  2. Joe only took like 15.5 shots per game last year and he averaged 18.8 points, give him 1 or 2 more shots and he will easily crack 20. That's 20 points on 16 or 17 shots, not terribly efficient but 20 either way you look at it. So to answer the question, yes he can crack 20 EASILY, but whether or not it will maintain his efficiency or increase it is the question. Like Benny mentioned, averaging 20 efficiently while getting to the freethrow line only 4 times a game is very hard to do in this league. If the nets find out a way to get Joe to the free throw line more then his chances of increasing his efficiency increases. If there is one thing Joe excells at, it's his scoring, and with Deron in the mix Joe could score more because he and Deron will get most of the Net's shot attempts.

  3. 30 v. Korea and 22 v. Russia. Not 13 or 16, you are starting to act like Mr. Meltdown. That's not cool at all. Al really doesn't disappear, he just doesn't get the ball in favorable positions or teams force your PG to pass the ball the other direction. This is something that happened with Teague in the Chicago series. They baited him to only pass it to Smith and he could pass it to Joe or Jamal but they would be doubled. If we had a real PG, that would never happen but whatever. Disappear is when you are getting the ball and you are doing nothing with it and getting a lot of usage and you aren't helping your team by doing the necessary things to win. Horford backs down from centers? Like which one? Dwight is the only one I can recall that happening too and he really never backed down, he just couldn't guard him period. It's clear you aren't going to open your horizon on this. You seem to be head-strong to this like Hots is. It's cool, we got the PnR PG now, so I know he can finally prove it. I am actually hyped for this upcoming season. Harris-Horford tandem should be one of the best in the NBA. 26ppg isn't that much if he gets the FGA and we raise our pace which should happen. No reason for us not to. Projections: Harris (20ppg) Teague (14ppg) Morrow (11 ppg) Jenkins (8ppg) Smith (16 ppg) Stevenson (6ppg) Horford(26ppg) Ivan (7ppg) Scott(4ppg) Zaza(10ppg) Petro (4ppg)

so youre saying we are going to average around 120 ppg?
  4. Sigh. http://www.freakonom...d-in-the-nba-2/ Basically, if you want to pretty much ensure that you won't be good for a while, tank. It's a lot easier to go from a pretty good team to an excellent team than it is to go from a very bad team to an excellent team. Even the data shows that over a 4 year period, bad teams don't become excellent teams just because they are picking high in the draft. What the Hawks have done is effectivley remodel the team around Al Horford and Josh Smith at this point, created ample amounts of financial flexibility by moving Joe's contract, and as a result, have likely only decreased their projected win total by no more than 5 wins, if that. I am working on a project right now to project the Hawks record based on win shares, and while I still have some work to do on the numbers, I'm coming up with 48.75 wins for the Hawks. The Hawks would have won 50 games over an 82 game schedule last year. If this bears out, it is a net loss of only 1.25 wins. If the Hawks do sign Courtney Lee though, that may push them over the 50 win mark in 2012-2013.

Win shares.....hmmmm I'm looking at basketball reference, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Joe and Josh have similar win shares?
  5. With the Farmar buyout, we currently sit at 12 players (assuming Ivan and picks are in the stable) at about 56 million. Assuming a trade of Horford, Harris, Petro Houston's first rounder and filler or Zaza, Teague, Horford, other and the first rounder we can technically squeeze it in. Currently Orlando is way, way over the LT and so invoking the 150% rule to take back extra salary from them is doing them a huge favor...meanwhile, we have 14 million under the LT (give or take).Horford, Harris, Petro, + 1st forHoward, Hedo is doable. We line upTeague / fillerJenkins/MorrowHedu/StevensonJosh/Ivan/ScottDwight/ZazaAnd Lebron, Wade, Bosh are collectively found cursing, wallowing in a bar.

Our floor spacing is going to be horrible, I don't want to rely on Josh to spread the floor, and I don't even want to rely on an unproven rookie to be our go to perimeter shooter. We all know Teague is not a dead eye shooter yet. If you guys hate Joe's style of play just wait until you see Hedo's.
  6. I don't want CP3 on this team. The guy is overrated as a player. He is small for his size and relies on his quickness to find people and score. With his injury history and his lack of getting his team past the second round I don't want him on this team.

  7. You shouldn't regret it Supporter if Squawkers dont agree with you. Billy Knight set this franchise back years by deciding to make that JJ deal we got lucky to get that #3 pick and Horford god only knows where we would be if we hadnt had favorable lottery balls. This team SUCKED before horford came aboard and I don't think we owe Joe Johnson ANYTHING. I'm just floored New Jersey took our mistake.

The only reason I created this thread is because Hollinger tweeted that #2 should be hung up on the rafter, I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not but I wanted to here other people's opinions.
  8. I personally don't see how he doesn't belong there. The guy came here when we were a 13 win team. As a Hawk he was on Team USA, a 6 time all star, All NBA, and also had numerous player of the week and player of the month awards. He put up alot of stats through his tenure here. Sure the playoffs disasters taint his resume, but I think he belongs up there.

  9. As much as I hate seeing Joe go, Ferry was a damn genius. No one and I mean absolutely NO ONE thought that we could get rid of Joe's contract much less both Marvin's and Joe's. Yeh it's going to be said in Hawksville for a while but I'm pretty sure we are going to do great things in the future. I just wish Joe could be a part of this but hey, nobody said this was supposed to be easy ;)
