defense and Josh Childress can fill in da blanks. He is a handy player dat can be da number 2 or 3 option or can be da 6th man).

Mike Woodson is not goin to play a young player who he does not feel like is ready to fit his system so unless we are willing to take a big gamble I would keep this core in take includin da young players who Woodson rarely plays because da more they develop with him and his concepts the better they will be in his system in latter years. Woodson is an evil genious but is stubborn. Place a new core in roles dat Acie Law , Solomon Jones, Randolph Morris could/would play and we will get da same results so why not keep our young guys until they and Woody can see eye to eye.

With Flip Murray, Josh Childress, Mo Evans, Zaza Pachulia, Law/Bibby competing for 6th man and people like Solo and Mario to look towards dats a deep & deadly bench. All in all BK has set da path for a great young successful NBA team and da challenge for our new GM "Rick Sund" is to hav faith in the gift he was left and help/let it develop. I'd be scared as an opposing team to hav to face this Hawks team in a few years if it stays in tack & continues to develop.

Anxious to see Larry Drew? Take a look at the Thrashers... sticking with an "internal coach" for the remainder of the season. Given the ownership situation, what credible coaching candidate would come here, only to potentially be fired the day after Belkin wins (if that happens)?

That is basically the story so far on Woody. There was talk internally of giving him until the first of December or right after Thanksgiving. But the same problems remain: AS does not want to pay him to stay home if they fire him and most importantly they aren't going to spend the $$$ to bring in a real credible head coach like a Fratello.

One of my sources told me that Rick Adelman's agent twice contacted Knight about a possible job. And both times the answer was no due to the ownership situation and Knight's inability to promise Adelman a stable front office and a stable job opp.

The Spirit believes it will eventually get rid of Belkin and hold the team. And when that time comes then they will pursue a serious coaching candidate. From what I have been told several times over the years is that Woodson is a cheap fix and if they fire him they will just plant one of the assistants as the head coach.

Unless the Spirit changes internally and is willing to spend some $$$ then we are stuck with Woodson or some other desperate-for-a-first-HC-job top NBA assistant coach hired to replace him.

    so in sum:

    Hawks have crap owners.

    Hawks have crap GM.

    Hawks have crap coach.

    Hawks have crap record.

The sure don't make it easy to be a fan of this team.

    Hawks have crappy fans.

LOL. Now that is the truth.I know it's hard after all the losing but be thankful for what we do have. A young talented team that can potentially be unstoppable for years to come(Unlike those quick fix teams ex.Miami). We are as bipolar as the team. Maybe the team feeds off of our consistency.

Young people need encouragement not people that are going to congratulate one day and try to execute them the next day. Wat if your parents taught u how to ride a bike that way or with any new challenge in life.

All I'm saying is everything is in motion and there will be bumps in the road but as along as we keep moving forward let's enjoy the ride. It's called progress and it's funny because a lot of our fans want know what to do with themselves once we hit that elite status because we are so use to being the underdogs and having something to complain about.

If we sign Eric Snow I'm done for the season..

Agreed if its one point guard I hated more than Lue its Eric Snow. He can't shoot, he's not athelic nor a runner/fast and Lue was labeled as a good defender after the Iverson ordeal.

  12. Like I've said before BK has been using his time and tenure here building patiently and quietly. Of course he would not pick a team full of all stars/superstars coming out of the draft because of ego issues, more pressure to be competitive early before the complete building of his squad and money issues(Same reason so many people are wondering if we can afford Smoove's extension.

The NBA is a business and the smartest business decisions might not seem like the best for now but for the future of your business. Yeah we could have Paul,Smith,Deng/Iguadala but when it came time for extensions who would we have to lose. Yeah they could be good trade bait but constant trades don't create good team chemistry.

By picking guys like Childress that can except being a bench player and Shelden who may seem to have a limited upside but can play a solid role for the team, we were understandably able to stay under the radar and continue adding more and more talent and solid peices.

Our team that everyone seems to love now and make less and less trade proposals for was all part of BK's plan. Now we can pay guys like Josh Smith the big money give Childress a reasonable contract and also have money to keep the rest of our talent when the time is needed.

If someone told us in the fourth year of BK's tenure we would have a team equal to the talent we have everyone would be in disbelief. Look at some of the comparisons that I players do or will compare to overtime.

    Law = Billups

    Salim = Eddie House/Law

J Johnson = less athletic McGrady

    J Chill = Prince/Pippen

J Smoove = Kirlenko/Marion (or our on Dominique)

    Marvin Williams = Rashard Lewis/Carmelo

    Shelden Williams = Boozer/Ben Wallace(more offensive)

    Al Horford = Amare/Boozer

Solomon Jones = Camby/ Lite Amare

So yeah I would have to agree that BK is a genius and to get a teacher like Woody is great for these young players production. Now Woody has to learn and continue making his teachings translate to stability and wins on the court. Now is the time for him to show that great resume that had us excited about him when he first came to the team.

  13. Do not let Woody fool you all!! He came here with an outstanding resume from an elite team(meaning he is not as dumb as he looks or might portray. He was the defensive mastermind behind the Pistons Championship run and was able to pick Larry Brown's brain at will).

I watched Woody on countless accounts purposely blow games experimenting(Biggest example when we were beating the Celtics down during Al Harrington's tenure and let them come all the way back with lay up drills because Woody "forgot that our best shot blocker then and now was on the bench").

I believe Woody spent his first three years here just experimenting and trying things out basically playing puppet master. With BK drafting pieces that were talented but gave Woody time for excuses(that he just didn't have enough to push this team over the top ex.)The need for a dominant inside presence and floor general)Believe me it's no coincidence that we got two of our main needs in the final rebuilding process year to complete our already deep and talented roster.

I've watched a lot of young players/rookies come into this league that are now vets and besides the obvious stars only a few actually panned out to there potential and for most it took awhile. Players like Jurmaine Oneal, Chauncey Billups, T-Mac, Gerald Wallace and even our very own Joe Johnson took awhile to develop or should I say show their development in this league.

One thing I have noticed with Woody even in his play around seasons is that he has pretty much helped develop all of the young players we have on this team to the point where every year we see significant improvement in our young stars even when we felt like they are close to their ceilings they continue to improve vastly.

Now that Woody's job is actually on the line I believe we are going to see some real coaching and all those wins we got in the past that may have seemed like fluke wins against good teams are going to soon become expected wins. Yeah it may seem like right now we still have some of the same old stagnant offense but remember old/bad habits are harder to break but easier to tweek/bend and as the season moves on this team should slowly show us what they are trying to become.

I applaud us the fans for being patient with Woody and I applaud Woody for fooling us all(fans, league, etc.)now show us what you were brought here to do and that was to coach an elite and unselfish team that can compete and beat anybody on any night/day.

Besides the other rumor was that BK stop talking when they insisted on 3, 11 and Marv. Can you imagine if Phoenix had Law/Horford and Marv and we had an injured gimp. We would all need crack.

    LOL

Let's all thank BK for being stubborn enough to stick to his plan even when his teams' fans and all star had/has complaints!!

So overall, BK didn't hit a homerun, but he didn't strike out either, and now we look like we're in pretty good shape. If it was his master plan all along to keep picking good but not great players until we had a team full of long athletic guys and plenty of depth - rather than a superstar or two - then maybe he is a genius. Who knows. Maybe he said we're going to stay in the lottery until we have enough talent, and that's why the owners were patient with him (sometimes I'd like to believe that).

All I know is I'm glad we have the team we have now and they're a pretty likable bunch - it's almost like we have a college all-star team playing in the NBA right now. And BK definitely deserves some credit for building what we've got, because he brought in every single one of these guys. We're long, athletic, and deep, and it's taken a lot of patience to get there, but it's also what you'd expect when you have the 6th, 17th, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, and 11th picks in the draft over the last couple years.

It was more than luck landing those draft picks.

It was Billy Knight who made the move to get the 11th pick

Just like it was BK who made the move to get the 17th pick to land Smoove.

It was BK who insisted that we give JJ the max deal. The Pachulia throw in with the Bucks trade.

Pretty much all these pieces are his doing and he deserves some freaking credit

Thank You all for the above quotes. It's funny now that a lot of people are finally starting to realize the genius mind that created the "playoff" Grizzly team.

When he came into office every body knew it would take time to build an elite team especially from scratch. BK used the start at the bottom knowing it was no where to go but up theory.

Thats why it was a no brainer for him to pick a slower developing player with superstar potential over talent that might be all stars now. Basically doing exactly what was stated above which is drafting all solid pieces(some that maybe developing slower than others)that are continuing to grow individually and collectively to create the start of the elite team we have today.

Great teams are great not just because of their great players but because everybody knows and plays key specific roles on the team to make them unstoppable. Kudos to Marvin for starting to step into his role.

Last year we almost accidently surpassed our plans and would have made it to the playoffs if JJ hadn't been out. This year is not going to be no accident. Yeah I'm a fan of Deron Williams and Chris Paul but I'm a fan of Marvin, this Hawks team and BK's philosophy as well.

Great point guards are key pieces to a great team but even great point guards such as Nash don't put as much fear in an opponents heart like a long lengthy skilled superstar such as Garnett,Kobe/McGrady,Amare,etc. and we have a team full of just those type of players that we can play at any position.

Now I'm not advocating sitting Salim on the bench after me makes back-to-back 3's like Woody did to him last year, but I do believe he has plenty of growing to do before we can ever THINK about him being an actual *NBA* Point Guard.

If Lue can be a NBA Point Guard Salim can be one. True Salim has plenty of growing to do but he is in his third year just like Marvin and it's about time he shows where he fits on this team.

Salim is a wilder version of Law but to have those two as a 1-2 punch one starting and one coming off the bench at the point guard position will make our team that much more unstoppable when everything is finally clicking.

BK knew what he was doing when he picked Marvin with the 2nd pick and Salim in the second round. Salim didn't exactly turn out to be exactly what they were looking for but BK knew what he planned on doing with his scheme of things and doubled up with Law. The same can be said with Sheldon and Horford.

We are almost to the point where there is going to be very little drop off when the bench comes in because we have so many similar and complimentary players.

I say Salim must be implemented more this year if we expect to continue growing as a team.

    Our future should be:

    Starters/Counterpart(Complimentary)

    Law/Salim

    Johnson/M. Williams

    Smith/Childress/Jones

    Horford/S. Williams/Pachulia

  17. We weren't scared when they ranked us in the 20's-30.

It's the first week or so of the power rankings and they are just giving us the spot we earned. If that opinion differs later it will show on the next power rankings.

Just like winning and losing is a habit for the teams the same can be said for the fans. We got to get in a habit of enjoying and supporting success!!

  18. Dats da beauty of dis team. If 1 or 3 players hav a bad game we got three more that can step it up at any time. Chills had a bad game and we still won. Shelden wasn't da best but he did wat he was out dere to do which is control the boards. There is a reason so many are excited about this team (Media,Fans etc.) when we only added two new pieces from last year. Dis is a perfect example of why BK forced us to hav patience and drafted da way he did seemingly missin out on clearly better players. We've been under da radar for awhile because of all these moves when dey all were key to gettin exactly at da point dat we are at now. Be proud!! be happy!! And be on da look out for da team we all rooted for dat gave us glimpses of hope. It's a new day just be ready to embrace it!!
