  1. Teague is a joke. Awful game. Even Steve Holman was overstating how poorly Teague played. You know Steve always calls an honest and great game. Teague is forcing pacing and taking bad shots. He has no defense and is just not the same product he was earlier I. The year or in the bulls playoff series. It really is a shame. I wanted Teague to excel. Just don't think he will ever be a consistent PG.

  2. Lou had a good game as far as setting guys up but he is not a pg. Have you not been watching Lou lately? He has been terrible. Im glad he had a solid game last night but lets not go overboard here

Lou is still bothered from his injury. He came back early and has not been playing well. He is not explosive and is missing shots. Yet, if he is passing better and making better plays then you go with him. It doesn't matter if he is SG, you play who's hot and who is making the better decisions. Teague looks lost in this system. He hasn't been able to get that lob shot down for years. He's pressing the ball up the court in efforts to get some quick points. However he is not converting.
  3. Another awful performance by Teague last night. Horrible shooting from the field and no play making. Lou had a strong game. Wonder if Bud would consider starting lou at PG. He is actually making plays and has better court vision than Teague. What's the status of Teague eligibility for a trade? I thought I read somewhere that the Hawks cannot trade him because they matched his contract this off season. Is that true?

  4. This seems like a good time to post a list of NBA free agents. There are A LOT of notable players still available:

Here is a position-by-position list of the notable NBA free agents who are currently available.

POINT GUARD: Rodrigue Beaubois, Jamaal Tinsley, Keyon Dooling, Chris Duhon, Mike James, Royal Ivey, Malcolm Lee, Josh Selby, Scott Machado, Chris Smith

SHOOTING GUARD: Shannon Brown, Richard Hamilton, Daniel Gibson, DeShawn Stevenson, Marquis Daniels, Jerry Stackhouse, Joey Graham, Josh Childress, Xavier Silas, DeAndre Liggins, Kelenna Azubuike

SMALL FORWARD: Josh Howard, Mickael Pietrus, Corey Maggette, Stephen Jackson, Shawne Williams, Hedo Turkoglu, Reggie Williams, Dahntay Jones, Lance Thomas, DeQuan Jones, Sasha Pavlovic, Devin Ebanks, Gary Forbes, Quentin Richardson, Lazar Hayward, Kris Joseph

POWER FORWARD: Tyrus Thomas, Lamar Odom, Chris Wilcox, Drew Goodon, Kurt Thomas, Troy Murphy, Renaldo Balkman, Royce White, Dominic McGuire, Willie Reed, Brian Cook

Does anybody peak you interest for the Hawks?

    This is funny;

CENTER: Andrew Bynum, Marcus Camby, Jason Collins (former Hawk), Lou Amundson, Solomon Jones (former Hawk), DeSagana Diop, Kwame Brown (former Hawk), Hilton Armstrong (former Hawk), Fab Melo, Joel Pryzbilla, Melvin Ely, Dexter Pittman

  5. They didn't save that much by releasing him. The roster spot is far more valuable, assuming we use it. Hopefully we've applied for the disabled player exception and will be able to use that to sign someone of quality.

Thought the Hawks did apply for DPE on Horford? I will be very mad if a good move, not signing some BS D League player, isnt made after cutting C Mart. I thought he did well and didn't get a fair chance.

  6. They need to be dumping Noah on us for Lou and Brand! That would clear $11 million in salary in 2 years and almost $6 million for next year.

Haha just posted this. i also want Noah. He is such a good fit for this Hawks system. High BBIQ and a fierce competitor. Even Gibson would be awesome. Even though he wouldn't do much since he is just another undersized PF.

  7. Oh to the contrary, the Bulls are clearly tanking. Rose doesn't like it, but the Bulls aren't listening to him because they know he'll never be the same. Word is they are looking to make more moves before the deadline. True, they are trying to dump long term money, but they clearly want to give themselves an opportunity at a new franchise player because they know Rose won't be THAT guy anymore.

Wonder if they would consider dealing Noah...He is so much fun to watch and would be awesome to have him an Al on the same team. I know wet-dream...

  8. Damn. If I had somebody who reads my mind, it's you. I have said repeated that we have seen this before. It's the art of the takeover. Takeover and change everything... even if it's working and apply your brand. That's all Ferry has done. He calls it changing the culture. All he's really done is started applying his brand. His choice in coach is not bad. Bud has brought offense to the plate. However, didn't the same thing happen with BK and Woody... Woody being a defensive technician. After years of Big dog and Toni, we were happy to see somebody who can make our defense play. The only difference was that Woody made all his changes at the same time so that he could get to the top of the lottery. Ferry hasn't. I actually think BK was better at the firesale than Ferry has been. Ferry is better at short terming his contracts but it's the same thing.

Give DF at least one more off-season. Everyone wanted Dwight and CP3 this year. Once Doc went to LAL the wet dream became impossible.

  9. That's just it Baller. Horf is a difference maker in the season. However, post season, teams can't win without a penetrator, rebounding, and set plays. Whereas we have the set plays and sometimes, we have the rebounding, I don't think it matters that much in the playoffs. We become a live by the three, die by the three team (ala Denver, Phoenix). We don't have the inside anchor that we need to play through tough playoff matchups. The one time we had that was when we had Crawford/Joe/Teague playing. We beat Orlando with good outside play and smart defense. We then played Chicago strong until they released Asik and Taj and their bigs on us and controlled the paint. In the playoffs, if you can't control the paint or get the easier buckets, you will lose. Unfortunately, even if Horf would have stayed healthy, as is, I think we'd be that team that comes in fun to watch but gets ground down in a halfcourt series. We've been that before.

I agree. Even with Horf it would have been tough to compete. We got lucky to even win a game vs. INDY last year. Its clear this team needs a big, short-term and long-term.

  10. I will probably catch heat for this but has DF really been better than BK his first few years?

DF got rid of some bad contracts and got us cap space and made us more flexible

Well BK did that too when he got rid of guys like Shareef and Big dog

DF draft picks have not been impressive. The best guy so far is a second round pf who cant defend

Look how many picks BK blew

BK never gave us a solid bench

The bench DF has put together has not been very good outside of one or two guys and even they are struggling now.

DF got a lot of praise for doing something that has been done before. As a Hawks fan I just hope the results are a lot better than what BK gave us

Too early to give up on Shrod and Jenkins. Considering Jenkins is hurt this year. Plus I can't say there was one player drafted after Jenkins who has put up better numbers. Other than our own, Mike Scott.

  11. Can I just insert an AMEN here.

I applaud Ferry for picking up Sap and Mack.. but with all the money we had in hand, the best we could do was soft Europlayers who bring nothing to the dance? Ayón sucks. Antić is marginal. Neither is what we need. Brand is old. It's like a Duke Spur reunion. I'm looking for Trajon Langden and Shane Battier next.

I do agree there. I was not impressed with the PF/C signings. I was very mad when they lost Zaza go. I definitely thought he would have stayed since he loved ATL. Also Dalemberet was available. Even though he is a sleepy head... Posted Image Hansborough was on my radar, young and plays aggressive. Seemed like he would fit the system well.

  12. Ok.. I see. We have to take away the overtime games that Teague plays in.... and we count the overtime games for everybody else. yeah... That's a great way to do it?

Anyway. Did you ever consider that adding Antić and Scott and Ayón and Lou into the offense may have something to do with an increase in turnovers? I mean, I know that these guys practice and all but don't you think having these guys come in having not played high minutes would have some type of effect on the overall chemistry?

I guess not... I mean, we're not even counting overtime periods anymore... how dare we talk about chemistry?

I overexaggerated the stats.... by presenting them????

    WOW!!

You don't need to take away stats. You just need to consider, that if a player plays an extra period (quarter) then his stats should increase. Obviously loosing a big man impacted him. His assists should lower. Not turnovers increase.

  13. Let's Be CLEAR Here:

Everybody says that Teague has disappeared. His stats since Horf was injured are the following:

    19.7 ppg

    7.7 apg

    2.7 rpg

    1.6 spg

    45.7% FG% (on 16.6 shots per game)

    28.6% 3pt% (on 4.0 shots per game)

    Really???

Since Stephen Curry is #2 in apg (Teague #4) for the season and he is currently active (CP3 #1 but out).. I thought Curry would be a good person to look at the comparison with:

    Curry:

    23 ppg

    9.6 apg

    4.7 rpg

    2.0 spg

44.5% FG (on 18 shots per game)

    40.5% 3Pt (on 7.9 shots per game)

The next guy in the East is Wall... Let's compare his numbers:

    Wall

    19.7 ppg

    8.8 apg

    3.5 rpg

    2.1 spg

42.4 FG (on 16.6 shots per game)

    30.4 3pt (on 3.7 shots per game)

Now to me, it's laughable that you declare disappearing for Teague after Horf. When he's still putting up numbers comparable to the elite guards playing....

You are over-exaggerating your stats. They are not reliable. First off, you are including the CLE game, which Al played most of the game. Secondly, since you are including CLE, 2 of the games went into OT ( 2OT CLE and CHA). So Teague should have more assists when he plays more minutes.

Nonetheless, Teague is averaging 4.14 turnovers during those 7 games. So I dont see how a 1.75 assist to turnover ratio is good. In fact it is awful.

To continue the comparison to other PGs around the league, Teague has one of the worst AST/TO ratios this year. This guy does not fit the system. There is nothing more to say.

  14. First to some I say... Welcome. Welcome to right thinking. However, here's my deal. We have to plan not panic. It's not too late to tank, there is a lottery. Moreover, there's some great players who will be available at 4-10. However, what we must do is plan sufficiently. If Asik were available for anybody but Millsap, I would say take him.

At this point, having Asik alone will not help us in our main problem areas. Scoring. Horf is not going to be that much help either. You guys say Horf was making a difference? Not really, Horf still has no goto move. He helped in that we had another option but playoff ball would have gotten us killed.

For those thinking Brooklyn is out? Have you looked at their roster? Those guys were just sleeping. If Kidd can divorce himself from iso play, Brooklyn can still finish 3rd in the East. That means, we go out and get our own lottery pick.

So here's what not to do:

    1. Don't trade Millsap.

    2. Don't put in players that are producing well for players that do nothing.

    Here's what to do:

    1. Trade Lou for potential.

    2. Play some of the youth. Scott, Dennis should get some playing time.

    3. Bring Mayor Cunningham back.

    4. Take advantage of any trade that will make us better next year.

    OR

Trade for Asik and Afflalo and shoot for the moon this year with Asik, Sap, Korver, Afflalo, and Teague.

Why are you obsessed with AA?

  15. You should be worried about a guy we still owe $32 million to and is our 3rd highest paid player. If he were on a rookie contract then I'd say yeah no need to worry but for a guy who's apparently hit his peak we should absolutely be worried. The Hawks would be a lot better off going with a PG who is more natural at the position than someone who's primary focus is getting to the basket.

His contract was huge. Unlike other who say signing him as a bargain I was upset. I would have been happy letting him to go MIL and signing a veteran until we found a true PG.

I don't understand Teague. It's like he's toying around with himself. He has the talent to drive to the basket on any point guard, he has the talent to knock down the 3 ball, but I'm not sure why he hesitates so often until the shot clock is about to expire.I also don't think he's the point guard of the future for us. He's super talented but he's not a Ferry/Bud Spurs type guy by any means.

He is so inconsistent. He's not the type of player you want to build around. The only reason he gets recognized now is b/c Al is out.

He's gotten a TON of bunny assists from Korver and Millsap and other guys behind the arc getting easy looks. Teague makes so few plays that set his teammates up for easy buckets it really amazes me. He truly has some of the worst point guard vision I've ever seen and now that he's unable to hit a mid-range or 3pt shot he's really becoming even less effective. His whole thing right now is getting to the basket for a layup or hope the defense rotates or that he is able to get a guy open from a pick n pop and since Al went down he hasn't been very successful.

Look at his stats since Al went out... 17 ppg, 6.5 apg, 4 topg, 42 fg%, 22 3pt% and we're 2-4 in that stretch. Those are just not going to get it done. If we're going to put up with 4 turnovers per game then he needs to be in the low to mid 20's in scoring and around 9 apg with better shooting percentages.

He has awful court vision. It is sad when he doesn't make passes that wow you at least once a week. The only PG who can get away with the assist/turnover ratio is Steph Curry. Time to start Mack and see if Dennis has learned anything from sitting on the bench for the past month. If anything, the past week has shown Teague is not a true PG and doesn't belong in this system. His defense is awful. Shaun Livingston ran all over him yesterday.

  16. Huge Hawks fan, have been through the 90s and will continue to support this team. However, losing Horford clearly shows he was our best player. This team has no offense and cannot rebound. The Hawks either need to acquire a big man by trading some picks or tank. I don't see any reason to be a middle of the pact team again. As soon as we get into the playoffs we would be crushed without a big man.

  17. Said it before and I will say this until he is steps up. Jeff Teague is not the PG for this system. He doesn't have the high BBIQ and forces too many turnovers without getting assists. Last night Teague had 5 assists and 7 turnovers. Against CHI 6 assists and 4 turnovers, GS 7 assists and 5 turnovers. If the Hawks are looking to trade anyone it should be Jeffrey. We cannot afford to have out PG average 6 assists and 4 turnovers a game.
