  1. Not to rain on JoshJoe's parade....but, haven't we seen this before. He plays inside for like 3-5 shoots lights out for 1-2 games then returns to Jack 'em Josh iso-dribbled-between-my-legs-knocked-ball-off-my-foot-Joe.

I guess only time will tell.

Haha true but with Dwill back, I think Joe will be more of a spot up shooter.

  2. NY is one Tyson Chandler injury away from being a 6 seed. Do not be fooled, Woody as a defensive coach + Chandler is what drives them. Subtract out Chandler and their team dynamic changes dramatically. I'm not afraid of NY. Chandler is 4 points a 1 rebound above his career averages right now and balances out many of the team's defensive errors. Chandler has played in every game this year. Last year they were 2 and 2 with Chandler out with the 2 wins coming during the last 2 games of the year in garbage time. If Chandler goes down at all, the Knicks are very mortal.

You make a good point, Drew knows how to adjust when a player goes down. Last year it was without Horford, this year it is without Joe and Marvin. I bet you that he can even make up for Josh going down, and that's primarily because he has good game plans coming into the game and knows what each player is good at.
  3. It wasn't like Josh was just chucking either. He tried really hard to take good shots, but he has no feel around the rim. Unless he is dunking or laying it up, he is going to be really inefficient. Horford on the other hand knows how to get in position for easy buckets. If Josh learns how to play off ball it will be good for him and the team.

  4. Josh just has no offensive game, and we don't have the offensive options to get the best out of him. Horford and Teague are more efficient on the offensive end, and Drew seems to like spot up shooters like Korver. I think the best for both Josh and the team is to trade him. He doesn't really flow with the team, and if we can get back a defensive center for Josh, I am all for it.

  5. I wonder that too but i think Pierce is just a better ball handler and really a better shooter with a hand in his face. In Joe's defense his demeanor and strength keeps him from getting foul calls. Cry like a baby, have your teammates carry you off the floor once in a while and maybe you'll get more calls.

Also, whenever Joe manages to get inside the paint, he puts up a soft floater. It can be very effective at times but a layup is more guaranteed. He needs to add a euro step or something to his game that can help him get that extra momentum for an easy layup. Even if he misses the layup, he might get fouled in the process. If the Nets would just have him coming off a screen and cut to the basket, his efficiency and ppg would rise.
  6. Huge Joe Johnson fan, but it's hard to watch him nowadays. Can barely get past his defender, getting worse as a defender, can't really get to the free throw line aside from end of the game freethrows, and his isolation plays aren't effective anymore. Once BKN get's better scoring options, Joe will be a 20 million dollar three point shooter. Kinda sad to watch knowing that he had ALOT of potential. 6'8, good body, decent quickness. Just doesn't know how to get to the basket/line when he needs to. On a side note, when I look at Paul Pierce I always wonder how he manages to get to the rim but JJ can't.

  7. We can win games without Horford, that has been proven last year. No reason to overreact, we have known from the beginning that this roster is very mediocre and it is just a stop gap year for us. I expect us to hover around .500 all year.

We had Joe last year. We don't have his caliber of player this year so Horf being out effects us even more.
  8. His jump shot is still terrible and are bricks...if he would stay near the basket he would avg around 20 and his FG% would be above .500. He shot something like 4 - 14 after his initial start to the game.

the problem with Josh is that he wouldn't avg 20 ppg as the primary option near the basket. He is no where skilled enough. People think Josh can be a 20 10 player, but that's not the case.
  9. The will be Joe's best "season" in his career now that he has left Atlanta. Not really, but I can see it coming from some peoples mouth at some point during this season. Posted Image

Well, he is going to be playing a different role in Brooklyn. He won't be the primary scoring option or ball handler so his FG% should improve. However, since he is playing with Brook Lopez and Kris Humpries, his rebounding numbers will probably decline. HIs assists should improve by 1 or 2.

    I'm looking at maybe 17-19 ppg, 45-47 FG%, 5-6 apg, 3-4 rpg, 1 spg, and .5 bpg.

Not superstar numbers, but should be consistant and more efficient.

  10. I didn't see the game but this is what LD said about Lou Williams:

Jeff Teague started at point guard, but coach Larry Drew used Williams at the position for much of his time in the game. Williams hit 5 of 6 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. The Hawks collectively shot 38.1 percent (8 of 21) from beyond the arc.

“I was very happy with the way he led the team,” Drew said. “He was a point for us tonight. In the past he’s played a lot off the ball where he’s been predominately a scorer. He’s been playing some point guard through training camp and I wanted to use him in that capacity tonight. He was aggressive when he had to be. He got us into an offense when we needed to be. I was extremely, extremely happy with how well he defended.”

What is LD doing? Lou is not a PG - I hope he is going to force feed him to be a PG like he did with Jamal.

Larry is starting to get on my nerves.
