  1. Someone has to play defense. Lou / JJ/ Korver combinations would get killed by most of the better wings in the league i think. I don't know lot about him but i think the projected starters of Teague/Carroll/Korver/Milsap/Horford is pretty damn good. Obviously probalby not going to take down the Heat in a seven game series but its balanced, hardworking, and talented. Great shooting, good rebounding, good d.

Interesting. I still think Lou is best as a sixth man. JC excelled in that role and we all know what Manu has accomplished. Is Carroll really a shut down defender that he should be starting? There are only a few people good enough at defense in this league that should start such as Tony Allen.

  2. It is very interesting that the Hawks are looking at Oden. It's clear that Ferry doesn't want Horf at the center long-term and prefers to play Horford at PF. However, DF wasn't going to land Dwight and didn't want to potentially overpay for Bynum. Nothing wrong with either IMO. Bebe is most likely going back to Europe. He's to green to play in the NBA and needs to bulk up. Also, this helps the Hawks with managing his contact down the line. However, it is clear that the Hawks aren't announcing that Muskala or Scott will make the roster. My guess is that both go D League. In that case the Hawks only have 2-3 legit backup PF/Cs. You know this team wants to go big.

  3. As a big Steve Smith fan I'd really like to see this guy perform outside of his NBA TV role. He is a great leader and understands the game. Ultimately I'd like to see him in the capacity of a coach or assistant coach. He would fit well for the Hawks since he understands the Atlanta markets and would be a great voice in the locker room. Smitty is upbeat and positive. I'd be happy to have him involved in the Hawks organization. I was sad to see him leave his role as a color commentator with Bob Rathburn. What do y'all think?

  4. They both should stay because the Hawks aren't winning anything of significance as is. They will not become NBA ready by playing overseas.

This whole philosophy of sending players back to Europe is faulted. At this point, execs should send them to the NBA to start building NBA work habits. When they go back to Europe they continue to build European style basketball habits. Rubio did not benefit from additional time in Europe and most of the players do not. Send them to the NBA and let them learn just like Marc Gasol did.

  5. He's ours, like him or hate him. 4 years for 32 million Bucks. I wouldn't expect him to be the Hawks PG for more than 2 years though unless he just absolutely starts to dominate... and quite honestly I'm not sure that he can't become a top 10 PG with the right coaching. Luckily I think we have that coaching and I think we have the right teammates around him now so that he'll get a chance to blossom.

I agree. Teague is gone in a few years, if not by the deadline. DF and the Hawks aren't interested in taking. They want to compete and give Bud some pieces to coach. Who knows, maybe Bud can turn Teague around. Nobody thought Steph Curry would be a top 5 PG when he was drafted. Good coaching and good pieces around him have made him elite.

Plus Teague is a great trading piece. His contract is market value. Package him and some picks and you could get a PG like Rajon Rondo.

  6. If a valuable vet to contenders stayed, took less money, and is on the inside of things with Ferry to get him to stay, why again is anyone questioning Ferry's vision/long term plans for this team again? On the outside looking in, you think we are losing valuable players that will destroy the team, why would someone on the inside be willing to accept Ferry's plans? Trust that he is doing everything he has been brought in to do, and help the franchise become a contender. It's not going to take 1 year to do so. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh isn't going to sign together here before the season starts. That is the only way you can rebuild an entire team in 1 season.

people are questioning ferry because this is a results now world. If the Hawks didn't sign a big free agent within 24-48 hours everyone would panic. We didn't miss on Dwight, Bynum is a risk, and CP3 signed with his current team. Patience is a virtue.

  7. " DANNY FERRY IS SLOWLY DESTROYING THE ATLANTA FAN BASE.."

What fan base? We were ranked 26th out of 30 in attendance.

Agree! I love how all the "fans" are upset with what Ferry is doing. Where are all these people when MIA, NYK, LAL aren't in town? I go to 20-30 games a year and the place is practically empty. Philips is the best sports venue in the city with the worst fan support. The Hawks could not even sell out in the playoffs vs. Indy.
