As much as i'd hate to make a trade for Howard this year. (Assuming we would have to trade Horford) It is absolutely necessary to this franchise. Having a good solid team is great, heck I prefer it but in Basketball you need a star.
Superstar = outside (casual fan) credibility = Bandwagon Fans = large fanbase = beginning of tradition
-
Who should we hire? Phil Jackson or SVG. Respectable coach = credibility.
Who we will probably hire? Mike Brown

I really don't like these unis, in fact I don't really any of our unis with the exception of the away jersey. They should bring back the pacman logo and jerseys.

What's going on out there?
The team is winning enough to not get a great draft pick, but they do so many things that are so bad.
This franchise is nothing but a f*** up. That's all it is.
It could be worse.....
or can it?
-
If it's not Dwight or CP3 we're not gonna get a superstar player to bring fans in. The best thing for us to do is to make a smart trade this season and stay in the playoff hunt (5-7 seed) and get some draft picks. Then we can probably make some trades and get possibly two lottery picks. That way we can try our luck and get a potential superstar.
-
To say the least Gortat certainly would fill our rebounding problem. I mean we are 26th in the League. If Phoenix gave us Gortat/Dudley or Telfair/1st round pick (LA's). I would do it.
-
It's 50/50 but I believe we will trade Josh. Someone will give us an offer we can't refuse as the trade deadline approaches.
-
This is either one of two things. Either Ferry still believes Smoove can get us Dwight or he's just calling a bluff and waiting to see what he can get as the deadline approaches. Anyone that has taken a economics class knows the concept of supply and demand. If there is a high enough demand for a player such as Josh (he does do some good ever with his flaws) then we should get some better offers for him as we get closer to the trade deadline.
-
So Gortat is basically Zaza 2.0?

So it's only a wild rumor but the AJC and others are noting that the Mike Brown hiring could have major implications here in ATL. Many are saying that IF Drew epic fails then Brown would be a likely canadidate.
Ferry has already stated that he is already comitted to sticking this season w/Drew (i'm attaching the article below) but it should be interesting....what do yall think? http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2012/11/10/atlanta-hawks-ferry-a-friend-of-brown-but-fully-engaged-with-drew/

it makes me feel great cause I told YOU he was gonna be legit when we drafted him lol. This post wasn't meant to blow up like this. I just gave my opinion on Teague as being the PG for the long haul, he keeps proving it every game.
-
exactly lol! I'm still shocked as to how we won that game. I can't believe the heart of this team.this game is probaly going to define our season. Its going to be a very up and down season.
In the beginning of the 4th we looked freaking AWFUL. Just taking lazy jumpshot after lazy jumpshot. BRICK BRICK BRICK There was one sequence where four of our players didnt even both to cross the three point line while someone took a lazy jumper.
then all of a sudden we started making our shots and getting dunks.
This is going to be a very interesting season. I know for a fact there will be times where we lose 5-6 games in a row then there will be times where we will look like one of the best teams in the east. This forum should be very entertaining because of how bipolar our fans can be

wait a sec......if Shawty is a word for chicks then why did Smoove name himself "mid-range shawty"? lol
-
he hit the dagger and although it was wide open...he hit it.
-
what a game, I thought we were dead in the water after Smooves' T

haha your right but it's nice to dream. Without really looking at what anyone else has said I would say the Hawks should target Harden/Howard/CP3. Now ATL isn't a big time superstar destination so I think the Hawks will reach a little on players that have shown superstar potential but haven't reached it yet. I could easily see Harden and Iguodala coming here. Now Iguodala isn't worth the max but he is a great 3 and we would have playmakers everywhere. Starters: Teague Harden Iguodala Smith HorfordI love how we have tons of NBA scouts in here. Don't quit your day job.

Firstly, thanks for asking! It's a bummer you couldn't make it, it would've been great to see some fellow 'Squawkers! To me, Anderson didn't quite stand out but one thing I did notice about him was the fact that he is not afraid to take a contested shot that's for sure. I believe he hit a very nice 3 over Damion James in the first period. Damion was also pretty solid he didn't have a great game but he made solid contributions on both ends of the floor. The guy also has a motor as well. He does not give up on plays. PG movement was very interesting Teague wasn't able to compete due to an ankle injury but I don't expect it to be a major concern. I am VERY excited about Devin Harris. He did very well running the point and setting guys up. LD is also mixing up some new plays so some of the guys had trouble going to a particular spot at times. Lou Will will be our Joe Johnson especially in clutch situations. He got a very nice bucket with time running out at the end of the 1st. His ball handling is also very similar to Joe (at least that's how I see it) the only problem he has is setting players up.Thanks! I RSVP'd but couldn't make it. How about James Anderson and Damion James? And how did the point guards look distributing the ball? ~lw3
Petro is by far the worst player on the court in terms of talent but the fact that he is 7 foot will guarantee him a spot. I also expect Ivan to get more touches on the offensive end. The ball would always make its way to him. He has definitely improved. If I had to guess I would say the hawks will cut Anderson but he is to good to cut ties with. Expect him to go to our D-League affiliate. Is was pleased and surprised by Scott. Ivan is obviously in great shape. It is conceivable to see Ivan, Scott and Toliver on the court together allowing Zaza to start with Al and Josh. Damon James is making a case for a 15 player roster. I'm not concerned about the 3 position but we have a glut at the two. I suppose someone is traded for a pick or center before the trade line. Oh, and besides being 7 foot, Petro is just that. I'd rather have Ivan at 6'8"ish at the 5 than Petro. If his contract were not guaranted he would be cut. I ain't hatin, just sayin.

So for yall that didn't know, the Hawks held a "Tip-Off" event today @Phillips. Earlier on the majority of the players signed autographs, shot 3-pointers, skill competitions, and other events with the fans. After all the beginning festivities were over they began the scrimmage. It consisted of two 10 minute periods and although there wasn't much to brag about two players really stood out to me.Mike Scott is totally legit. His offensive game has transitioned very well to the NBA and he was actually grabbing some nice boards as well. I can easily see him contributing now and down the road. The second player is Kyle Korver, for his limitations on defense he totally makes up for them on the offensive end. He was lights out on most shots and also showed some impressive defensive flashes. If yall would like to know any more info about how a particular player performed please let me know in the comments below!

I know we talked about it a little but if you can try to bring Mikes' rapping from Lost in the Echo. It probably won't work but it would be nice.

If Teague can play at his current level consistently then I say we should build around Teague/Horford. Say what you want but Jeff is the best PG we've had from a statistical standpoint since Jason Terry. Both guys have mid-high bbiq.
