What was the reasoning for signing Collins over Siler? I wasn't one of the ones who thought Siler was going to be great or anything, but I imagine Collins cost more and he appears to be incapable of pretty much anything.

Woody should sit in a box near the top of the arena like a defensive coordinator. Bibby can handle things on the court.
-
People who hate Woody will always hate Woody even when he basically improved us EVERY YEAR.
Giving him credit for the Hawks improvement over the last few years is like saying the Hawks should put me on the pay role because they've improved every year since I started regularly following them. It's a complete coincidence. What is one thing that Woody actually does well? He can't even handle foul trouble substitutions competently.

Good post Diesel.
And other posters can laugh all they want about your take on Marvin, but so far you've been dead on.
What exactly has he been "dead on" about? His posts usually focus on how he has secret knowledge that Marvin doesn't put in any work and is basically taking money from the organization.

I think JJ senses that this team can't take the next step and that's why he wants to leave.
If this team can't take the next step it pretty much falls at JJ's feet.

If the Hawks ownership were willing to pay the luxury tax maybe the team would have the TALENT to be a legit contender. I just don't see how anyone can think that its poor coaching for the fact that the Hawks aren't championship contenders.
I don't necessarily think a better coach would make us better than Orlando, but I think it would close the gap a little. I'm just tired of watching a Woodson-led team. He's an idiot.

Seriously?

He's no Larry Hughes, but Joe hasn't been impressing me this season. He's definitely not a max-contract type player in terms of actual on-the-court value.
-
This really is a good comparison. Collins won 47 games his last year with the Buills. Carlisle with the Pistons is another example.
-
These arguments that Woodson has "improved" every year and thus should be kept need to stop. Doug Collins won 47 games the year before he was replaced by Phil. Hopefully Sund does what he needs to do.

I didn't look at the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the thing that changed after the half was the Magic's shooting %.

You really think playing a lineup for Teague, Joe, Evans, Joe Smith and Collins was the way we were going to win that game tonight?
-
Our savior is Jeff Teague? ok.
-
Blame Woody and JJ. They told him to be in attack mode.
Joe's worse than Crwaford in that regard.
-
For a team that's capable of playing so well, the Hawks are also extremely capable of looking like a lottery team.
-
I'm as big a Woodson hater as anyone, but I haven't seen anything out of Teague that makes me think he deserves more than 10 minutes in a game.
-
This team will go as far as Josh Smith takes it. He didn't play that well against New Orleans and the team lost.
-
I don't even care about Woodson's player development. He's just a bad coach in terms of x's and o's and game management.

Acie is trade filler at this point.

Per 29 minutes
If Craw hadn't taken any 3 attempts to this point he would be shooting 55% from the field, yikes. He has been shooting 40% from the field his past 7 seasons, double yikes.
This kind of points to fg%'s uselessness as a basketball statistic. 33% from 3 = 50% from 2.

The quality of play on court is looking more and more like last years team. Yes. This team isn't going to have the best record in the NBA before long. This team will have the same basic situation as last year by the end of this year.
Are you as whiney in your daily life as you are on this board?

Funny thread.
Watching this game makes me wonder

I guess, but they could have always put him on the same D-League team he's playing on now, and no one else would have been able to sign him. I'm not convinced playing against a bunch of scrubs in the D-League is going to do much more than practicing with the Hawks on a regular basis, though.
