  1. and be more efficient on offense. Now we all love and will miss Zaza, but we all know most of of his points came from this sort of scenario. Grab offensive rebound (from great hustle and positioning), blow wide open layup, miss the tip in, miss another tip in, grab the board again, hit an awkward hook. Now with that hustle and effort, what's not to love? But Brand I feel would bring a much more solid offensive option, with a jumper and solid defense with some shot blocking to boot (which Zaza most definitely does not do). And at $4mil for ONE SEASON? Personally I think this is a very good, but not flashy or amazing signing. We have a sturdy, smart, veteran front court albeit a little short.
  2. I haven't seen anything official yet so I'm only 90% panicking. But... This (potential) signing is reminding me a lot of the late 90's hawks. Trading away classy, but ageing SG Steve Smith (aka Joe Johnson) for Isiah Rider (Monte Ellis). What was to follow was almost a decade of terrible, hard to support hawks teams lead by the following cast of washed up vets and young guys looking for pay days. Glen Robinson, Jim Jackson, Antoine Walker, Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Toni Kukoc, Jon Barry, Kenny Anderson, Tom Gugliotta. Yikes.
  3. Did he keep the streak going? I remember watching our terrible last game against Indy thinking he had it broken in our last playoff game, anyone got clarification of that?
  4. This makes me happy, he was such a great part of the team last year, nice work DF! Now who the heck is going to fill out the rest of the roster?
  5. Dion Glover and Lee Nailon highlights... some major free throw and mid range action. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/e-MMZgV05_k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> (not sure how to embed youtube links?)
  6. Lee Nailon and Ken Norman for me. If things weren't bad enough with Isaiah Rider leading the team, we had underwhelming guys like this giving us hope at the end of the bench. Probably not a scrub, but it pains me that Laphonso Ellis turned out to be a scrub for us. I love the guy when he was with Denver and I had high hopes when we signed him. I was probably too young to realise he was already broken down. This thread is fantastic, I'd forgotten about so many of these guys. Pedrag Drobnjak? Matt Freije? lol

    Trade Horford

No thanks. The Bobcats are where the Hawks were when we had guys like Antoine Walker and Al Harrington leading the way. Not good basketball, not good to watch and no guarantee of becoming a winning team any time soon. The only benefit of a total rebuild (as a fan) is that the off-season becomes much more interesting. It's crazy to think we have only 3 players on our roster but we're in a good position to be competitive AND build for the future. The main reason for this is because of Horfords dependable play, attitude and contract. Trade that away and we're the Bobcats.
  8. it seemed too easy, but in saying that, now I'd hate to be wrong. Is it the string bean Keith Benson?

    Jeremy Tyler

He's got the frame and athleticism that makes you think he could be something, but at this stage, that's probably it. Despite Petro kind of contributing the last two games, the potential of a kid like that is so much more enticing going forward. Wouldn't trust him in important moments or matchups though, at least Petro has shown he can be somewhat useful against Lopez and Howard. I could see Johan being used in the Playoffs, possibly even starting if we come up against a team with a solid big. Say, Indiana / Hibbert.

I still hold hope for him to become a contributor, but he wasn't great. Truthfully, the defensive possessions when he was out there I noticed his team mates helping across too hard which made him have to sag across to help, leaving his man (Magee) wide open for a couple of put backs. Nothing much to really evaluate though, he didn't even get a look on offense. Need a much bigger sample size. At least he got out there though.
  11. I hope we cut Petro, he's had one game (against the Nets) where he was serviceable but other than that he's been horrible in the (limited) minutes he's had. Did anyone see when he came on in garbage time when the hawks were up big a few games back and the first thing he did was to hoist an uncontested 3 at the start of the shot clock...... what the. Know your role and EARN your minutes big French man.
