  1. Look. Joe is going to get $15 mil per. He and his agent are not worried about that. There are only two questions here. 1)Will he get it from the Hawks or some one else. 2)Are the Hawks crazy enough to think they can be competitive without him.
  2. You think we could have some discussions with him about the ATL?
  3. Wow. I had not thought of that. I wonder when is jury selection. I'd like to be on that jury. What about my emotional investment? Put the f'n mupetts away.
  4. I keep hearing announcers feed the rumor that Lebron might leave Cleveland for New York. I get the part about big market... It's the rest that does not add up. Does he have a chance of winning the championship there? Which brings me to the Hawks. I have to think that if Lebron came here he would have a better chance of winning a ring than he did with Cleveland or he would with New York. Thus the cap issue. I am assuming that would be the main stumbling block. However, Boston had KG, Paula, and Ray Allen, which are pretty hefty contracts. The Nuggets have: Billups, Mello, NeNe, and Kenyan Martin. Why would the Hawks not be in the running? We hear about the addition of Stoudemire. He's gonna get paid too. I know the Belkin issue would be a major dilema. However, if it involves Lebron, would it be a bad business decision to say listen, let's squash this never ending ridiculousness. No sale. No break up. Belkin stays a partner, but he has no more say than the others. I think it is clear that he simply does not want to not (double negative) be an NBA owner. Which he never will be after he relinquishes the Hawks. Wouldn't the Spirit have to consider this too? I know they are cash strapped but dude. I'm "cash strapped" too! If I were the owner and Lebron would even sniff at the notion of coming here, I would pay it. Beg, borrow, or steal. How could you not make that money back? Lebron alone is one thing, but the slew of championships would be an absolute mother load. Ticket prices would go through the roof, but somebody would pay it. We have a lot of stars in this city. I would love to see our front row stars compared to LA's. Cleveland?
  5. Wow! What the heck is this? So? Since Favre was a 2nd rounder we should be less outraged over his: Championship, MVP, overall post-season success? Different sport... So what? Ah... Yes... the national media was "very understanding" regarding the Sam Bowie/Michael Jordan issue which is... Kind of? Oh... I don't know... THE POINT! MAYBE? So there we have it. A Billy Knight hater that acknowledges that Billy Knight has taken more heat for drafting Marvin Williams over Chris Paul than Portland took for drafting Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. And, supposedly, it makes perfect sense. Oh and ahhh... "It's ok to take a chance on a 7 ftr." Really? Well, what if he is: 6'11.5", 6'11", or 6'10", or 6'9"... What exactly is the allowable threshold for passing over the greatest basketball player and one of the greatest/legendary athletes of all time? I guess it's pretty clear by now which cylinder isn't firing. Case closed! Great job Billy!
  6. "It was also during McHale's reign that the Timberwolves were punished by the NBA for making a secret deal with free agent forward Joe Smith to circumvent the league's salary cap rules. Before the 1998-1999 season, Smith agreed in secret to sign three one-year contracts with the Timberwolves for less than his market value. In return, Smith received a promise that the Timberwolves would give him a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract before the 2001-2002 season. In 2000, after word of the secret agreement got out, NBA commissioner David Stern voided Smith's final one-year contract with the Timberwolves, making Smith a free agent. Stern also took away three of the Timberwolves' next five first-round draft picks and fined the team $3.5 million. Smith signed with Detroit for one season, but came back to Minnesota before the 2001-2002 season as a free agent." Tell me again about the bright future that Kevin Mchale gave the Timberwolves? And you are a moderator? Some slight of hand. Great job Billy Knight! By the way... I guess, given this latest development, I would be remiss if I did not site outstanding character as another one of your attributes.
  7. :computer8: long... convoluted... no money shot... You should never multiply entities beyond necessity. A gm has done a good job if you have a good team with a good future. This is the definition of the Atlanta Hawks. Case closed. Great job Billy! I love this team! I love the outlook!
  8. I've tried to walk you through this. Get some sleep.
  9. OMG! Are you gonna be the standard of logical thought? We will start with the fact that the founder of this site has gone into detail regarding how pointless you and your viewpoints are but I will waste 30 seconds of my life to rebuke you just this once. You are assuming that Jefferson was the only way to aquire KG which is ludicrous. If other gm's didn't have enough talent on their roster to aquire KG given the circumstances that the Timberwolves were facing, I think that shows how poorly stocked their rosters were, which in and of itself is an indictment. In the end, the point is that you can go on and on when you blame a gm soley on who he did not get. KG and Ray Allen were available. The team that got them won a championship. The point I am making is that it is just as ridiculous to nit pick over this, as it is to nit pick over who got picked behind a particular player on draft night. Especially, given the fact that those players have not even won rings. Many of them have not even won a playoff series. For you to compare the John Nash situation to Billy Knighy is insane and not worthy of discussion as I have pointed out before. I wont waste my time researching Baylor, because I assume that argument is just as baseless. Nevertheless, it has also been pointed out that it is pointless to debate with you so I wont continue. Good luck with your "problems". Great Job Billy.
  10. ok. fine. Then should we ridicule all the General Managers that "passed up two players" named Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen the other year? As you will recall, they were available and Danny Ainge traded for them. They actually won a CHAMPIONSHIP! Basically, this ridiculous argument about focusing soley on which player a gm did not get is ludicrous, can go on and on with no end. And it is a standard that is only applied to BK, because it is the only avenue you have available to propagate your HATE.
  11. Exactly! Which raises serious questions. About a year ago, I put up a poll asking if Atlanta fans were more upset over the Chris Paul draft issue or the Brett Favre trade issue. The obvious reason being that nobody ever took the heat that BK took when it came to the Favre issue. Do you know it was overwhelmingly more "outrage" over the Chris Paul issue? Get this: 1)Chris Paul has never won a championship, Favre has. 2)Chris Paul has never won MVP, Favre has. 3)Chris Paul has never even won a playoff series (if I recall correctly)! Which leads me to one inescapable conclusion. This is about hate. Billy takes more heat over the Chris Paul "issue" than the Portland GM that drafted Sam Bouie over Michael Jordan who is the greatest player of all time! How do you explain this? HATE.
  12. Another deceptive analysis. "I didn't come here to lose basketball games, trust me when I tell you," Nash said at his introductory news conference in July 2003. But the Trail Blazers finished 41-41 in Nash's first season, snapping a streak of 21 consecutive playoff appearances. In 2004-05, the Trail Blazers had their first losing season since 1988-89. The fall to the bottom of the NBA was completed this season. "This season" meaning 21-61 in 2006 when they finally pulled the plug. If you really think this was the same standard applied to Billy you are not worth talking to. Billy's team went in a totally opposite and much more positive direction. Nash's team got desperately worse each year he was there! He got canned because his "team" was garbage.
  13. Name the General Managers judged according to the standard you have for Billy. Nobody has cited one case. Case closed. The Hawks are good! I'm loving it! Great job Billy. BTW. I will be certainly tracking every player that gets picked after every one of Sund's picks.
  14. Crazy. Billy's team got better every year. They made the playoffs last year and took the nba champs to game 7. They have a shot at 50 this year. They have: great talent, oustanding youth, good character, good cap health. Great job Billy!
  15. Billy's "wings" made the playoffs. Matt's receivers did not. Case closed. Great job Billy! I love your team!
  16. This guy is trying to pull a fast one! We will start with Steve Kerr. I peeped his "tenure". Under his "leadership". That team has gone from winning 61 games a couple of years ago to winning 37 games this year and STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS. And complicating it by firing a good coach. To suggest that this compares to Billy is nuts! Billy Knights team got BETTER ever year. Not worse. I think it is fair to say that Steve Kerr is being judged by the failure of his team. This is a totally different standard than what was applied to Billy. Great job Billy! I love your team!
  17. Hawks made the playoffs last year. Will make the playoffs this year with home court in the first round. Billy left the team better than he found it: talent, character, and cap! When is the last time Detroit Lions made the playoffs. Ridiculous comparison. Pure hate. Great job Billy!
  18. Are you serious? Are you talking about flawed logic? According to your logic, I could go into every draft, look at who Sund picks, and then analyze every player picked after that. If any of those players turn out to be better than the one Sund picked, then Sund is awful, irrespective of the quality of the team he assembles (talent, character, cap security). I think you should revisit your premise. BTW I noticed you have not named any GM judged according to the standard used to judge Billy Knight. Heckuva job Billy!!!
  19. What? Nice try dude! How bout explaining what happened on those teams! Which team and which year are you talking about with Kerr and the rest? Get real!
  20. That's right... Cant name one General Manager that was judged according to the same standard as Billy Knight! Lol! This was supposed to be an easy one. Great Job Billy! Your team looks awesome and has a future that is shining bright!
  21. Exactly as I thought. Cant name one. I garauntee we will see a million excuses but not one example of where a general manager was judged by something other than the team assembled. Case closed. Great job Billy! YOUR team looks great!
  22. I have seen the ridiculous comments about what Billy Knight should have done... "We could have had..." "We should have had..." I have never seen that standard applied to any other general manager. General managers in any other case are judged by the team they assemble. Right now, this team is the third youngest in the league (i have heard). No off the court garbage. No salary cap hell. And playoff bound with a promising future. But? Fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, if your opinions are to have any legitimacy, name the general managers that are judged by the players they "could have had" and not by the TEAM they assembled. Case closed. Good job Billy!
  23. Quote: He's not rebounding He's not playing defense That steal by Rondo was HIS lack of FOCUS!!! PULL IT THE F*CK TOGETHER OR LOSE BY 40!!! Woodson reigns them in or we're screwed.... Josh is embarasing! Everything we have pleaded with him not to do is standing out like a sore thumb. He looks like a child that does not know this is game 7.
  24. Buck Beleu handing off to Herschel? Give me an f'n break!
