Lonzo is trash. Schlenk should be led out of the building if he did that stupid trade.

Great pass by Trae. Glad he didnt settle for a tough runner in the paint there.
I'm glad he ignored Gallinari bad luck ass.

I hate Gallinari's offense because he defense sucks.

I just can’t dislike Kevin although I probably should. That shot is so pretty, and now that’s two from mid-range. Gotta have 3-level shot making. He can’t be as consistent as he should on open looks because he’s never getting any damn rhythm at the line.
I knew he was a good decision maker but damn he’s at almost a 3:1 assist to turnover this year with a .525 eFG. That’s slick excellent, if he just got to the line more his eFG would freaking explode.
Him not aggressive mayne. Gotta drop him off in the Bluff for a weekend.

Yeah, Schlenk couldn't handle the chew out from Ressler and decided to save his own ass. I think it's going to get nasty as more news comes out.

Mixed feelings.
It likely was coming at some point.
I just find it difficult to say we'd be in this situation if some KEY pieces had been mostly healthy all season... and THAT, my friends, is really no one's fault... but if it is someone's, it's the GENERAL MANAGER who actually deserves the chopping block ahead of the head coach.
As always, I'm not going to comment further out of principle, but I will welcome reading others' perspectives on that.
I agree. I believe we would've been in a better position if we didn't have many injuries. Even though LP had silly rotations, a lot of the blame goes on Travis because none of the players he signed this off-season (besides Bogi) fitted what LP wanted as far as defense and athleticism.
His drafting of Okongwu is still a head scratcher. I don't believe the kid will be a solid contributor. He's too slow, plays too small, and doesn't provide a big defensive presence in the paint.
Travis literally fired LP to save his own ass because the Rondo and Dunn signings are cringe-worthy.

I'm just waiting for LP to put Gallo at 5. The real blowout will begin then...
Gallo plays no defense at all! I don't give a damn about his offense if he can't rebound or try to defend the paint!

I don't want to see another Huerter pass tonight. He's playing passive like he doesn't want to be here. Get him the f*** out of town!
John Collins talked all of that sharing the ball crap at the beginning of the season and is about as chocolate chip cookie soft as Horford. I wouldn't pay him more than $18m per year. He doesn't bring nothing else to the table when he's not taking a 3 or catching a lob pass.

The only difference I noticed was how Nate handles the 2nd squads minutes. He didn't allow them to lose momentum for our starters. I expect that from a coach with a lot of experience as headcoach in this league. Sometimes folks forget LP's learning how to be a headcoach on the fly. Hopefully, he watches tonight's game and learns how rotations should be used.

Certainly if he makes them it helps but Trae was only +2 in this game even though he was efficient whereas Mays was +6 and he barely scored which tells you Mays was a lot better in other areas. I sincerely hope the fate of the hawks doesn't depend on Trae being an efficient scorer because he isn't that type of player yet.
Stats will have you missing certain aspects of the game. The threat of Trae in space makes defenses respect it and adjust. This in turn gives our other players the opportunity to find space and attack. People overrated point guards like Rondo because they were big assist guys. Unfortunately, these guys had a starting lineup full of closers. When Rondo left Boston, he became a serviceable point guard. That's it. His game is outdated and relies on too big of a supporting cast.
Any opposing coach watching Trae go down hill on their defense would have an anxiety attack. He puts too much pressure in the head of a defender trying to figure if he's going to create, blow past him, stop for a three, and/or draw a foul.

I can live with 4 or less turnovers a game from Trae. Leading the NBA in turnovers is not acceptable. We are not a team that can give up possessions. You feel ok with the 8 turnovers because he dropped 40. Let me know how those 8 turnovers feel when he goes 5-22.
Trae isn't leading the league in turnovers, he's actually 5th behind the following players:
1. Anzejs Pasecniks
2. Russell Westbrook
3. James Harden
4. Luka Doncic
I will live with turnovers from Trae because he's dealing with new team mates and complex defensive adjustments. He and LP have stated that the last few weeks. Another issue you're not seeing is the lack of movement and slashing from our guards. Turnovers happen when our players aren't moving, allowing defenders to cheat in the lanes.
-
I can live with the turnovers because I understand Trae's multiple hats on offense. Dude has to make the machine work and sometimes things happen.
I wish these old school basketball minds would stop trying to handicap Trae into a one dimensional floor general when he's probably the deadliest combination of Iverson and Steve Nash we've ever seen.
When Trae scores 30+ the rest of the starters don't have to press and get away from what they do best. Just look at how Cam played tonight. He was under control and played within the flow of the offense. That's Trae's impact and LP and JC will need to come to grips with it. The kid is too special to not do what got him into the league in the first place.

Collins shouldn't sniff a max contract! Mfer just wants to shoot threes all game and hasn't stopped a fly on defense!
May's played better than Huerter but still got shelved.
-
I'd rather Knight and Bruno get minutes on Randle rather than see Gallinari and Collins get baked. Pierce is going to get fired being stubborn.

Gallinari doesn't play a lick of freaking defense! And Solomon Hill is trash! I won't even comment on Huerter. Smh

-
Huerter - Does he need freaking glasses?! I'm sick of watching him throw the damn ball to the other team!
Hill - He should never enter another game again! If he's not making threes, he's giving them up to the other team! LP needs to give his minutes to either Mays or Knight.
-
THE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE ANALYSIS
Huerter is cheeks and we should never see the Trae and Goodwin lineup ever again.
Collin's doesn't deserve max money because he can't guard a 31 year old Blake Griffin on the perimeter.
Solomon Hill needs to be dropped off in the Bluff.
-
I'm growing tired of seeing Kevin Huerter panicking while dribbling the ball then throwing it away!
Dude, get some freaking confidence!

It seems the offense is no longer free flowing. Clint ties up the lanes when the pick and roll isn't working, which takes away slashing opportunities from our guards. Defenses are literally allowing Trae to penetrate and make the difficult shot over bigs. Just take a look at the difference in activity from the first 3 games. Everyone seems lost when the pick and roll stalls. LP needs to make a decision and allow the offense to work the Trae and Hunter.

Is C L I N T C A P E L A!
Now, I see why the Rockets got rid of him. He's basically non-existent on offense and his defense under the basket is overrated.
Just a few observations.
Offense - The pick and roll with him doesn't stress the defense enough to make players collapse into the paint. His defender sags off and gladly accepts the penetrating guard while the remaining defenders stay at home. Leaving Clint wide open, spectating.
Defense - He's laterally slow and commits the absolute dumbest fouls I've seen this season so far. Guards are feasting on switches. There's times when he's lost on rotations, putting his teammates in terrible position as they scramble to help. His rebound positioning is also terrible! He continues to collect stupid fouls reaching over players for rebounds. Just lazy basketball.
I know we're still early in the season but, he's hurting us on offense and defense.

Per an account from Twitter, Russell Westbrook wants a trade and one of his desired destinations is Atlanta. Any thoughts?
I'll take him but, I'm only offering a $500 gift card to Magic City Kitchen.

They are about the same on threes, but Luka FG% is 5 points higher overall, which is significant actually. The main difference is size, as Trae really has to work against length to get his floater to go, and some nights it's just not falling. The ideal Trae is a guy that averages 24 and 12 on 50%+ shooting. Trae averaging close to 30 and low 40's shooting percentage is not a winning formula for us. That's more of a AI, Kyrie type, not ideal to build around in my opinion.
So, you're ignoring the fact he's still averaging almost 30 points per game while facing a double team every night? At 5"11? Haha! Am in the Twilight Zone?

The difference in my humble opinion..
Luka has a really good supporting cast which affords him the ability of drawing less double teams. He literally plays one on one ball all game. With the emergence of Tim Hardaway Jr., Luka and Porzingis will continue to reek havoc.
Trae on the other hand has a team full of rookies and rolling stones. He gets doubled every time he crosses half-court. With his size (5'11 without shoes) its absolutely nuts he's averaging almost 27 points off shooting 43% from the field and 36% from three point range. If Trae had the same supporting cast as Porzingis, he would probably average in the mid 30's points wise and well over double digit assists per game.
Denver's players and coaching staff advised us of how much of a nightmare he can be to game plan against. The kid is unreal and will be the better player down the line.

Hawks after Lonzo?
in Homecourt
Posted
That's if you're willing to pay a notoriously terrible shooter. He shooting 57% over his career from the free-throw strike. He's improved this year to 77% from the free-throw strike. He shooting 38.5% from 3pt land, which is pretty good. But what happens when the long ball doesn't fall? He's going to look like Solomon Hill because he can't finish at the rim. Lonzo has a 39.7% field goal marker over his career but, he's improved this year to a whopping 42.5%!!
His improvements are motivated by a big payday this off-season. There's nothing about his game in year 4 that nudges him past Cam Reddish. I think Cam will blossom late like T-Mac and Jimmy Butler.
