The only real immediate fix to our defense is Gobert and that is our fundamental problem… defense

Honestly, from putting everything together, I really doubt the Hawks are even trying to move JC. Sacramento needs to drum up interest in their #4 pick, because Ivey is the clear #4 prospect and he wants nothing to do with them. The Knicks are the mark, and the Kings want the best return they can get. Collins name gets thrown in with all these teams because he's our longest tenured player and he plays the same position as Randle and Grant who are/were actually on the block. Our target (Dyson Daniels) is going to be there at #8 or #9 which is why we've engaged both the Spurs and Pelicans trying to get a deal done whether it's with Bogi or Huerter. One of them has to go. I think that's what the Hawks real plan is.
Oooh yeah it doesn’t feel great to pin our 2022-2023 improvement on a draft pick

Changing my pick to Bledsoe on a vet min after waived. No other acquisitions lol
-
Pistons making a run for Ayton for sure. Aytons agent probably said he would take the max into their cap space.
-
I never wanted Jerami on the Hawks but watch the Hawks wait on everything until Ayton free agency and he signs with Pistons lol. Then everybody that wanted to run it back is like whaaaaa?

LOLOL Just goes to show you how little value Jerami actually had...

@thecampster latest post explains why we just saw rumors about the hawks interested in PJ Tucker.
actually explains it a lot and it wasn’t hard to see that this team doesn’t have any grit in them. Completely different from last season.
Tucker’s agent linking him to every playoff team to con some desperate team to spend more than MLE deal on him

Random thought.. Pursuing Ayton over Gobert to stay on Trae’s timeline? Maybe it’s a top-3 factor in potential trades.
-
At this point I’m sure this infamous white board looks like this and even the Hawks FO lost track of what they are doing:

For how hot the rumor mill is, no trades today… it could get nutty if all these teams wait until they are on the clock

They don't have better deals on the table. Atlanta hooking them up
Right but we’re talking about an inept franchise here in Sacramento. McNair or not this is the Kings.

Ok the latest Hawks *trying* to trade John Collins before the draft starts is a message to Sacramento to take the deal for number 4 now instead of waiting to the 4 slot. I’m sure Schlenk doesn’t trust those bozos and is leaking a message to Fischer.
Magic are locked in on Jabari. Houston has to take a big project now that they dumped Wood. It comes down to OKC snagging Ivey and log jamming their backcourt or taking Holmgren like they should. But Presti could just be clowning around and take Ivey.- 2

Would love KD on this team, the question is how much do you have to give up to get him.

If I had to ask Travis one thing right now it would be.. If Ainge lowers his asking for Gobert to your level do you take him now or wait until Ayton is available but risk Ayton signing with Detroit into cap space.

Not to turn this into a Kirschner debate but I doubt anyone in the know trusts him with remotely vague information. He can only go on what is reported to him in press conferences or conveyed. I don’t think he has the approach that gets you to a Woj, Stein, or Shams level ever.

Hawks didn’t get it done in the playoffs and were healthy enough to compete. End of story. Try again next year? They gonna try and upgrade if they can and it doesn’t blow their budget.

Kirschner is good at reporting and asking questions but not good at prognostication. If Gobert wasn’t on super max every team in the league would want to trade for him and he wouldn’t be available. Players become available because teams don’t see enough value or see conflict.

The weeks leading up to the draft are the only times I regret not renewing my Athletic subscription.
Nah, that blog post today is a wet blanket.

Jazz beat writer seems to think the Jazz-Hawks deal is better than what's out there. I doubt Chicago includes Williams anyway so it's a non-starter. Williams has a ton of potential since he is incredibly young.

Now's the time when teams try really hard to dispose of their trash (when the stove is hot):
Gordon Hayward
Tobias Harris
Russell Westbrook
John Wall- 1

John has high value now.. would be the right time to trade him for the best value returning (#4 pick or a quality vet starter). If not you risk more downside than upside.
-
Kings are just playing their asset cards. I bet they don't draft at all first round if they can sell their pick for 2-3 good to great vets and a future first round.
-
Has any of his rumors come true? Seems he just is a voice box for the rumor mill but those rumors are smoke screens. It’s almost as if his writing is purely only smoke screens.

Daniels seems like a good rotation guy but I’m not sure he could figure it out to be a star like Ben Simmons. He’s like a Kyle Anderson. Is that worth JC? Nope

The Mega Super Rumor Thread (Part 2)

The main thing against Pistons is they offer him into cap space and Phoenix matches and trades him next offseason. I get they don’t want to pay him but it is GM 101.
