  1. I agree that Wallace would make Dallas better. He's a very good player, but he doesn't 'make his team win'. He did play in Orlando and Washington prior to Detroit. What did they win??? The system DOES matter.
  2. My sister died when she was 5. I lost my dad when I was 14 to a massive heart attack. Of course, he left my mom with nothing when I was 2, and never paid child support. Other people have problems. You have to decide whether or not you're going to be a victim. I'm a person of faith despite my past. I believe everything happens for a reason. God does not exist to make my life perfect. He gave me tough times, but my past made me stronger. It made me appreciate what I have. It gave me a perspective that most people in this country don't have. Maybe I can help other people somehow. Yours did the same for you. You just have to decide what you want to do with it. Will you just be bitter and spiteful and try to make everyone as miserable as you are? You could do a lot for people. There are people who need you. Don't get me wrong. I didn't respond well, either. We're only human. You can't be perfect, but you can impress the heck out of me by being positive despite your past. There are still good things in life.
  3. HOW CAN YOU ASSUME that chillz doesn't understand?? You think you're the only one with problems? You think you're the only one whose childhood was screwed up? (I'm assuming that's what you mean) Don't use your past as an excuse for your behavior. That's what criminals do. Feel bad about life? Do something about it. You don't have to hang your head and mope; it gets you nowhere. Whatever has happened to you; many people have had it much worse. You're still part of 5% of the world population that gets to call America home where you have the luxury of worrying about a [censored] basketball team.
  4. It's becoming more and more apparent to the other posters on this board that you have only one real criterion for evaluating a player: his team's won/loss record. It doesn't seem to matter how much the player had to do with that record...it's just the record in itself that matters. Detroit was this good last year. Billups didn't make them any better, whether you want to believe it or not. What if Billups had been traded to the Cavs where he put up even better numbers, but the Cavs had only won 18 games. You'd be arguing that he sucks. Let's have more fun with your logic. 1) Charlie Ward is not a very good player. After all, his team missed the playoffs. HOWEVER, he used to be excellent...that is, back when the Knicks were perennial contenders. 2) Robert Horry is a tremendous player. In fact, he's one of the best ever, as he's been in the playoffs nearly every year, and won multiple championships with both Houston and LA. 3) Alan Iverson used to suck bad. Now, he's good. Just look at what Philly is doing in the playoffs. 4) Gary Payton is terrible. He played on 2 non-playoff teams this year. He was good back in the mid 90's. You know, when the Sonics played the Bulls for the championship. 5) Bill Wennington is tight. I already know your response to this one: "Well, I'm sorry if I don't think the Hawks have the best players in the league because they won a measley 35 games....." I don't know why I try
  5. This is a no-brainer, Blunt. There's not question of chemistry with this one. If we could trade Alan Henderson and CC for Kobe would you complain about chemistry??? I assure you our chemistry would be bad if we traded for Kobe. The point is, you have to make good trades if you have the opportunity. Then you can make other trades if you have to. This team needs to build value. As you may have noticed, we don't have many valuable players.
  6. "Who said anything about having to average 20PPG?" Certainly not I. "What are you even talking about?" Is the parallel that elusive, Joe? Chauncey Billups has exactly one good year and you think he's far superior to JT? This is what Chillz was talking about. Last year, you would've said he was a worthless loser. Your stats aren't right, either. 20PPG. Geez. It's an analogous situation. The particular stats don't matter. I assumed you'd draw the parallel, but I see that I've once again put far too much faith in your capacity for abstract thought. Abstract reasoning. I think you can take a course in it (though I don't think it's offered at Dekalb).
  7. Didn't he score 20 ppg one year? Yup, he's better. *snicker*
  8. I would do it to get him. What happened to Dalembert? I thought he would be good. He has such broad shoulders and long arms.
  9. Of course, the salaries don't work. Anyway, the Bulls wouldn't even think about that ridiculous trade. They probably wouldn't consider it if you took Rose OUT. Curry is toooo valuable. I don't know what is wrong with people on this board. True, Kwame Brown is on thin ice and would be attainable. However, Curry had a decent showing his first year and was terrific for 3 months this year. Chicago knows what their future rests on: Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry. That's it. Paxson may well trade his first pick; the Bulls have enough youth. He's not going to trade his best two players (including one near all-star) for one skinny defensive center. Getting Jalen Rose is NOT impossible. Getting Curry nearly is. Getting both of them would take Duncan.
  10. Braves offense now stands #3 in the league in runs scored and #2 among non-Colorado teams. We are so much better offensively. That is why we can absorb the loss of Millwood, Moss, and Glavine. Don't fool yourself, though. Losing those pitchers was painful, and we WILL miss them. I never complained about letting Glavine go. I would've never complained about letting Maddux go. However, the Millwood trade was just stupid, and trading a young stud (Moss) for a more expensive, but not better, Ortiz (economics, JS?) was not much smarter.
  11. Come to think of it, he might be
  12. Yes. True. No doubt. Come argue, Hotlantadude. You know you want to. *Snicker*
  13. Rodney Monroe had something to do with it, too.
  14. I'm with you on Carmelo, but Collison? I don't think it's coincidence that the players you're drafting are the best players from the respective finals teams. Those are the players you've seen, so that's who you draft. Williams? He's from UGA, so another player you've had exposure to? You know, there are lots of good players from more obscure college teams, from Europe, and from HS. I think Babcock probably drafted that way....
  15. I almost let you get away with saying that Harrington could step in for O'Neal and the Pacers 'wouldn't miss a beat'. OH! That's rich! You're calling Curry 'just a 10 - 4 player', and then you say that Harrington is as good as O'Neal???? Harrington is a 12-6 player, chump. He shot 43% from the field at 23 yrs old. But, you're probably still impressed from that 40 pt showing that he put up on the Hawks. Talk about drawing conclusions from few games! In the Bos - Ind OT game, O'Neal put up 19 pts and 22 reb and Harrington put up like 3 and 4. Yep, I'd say they wouldn't miss a beat. Get outta here, kid. You argue what you want to be true, not what is.
